The article focuses on concerns on the imminent capacity crunch in optical communications networks, which was discussed at the Communication Networks Beyond the Capacity Crunch meeting at The Royal Society held in London, England from May 11 20 12, 2015 and at a satellite meeting at Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire, England from May 13 to 14, 2015.
