The risk and predictability of weather and climate anomalies in Russian regions associated with differen types of El Niño are estimated using long-term data (1891-2015) on surface air temperature, precipitation, and indices of drought and excessive moisture. Considered is ice jamming, the hazardous ice phenomenon observed at the opening of northern rivers that re suits in significant flooding. Revealed is that maximum water levels in the ice-jam-risk areas of the Sukhona, Tom', and Lena rivers depend on the deterministic contributions of ice jamming factors that vary along with the climate change, and on the realization of different activities breaking natural river ice conditions (excavation of sand and gravel mix from the channel, dumping of warm industrial water, construction of bridges, and preventive actions against ice jams). The article presents a study which investigates the chemical flow from 1996-2005 and the climate changes in Selenga River in Mongolia and Russia. The study made use of the result of the complex studies in the Selenga River lower reaches that included the biogenic elements and the main ions to describe the chemical flow of the river with the use of freshwater hydrochemistry. The result of the study shows that the chemical flow in Selenga River has 20-30% increase due to the washout of the accumulated material during the high floods. It adds that the low precipitation and water expenditure in the river was due to the reduction on the transported dissolved matter due to the deficiency of the elements in the ecosystem of the Lake Baikal.

The article offers information on the long-term changes in river runoff in context to climatic changes within the area of Transbaikal Region, Russia. It mentions that the trends of changes in atmospheric precipitation and river runoff were calculated using the statistical techniques. It reveals that the long-term tendencies are unstable, as these trends change their amplitudes and signs on regular basics which is determined by it cyclicity.
