The article discusses the increasing health risk of Galapagos sea lions because of Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) pesticide contamination. It states that DDT concentrations in Galapagos sea lions are expected to be associated with impacts on the immune system. It mentions that Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) can have a bioaccumulation in oceanic and coastal-marine food chains of the Galapagos sea lions, wherein it compromises its reproductive status and health.
