The road is the most commonly used means of transportation and serves as a country's arteries, so it is extremely important to keep the roads in good condition. Potholes that happen to appear in the road must be repaired to keep the road in good condition. Spotting potholes on the road is difficult, especially in a country like India where roads stretch millions of kilometres across the country. Therefore, there is a need to automate the identification of potholes with high speed and real-time precision. YOLOX is an object detection algorithm and our main goal of this article is to train and analyse the YOLOX model for pothole detection. The YOLOX model is trained with a pothole dataset and the results obtained are analysed by calculating the accuracy, recall and size of the model which is then compared to other YOLO algorithms. The experimental results in this article show that the YOLOX-Nano model predicts potholes with higher accuracy compared to other models while having low computational costs. We were able to achieve an Average Precision (AP) value of 85.6% from training the model and the total size of the model is 7.22 MB. The pothole detection capabilities of the newly developed YOLOX algorithm have never been tested before and this paper is one of the first to detect potholes using the YOLOX object detection algorithm. Due to lack of a central bureaucrat in mobile ad hoc networks, the security of the network becomes serious issue. During malicious attacks, according to the motivation of intruder the severity of the threat varies. It may lead to loss of data, energy or throughput. This paper proposes a lightweight Intruder Node Detection and Isolation Action mechanism (INDIA) using feature extraction, feature optimization and classification techniques. The indirect and direct trust features are extracted from each node and the total trust feature is computed by combining them. The trust features are extracted from each node of MANET and these features are optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm as feature optimization technique. These optimized feature sets are then classified using Neural Networks (NN) classifier which identifies the intruder node. The performance of the proposed methodology is studied in terms of various parameters such as success rate in packet delivery, delay in communication and the amount of energy consumption for identifying and isolating the intruder. The wireless sensor network is gaining significant attention because of its ubiquitous deployability nature. In general, the role of the wireless sensor network is remarkable in smart city applications for data sensing, collecting, and transmitting. Advanced metering infrastructure is an automatic system for the reading of electricity consumption by individual users. The reading of data from meters normally communicated over a wireless medium. Apart from collecting and sensing, routing is one of the major attributes in the AMI network. Successful communication is possible when the link and node are in the proper state. In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant routing mechanism named Grid Topological Routing scheme to provide an efficient route in case of encountering a faulty path. The simulation shows better performance against the Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks and Ad-Hoc On-Demand Vector algorithm in terms of power consumption and packet delivery ratio. The present paper reports a study, where growing hierarchical self-organising map (GHSOM) has been applied to achieve a visual cluster analysis to the Indian rainfall dataset consisting of 142 years of Indian rainfall data so that the yearly rainfall can be segregated into small groups to visualise the pattern of clustering behaviour of yearly rainfall due to changes in monthly rainfall for each year. Also, through support vector machine (SVM), it has been observed that generation of clusters impacts positively on the prediction of the Indian summer monsoon rainfall. The classification of recurrence and non recurrence of Hepato Cellular carcinoma (HCC) outcome after Radio Frequency Ablation therapy is a critical task. Multiple time series clinical liver cancer dataset is collected from different dataset and time interval. A merging algorithm is used to merge all attributes collected from different sources in multiple time periods. In order to preserve the originality of information, statistical measures of each attribute is calculated and considered them as additional attributes for accurate prediction. However the merged dataset is unbalanced, in which, the number of samples from HCC recurrence class is much smaller than from HCC non recurrence. The feature weighting scheme select optimal features and parameter of classifiers are sequentially obtained from multiple iterations which causes higher computation time. In this paper, an efficient sampling approach is proposed using Inverse Random under Sampling (IRUS) to overcome class imbalance issue. IRUS under sample the majority class which creates a number of distinct partitions with a boundary separated minority and majority class samples. Additionally an optimization approach is proposed using Artificial Plant Optimization (APO) algorithm to select optimal features and parameters of classifiers to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of classification. The optimization approach reduces the number of iteration and computation time for feature selection and parameter selection for classifiers which classify the recurrence and non recurrence of HCC. Classify patients with HCC and without HCC based on optimal features and parameters by Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest(RF) classifiers. Finally, the experimental results are conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method over existing method in terms of accuracy, specificity, sensitivity and balanced accuracy. This paper presents a hybrid model to better predict Indian summer monsoon rainfall. The algorithm considers suitable techniques for processing dense datasets. The proposed three-step algorithm comprises closed itemset generation-based association rule mining for feature selection, cluster membership for dimensionality reduction, and simple logistic function for prediction. The application of predicting rainfall into flood, excess, normal, deficit, and drought based on 36 predictors consisting of land and ocean variables is presented. Road traffic accidents are a major social concern as well as a crucial issue for the public in recent days due to the risk factors involved. Analysing and identifying the major risk factors of road accident is still a challenging task. In this paper, a fuzzy Context-free Grammar (FCFG)-based association rule mining (ARM) technique is proposed to categorize a heterogeneous road accident dataset into two categories based on the critical factors such as total number of accidents (TA), persons killed (PK) and persons injured (PI). The role of the fuzzy grammar in this paper is to govern the entire algorithm using the prescribed grammar rules to proceed further. The considered road accident dataset does not have class labels; hence there is a need to assign class labels for the available data instance. The accident data with assigned class labels are given as input to K-nearest neighbour (KNN) machine learning algorithm in order to train the classifier for testing purpose. Further, the collected test data from the user are utilized by the KNN classifier for carrying out the performance analysis of the proposed algorithm. The case study is conducted on the National Highway roads, India, to examine the proposed approach. The experimentations are executed for road accident records using MATLAB software and the analysis is made using the following performance measures: accuracy, recall or sensitivity, precision or specificity and F1 score. A comparative study is accomplished with existing algorithms in order to show that the proposed algorithm works with improved accuracy of more than 83%. This paper present the results of a study made to assess the grades of iron ore deposits in parts of Noamundi area using the hyperspectral image data (EO-1 Hyperion). The study involves hyperspectral image data, preprocessing (removal of atmospheric effects), spectral curve generation from the image, extraction of certain spectral parameters and spectral data analysis. Atmospheric correction was carried out by using algorithms involving atmospheric analysis of spectral hyper-cubes and Quick Atmospheric Correction modules. Spectral curves generated for the pixels that contain iron ores resemble the spectral signature of iron ores, i.e., very strong absorption at 850-900nm region is observed. The strength of the absorption varies spatially at different pixels. Hence, spectral parameters such as radius of curvature of NIR absorption trough (750-1000nm), position of NIR absorption trough and distance from a reference(100% reflectance) line have been derived for all the image-derived spectra and were compared with the concentration of iron in the ore samples of mines. Empirical models were generated by relating the image-derived spectral parameters of iron ore locations and geochemistry of the samples collected from the same location which shows a reasonable match. Strong negative correlation is seen between the radius of curvature of the NIR absorption trough and concentration of iron with a R value of 0.809. The position of the NIR absorption trough is seen to shift towards longer wavelengths with decreasing iron content and the distance from the reference line increases with increasing iron content. Thus, this study indicates that it is feasible to discriminate the grades of iron ores from the spectral parameters derived from Hyperspectral satellite images. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an eye disease, which affects the people who are all having the diabetes for more than 10 years. The ophthalmologist identifies when the dilated eye exam causes severe in any one of the following deviations in the retina: changes in blood vessels, leaking blood vessels, newly grown blood vessels, swelling of the macula, changes in the lens, and damages to the nerve tissue. It can eventually lead to vision loss. The early detection of DR prevents the cause of blindness. In this paper, we propose the retinal image segmentation and extraction of blood vessels by morphological processing, thresholding, edge detection, and adaptive histogram equalization. For the automatic diagnosis of DR from the fundus image, we also developed a network with the convolutional neural network architecture for accurately classifying its severity. By using high-end graphical processor unit (GPU), we trained this network on the publicly available dataset such as DRIVE, DIARETDB0, and DIARETDB1_v1, and the images collected from the Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore, India. general neural network based methodology that has the potential to replace the computationally-intensive site-specific seismic analysis of structures is proposed in this paper. The basic framework of the methodology consists of a feed forward back propagation neural network algorithm with one hidden layer to represent the seismic potential of a region and soil amplification effects. The methodology is implemented and verified with parameters corresponding to Delhi city in India. For this purpose, strong ground motions are generated at bedrock level for a chosen site in Delhi due to earthquakes considered to originate from the central seismic gap of the Himalayan belt using necessary geological as well as geotechnical data. Surface level ground motions and corresponding site-specific response spectra are obtained by using a one-dimensional equivalent linear wave propagation model. Spectral acceleration values are considered as a target parameter to verify the performance of the methodology. Numerical studies carried out to validate the proposed methodology show that the errors in predicted spectral acceleration values are within acceptable limits for design purposes. The positional accuracy of the Global Positioning System (GPS) is limited due to several error sources. The major error is ionosphere. By augmenting the GPS, the Category I (CAT I) Precision Approach (PA) requirements can be achieved. The Space-Based Augmentation System (SBAS) in India is known as GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation (GAGAN). One of the prominent errors in GAGAN that limits the positional accuracy is instrumental biases. Calibration of these biases is particularly important in achieving the CAT I PA landings. In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to estimate the instrumental biases by modelling the TEC using 4th order polynomial. The algorithm uses values corresponding to a single station for one month period and the results confirm the validity of the algorithm. The experimental results indicate that the estimation precision of the satellite-plus-receiver instrumental bias is of the order of ±0.17 nsec. The observed mean bias error is of the order −3.638 nsec and −4.71 nsec for satellite 1 and 31 respectively. It is found that results are consistent over the period. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents a Multi-objective Evolutionary Algorithm (MOEA) to derive a set of optimal operation policies for a multipurpose reservoir system. One of the main goals in multiobjective optimization is to find a set of well distributed optimal solutions along the Pareto front. Classical optimization methods often fail in attaining a good Pareto front. To overcome the drawbacks faced by the classical methods for Multi-objective Optimization Problems (MOOP), this study employs a population based search evolutionary algorithm namely Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) to generate a Pareto optimal set. The MOGA approach is applied to a realistic reservoir system, namely Bhadra Reservoir system, in India. The reservoir serves multiple purposes irrigation, hydropower generation and downstream water quality requirements. The results obtained using the proposed evolutionary algorithm is able to offer many alternative policies for the reservoir operator, giving flexibility to choose the best out of them. In this paper a metaheuristic technique called Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is proposed to derive operating policies for a multi-purpose reservoir system. Most of the real world problems often involve non-linear optimization in their solution with high dimensionality and large number of equality and inequality constraints. Often the conventional techniques fail to yield global optimal solutions. The recently proposed evolutionary algorithms are also facing problems, while solving large-scale problems. In this study, it is intended to test the usefulness of ACO in solving such type of problems. To formulate the ACO model for reservoir operation, the problem is approached by considering a finite time series of inflows, classifying the reservoir volume into several class intervals, and determining the reservoir release for each period with respect to a predefined optimality criterion. The ACO technique is applied to a case study of Hirakud reservoir, which is a multi-purpose reservoir system located in India. The multiple objectives comprise of minimizing flood risks, minimizing irrigation deficits and maximizing hydropower production in that order of priority. The developed model is applied for monthly operation, and consists of two models viz., for short-time horizon operation and for long-time horizon operation. To evaluate the performance of ACO, the developed models are also solved using real coded Genetic Algorithm (GA). The results of the two models indicate that ACO model performs better, in terms of higher annual power production, while satisfying irrigation demands and flood control restrictions, compared to those obtained by GA. Two algorithms are outlined, each of which has interesting features for modeling of spatial variability of rock depth. In this paper, reduced level of rock at Bangalore, India, is arrived from the 652 boreholes data in the area covering 220 sq⋅km. Support vector machine (SVM) and relevance vector machine (RVM) have been utilized to predict the reduced level of rock in the subsurface of Bangalore and to study the spatial variability of the rock depth. The support vector machine (SVM) that is firmly based on the theory of statistical learning theory uses regression technique by introducing ε-insensitive loss function has been adopted. RVM is a probabilistic model similar to the widespread SVM, but where the training takes place in a Bayesian framework. Prediction results show the ability of learning machine to build accurate models for spatial variability of rock depth with strong predictive capabilities. Typically, the acquired renal ultrasound image includes a course of speckle noises. This paper primarily investigates an approach for the detection of renal calculi by processing those raw US images with the help of a meta-heuristic SVM classifier. One of the major downsides of involving Ultrasound images in medical analysis is the prevalence of Speckle Noises. An Adaptive Mean Median Filter approach has been introduced in the work to get rid of the speckle noises to the maximum extent ever in the literature. Segmentation is performed by employing conventional K-Means and GLCM features were extracted for classification using a meta-heuristic SVM classifier. The proposed methodology investigates with a Real-time Acquired Dataset of Mithra Scans, Tamilnadu, India comprises of 250 clinical Ultra-Sound Kidney Images of which 150 are having Calculi and the rest are Healthy. With the experimental results, the proposed meta-heuristic SVM classifier have performed better in noisy images while comparing with other conventional methods considered in the literature. It exhibits an Accuracy of 98.8% with a FAR rate of 1.8 for FRR as high as 3.3. The results clearly proposed that the novel AMM-PSO-SVM could be a promising technique for object or foreign body detection in a medical imaging application that uses ultrasound imaging. Purpose: Non-contrast CT head scans provide rapid and accurate diagnosis of acute head injury; however, increased utilisation of CT head scans makes it difficult to prioritise acutely unwell patients and places pressure on busy emergency departments (EDs). This study validates an AI algorithm to triage patients presenting with Intracranial Haemorrhage (ICH) or Acute Infarct whilst also identifying a subset of patients as Normal, with the potential to function as a rule-out test. Methods: In total, 390 CT head scans were collected from 3 institutions in the UK, US and India. Ground-truth labels were assigned by 3 FRCR consultant radiologists. AI performance, as well as the performance of 3 independent radiologists, was measured against ground-truth labels. Results: The algorithm showed AUC values of 0.988 (0.978–0.994), 0.933 (0.901–0.961) and 0.939 (0.919–0.958) for ICH, Acute Infarct and Normal, respectively. Sensitivity/specificity for ICH and Acute Infarct were 0.988/0.925 and 0.833/0.927, respectively, compared to 0.907/0.991 and 0.618/0.977 for radiologists. AI rule-out of Normal scans achieved 0.93% negative predictive value (NPV) for the removal of 54.3% of Normal cases, compared to 86.8% NPV for radiologists. Conclusion: We show our algorithm can provide effective triage of ICH and Acute Infarct to prioritise acutely unwell patients. AI can also benefit clinical accuracy, with the algorithm identifying 91.3% of radiologist false negatives for ICH and 69.1% for Acute Infarct. The Autism Dysmorphology Measure is designed for non-expert clinicians. It uses an algorithm to assess 12 body regions and categorizes Autism on the number of dysmorphic regions identified; Essential (≤ 3), Equivocal (4–5) or Complex (≥ 6). We evaluated 200 Indian children with Autism (mean age 3.7 years) in a hospital-based cross-sectional study and compared inter-group profiles. We found 31% Essential, 49% Equivocal and 20% Complex Autism. On comparing results with existing literature, it appeared that genetic ancestry and age significantly influenced dysmorphism and hence categorization. No significant differences were observed between complex and essential autism in epilepsy, severity of autism or development, as reported earlier. The objective of this article is to develop a new positioning algorithm to estimate the position accurately in low latitude region and assess the algorithm's performance in terms of accuracy and precision. The Kalman Filter (KF) has been widely recognized as one of the most powerful state estimation techniques in estimating system state variables and suppressing measurement noise. The Kalman Filter is desirable because the uncertainty in the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) estimation can be minimized. In this article, we implemented a new algorithm called as Cross-Correntropy Kalman Filter (CCKF) to enhance the position accuracy and performance of the GPS receiver. Primarily the improvement depends on the Cross-Correntropy criterion which is a measure of local similarity, and a novel Fixed-Point algorithm for updating subsequent estimates. In this work, we present a thorough derivation of the method suggested, how to accurately measure the estimate of the GPS receiver position. This research helps define motorized level of service (MLOS) for different categories of uncontrolled intersections using mixed hierarchical clustering technique. Service and total delay has been considered for classifying MLOS and intersections, respectively. GPS is used to collect travel time and speed data for turning movements which are transformed to average delay values. Thirteen intersections from eight different cities in India form the dataset. Divisive followed by agglomerative clustering (DAC-HAC) algorithm is applied as a two-step process for obtaining the service and total delay ranges. Validation of clusters is performed based on Davies–Bouldin score, Calinski–Harabasz index and Silhouette gaps. Based on DAC-HAC, uncontrolled intersections are classified into six categories (Cat-I, II, III, IV, V and VI). Results indicate MLOS classes "D", "E" and "F" have significantly higher service delay ranges as compared to Highway Capacity Manual "control" delay ranges indicating mixed traffic conditions. Most of the uncontrolled intersections under mixed traffic fall under Cat-IV, V and VI having higher total delay ranges (greater than 60 s/vehicle/approach). Self-adaptive cuckoo search algorithm is used to optimize the design of water distribution system problems. It is proposed to dynamically adjust the two sensitive parameters of the algorithm, (i) step size control parameter 'α' and (ii) discovering probability parameter 'Pa' which largely govern the exploration and exploitation search strategies of the algorithm. These parameters are essential for enhancing the performance of the algorithm and normally the values of these parameters needs careful selection according to the type of problem. Single objective self-adaptive cuckoo search algorithm (SACSA) and multi-objective self-adaptive cuckoo search algorithm (SAMOSCA) are proposed in this study. Robustness and efficiency of these algorithms in single (minimization of cost) and multi-objective scenarios (minimization of cost and maximization of resilience) is validated using standard water distribution benchmark problems i.e. Two loop and Hanoi network. These are later applied to solve a medium size real-life water distribution system located at Pamapur, Telangana, India. A simulation-optimization based program combining the water distribution network simulation software EPANET 2.2 and MATLAB is used for computation. The proposed methodology has provided better results in terms of computational efficiency as well as found better solutions when compared to the previously reported results in both single and multi-objective scenarios. In the case of multi-objective problems, it has been observed that SAMOCSA has been able to find new points in pareto front when compared to the best-known pareto front reported in the literature. The institutions of education can utilize educational data mining to examine the performance of students which can support the institution in recognizing the student's performance. In data mining classification is a familiar technique that has been implemented widely to find the performance of students. In this study a new prediction algorithm for evaluating student's performance in academia has been developed based on both classification and clustering techniques and been ested on a real time basis with student dataset of various academic disciplines of higher educational institutions in Kerala, India. The result proves that the hybrid algorithm combining clustering and classification approaches yields results that are far superior in terms of achieving accuracy in prediction of academic performance of the students. Background: There are limited data on the use of artificial intelligence methods for the diagnosis of dementia in epidemiological studies in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings. A culture and education fair battery of cognitive tests was developed and validated for population based studies in low- and middle-income countries including India by the 10/66 Dementia Research Group.Aims: We explored the machine learning methods based on the 10/66 battery of cognitive tests for the diagnosis of dementia based in a birth cohort study in South India.Methods: The data sets for 466 men and women for this study were obtained from the on-going Mysore Studies of Natal effect of Health and Ageing (MYNAH), in south India. The data sets included: demographics, performance on the 10/66 cognitive function tests, the 10/66 diagnosis of mental disorders and population based normative data for the 10/66 battery of cognitive function tests. Diagnosis of dementia from the rule based approach was compared against the 10/66 diagnosis of dementia. We have applied machine learning techniques to identify minimal number of the 10/66 cognitive function tests required for diagnosing dementia and derived an algorithm to improve the accuracy of dementia diagnosis.Results: Of 466 subjects, 27 had 10/66 diagnosis of dementia, 19 of whom were correctly identified as having dementia by Jrip classification with 100% accuracy.Conclusions: This pilot exploratory study indicates that machine learning methods can help identify community dwelling older adults with 10/66 criterion diagnosis of dementia with good accuracy in a LMIC setting such as India. This should reduce the duration of the diagnostic assessment and make the process easier and quicker for clinicians, patients and will be useful for 'case' ascertainment in population based epidemiological studies. Physical and psychological stressors of HIV infection demand adequate coping responses from persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) and coping strategies may vary by cultural context. The Brief COPE is a well validated scale that has been used extensively to assess coping with cancer, depression, and HIV infection in other settings, but never in India. In this study we translated and validated the 28 item Brief COPE among 299 PLHA in South India, assessing reliability, validity, and cultural appropriateness. Although the original scale demonstrated acceptable internal consistency (alpha = 0.70) and good convergent validity with depression, the test-retest reliability was marginal (test-retest = 0.6) and the original factor structure demonstrated poor fit in a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). An exploratory factor analysis yielded a 16 item scale with five factors (active planning, social support, avoidant emotions, substance use, religion). Recently, many authentication protocols have been presented using smartcard for the telecare medicine information system (TMIS). In 2014, Xu et al. put forward a two-factor mutual authentication with key agreement protocol using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC). However, the authors have proved that the protocol is not appropriate for practical use as it has many problems (1) it fails to achieve strong authentication in login and authentication phases; (2) it fails to update the password correctly in the password change phase; (3) it fails to provide the revocation of lost/stolen smartcard; and (4) it fails to protect the strong replay attack. We then devised an anonymous and provably secure two-factor authentication protocol based on ECC. Our protocol is analyzed with the random oracle model and demonstrated to be formally secured against the hardness assumption of computational Diffie-Hellman problem. This study is an attempt to find best alternative method to estimate reference evapotranspiration (ETo) for the Mahanadi reservoir project (MRP) command area located at Raipur (Chhattisgarh) in India, when input climatic parameters are insufficient to apply standard Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations Penman-Monteith (P-M) method. To identify the best alternative climatic based method that yield results closest to the P-M method, performances of four climate based methods namely Blaney-Criddle, Radiation, Modified Penman and Pan evaporation were compared with the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith method. Performances were evaluated using the statistical indices. The statistical indices used in the analysis were the standard error of estimate (SEE), raw standard error of estimate (RSEE) and the model efficiency. Study was extended to identify the ability of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) for estimation of ETo in comparison to climatic based methods. The networks, using varied input combinations of climatic variables have been trained using the backpropagation with variable learning rate training algorithm. ANN models were performed better than the climatic based methods in all performance indices. We present an inversion technique based on the Marquardt algorithm to estimate the depth of a 2.5-D sedimentary basin in addition to the regional gravity anomaly that is associated with the residual gravity anomaly, wherein the density contrast varies parabolically with depth. Forward modeling is carried out through a derived analytical gravity expression of a 2.5-D vertical prism. Inversion of a theoretical gravity anomaly with and without a regional gravity anomaly illustrates the procedure that it is found to be insensitive to the regional gravity effect. Furthermore, the algorithm is exemplified with the gravity anomalies of the derived density-depth model of the Godavari subbasin, India with a parabolic density profile resulting in a more consistent geological model rather than a constant density profile. Objective: To compare hospital outcome prediction using an artificial neural network model, built on an Indian data set, with the APACHE II (Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II) logistic regression model.Design: Analysis of a database containing prospectively collected data.Setting: Medical-neurological ICU of a university hospital in Mumbai, India.Subjects: Two thousand sixty-two consecutive admissions between 1996 and 1998.Interventions: None.Measurements and Results: The 22 variables used to obtain day-1 APACHE II score and risk of death were recorded. Data from 1,962 patients were used to train the neural network using a back-propagation algorithm. Data from the remaining 1,000 patients were used for testing this model and comparing it with APACHE II. There were 337 deaths in these 1,000 patients; APACHE II predicted 246 deaths while the neural network predicted 336 deaths. Calibration, assessed by the Hosmer-Lemeshow statistic, was better with the neural network (H=22.4) than with APACHE II (H=123.5) and so was discrimination (area under receiver operating characteristic curve =0.87 versus 0.77, p=0.002). Analysis of information gain due to each of the 22 variables revealed that the neural network could predict outcome using only 15 variables. A new model using these 15 variables predicted 335 deaths, had calibration (H=27.7) and discrimination (area under receiver operating characteristic curve =0.88) which was comparable to the 22-variable model (p=0.87) and superior to the APACHE II equation (p<0.001).Conclusion: Artificial neural networks, trained on Indian patient data, used fewer variables and yet outperformed the APACHE II system in predicting hospital outcome. This article outlines a method of estimating probabilities of gross transfers from one age to another due to misreporting of age. An essential ingredient in the computation is the information on the true age structure of the population, which may be estimated by using generalized stable population relationships. The method consists essentially of iteratively adjusting rows and columns of an initial guess matrix so that the application of the resultant transition matrix to the true age distribution produces the recorded age distribution. The initial guess matrix can be either empirically based or theoretically derived. The method is illustrated by using data on India, 1971-1981. The application reveals that in India, although the tendency to exaggerate age is strong at adult ages, the bias does not increase appreciably at older ages, as is commonly believed. The Proposed Work divided into two steps, at first, we detect the entire eye region outer layer by using mathematics first order derivatives by applying combinations of canny edge detection and circular hough transform. The next, we detect the inner portion of eye region that is Iris region is detected by combination of sobel edge detector and circular hough transform, As the results thereby reducing the error rate, marking the edges closest to the actual edges for maximizing the localization, indicating edges and also detect the inner and outer layer of the eye portions accurately. Finally this process is applied for cerebral palsy Children to detect the misalignment of eye and obtain the deviation position and results are compared with normal children eyes. In recent years, Brain tumor detection and segmentation has created an interest on research areas. The process of identifying and segmenting brain tumor is a very tedious and time consuming task, since human physique has anatomical structure naturally. Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) scan analysis is a powerful tool that makes effective detection of the abnormal tissues from the brain. Among different techniques, Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI) is a liable one which contains several modalities in scanning the images captured from interior structure of human brain. A novel hybrid energy-efficient method is proposed for automatic tumor detection and segmentation. The proposed system follows K-means clustering, integrated with Fuzzy C-Means (KMFCM) and active contour by level set for tumor segmentation. An effective segmentation, edge detection and intensity enhancement can detect brain tumor easily. For that, active contour with level set method has been utilized. The performance of the proposed approach has been evaluated in terms of white pixels, black pixels, tumor detected area, and the processing time. This technique can deal with a higher number of segmentation problem and minimum execution time by ensuring segmentation quality. Additionally, tumor area length in vertical and horizontal positions is determined to measure sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and similarity index values. Further, tumor volume is computed. Knowledge of the information of tumor is helpful for the physicians for effective diagnosing in tumor for treatments.
