Bioactive molecules are secondary metabolites having pharmacological activities. They may be harmful or useful depending upon the nature and dose of respective bioactive molecule. It includes carbohydrate, protein, fats, nucleic acids, enzymes which maintains homeostasis of the body. Fats are the biomolecule which are highly rich in caloric value (9.3 kcal/mole). Fat molecules are present in the body as food reservoirs, structural components, heat insulator, source of hormones and bile acids and act as carrier for vitamins. Oils also help in the absorption and assimilation of nutrients, improves memory power and lubricates connective tissue and organs. Fat and oil consumption can help alleviate various ailments such as dry skin, stiffness, constipation and arthritis.
