Abstract

Vietnam has about 2 million visual impairments people. In which only 8% go to school, 15% are trained in vocational centers and 20% have job opportunities. The blinds have many difficulties in living as well as learning and socializing. For the blind, learning Braille is the best way to minimize difficulties in all aspects of life. Each Braille is made up of 6 points; these points form a rectangular frame of two columns and three rows. The combination of six floatingsink points creates encoding for all characters. The scientific and technological solution that we have proposed with the goal of supporting Braille children to learn Braille in IoT applications. The product system includes many Braille coding devices for the blind; each module is used by a blind person. Each device is connected to the system’s server which is designed on the internet.

Abstract

This research focuses on design, manufacturing and testing of a 3-DOF haptic telemanipulator system featuring MR brakes and torque estimator of AC servomotors. The haptic telemanipulators are composed of a slave manipulator and a haptic master manipulator. The slave manipulator is a commercial industrial robot with three-rotary DOF (elbow manipulator). The haptic master manipulator is designed with the same kinematic chain and kinematic dimensions as the slave. At the joints of the master, MR brakes are integrated in order to generate braking torques corresponding to the torques estimated from the servomotors of the slave. With this configuration, a desired force acting on the operator of the master slave, which is proportional to the load at the end-effecter of the slave can be archived. After the introduction, design and simulation of the proposed haptic telemanipulator system, experimental work is conducted and some experimental results are obtained and presented with discussion.

Abstract

In this paper, we introduce a method of recognition numbers and special characters of Vietnam sign language. We address a development of a glove-based gesture recognition system. A sensor glove is attached ten flex sensors and one accelerometer. Flex sensors are used for sensing the curvature of fingers and the accelerometer is used in detecting a movement of a hand. Depending on the hand’s postures, i.e., vertical, horizontal, and movement, sign language of numbers and special characters can be divided to group 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Firstly, the hand’s posture is recognized. Next, if the hand’s posture belongs to either group 1 or group 2, a matching algorithm is used to detect a number or one of special characters. If the posture belongs to group 3, a dynamic time warping algorithm is applied. The use of our system in recognizing Vietnamese sign language is illustrated. In addition, experimental results are provided.
