Abstract

Modelling the transient simulation of magnetic circuits is the crucial process for development of modern switching mode power converters. Such models are especially important for newly developed magnetic materials, such as amorphous alloys. Paper presents the gyrator-capacitor model of inductive element with core made of high permeability, Co-based amorphous alloy. Parameters of the model were identified during Nedler-Mead method based optimization process. Presented results of modelling confirm that model can be used for SPICE simulations; however, the accuracy of losses modeling is limited in the wide range of frequencies.

Abstract

The article presents an algorithm for automatic determination of steps and individual phases of human gait based on data from an inertial sensor. To obtain the necessary data, measurements were made using Xsens inertial sensors from the MTw Awinda set. Changes in the feet rotation angles during gait and acceleration data were investigated. After a thorough analysis of the data, an algorithm for determining the step phases was implemented, based on which an application was created for automatically dividing gait into steps and steps into individual phases, which allows later analysis of gait parameters, e.g. for medical diagnosis. The main function of the application is a graphical presentation of the algorithm’s operation, by generating a graph of data along with the selected step phases.

Abstract

The article describes a method to help experts selecting the most probable locations of settlements inhabited by the people in Crete under the Venetian rule (1204–1669). The method ranks the possible location in the designated area based on a set of criteria, but also considering the natural obstacles, e.g. terrain. This multi-criteria task is solved using a modification of the Bellman-Ford algorithm for each criteria and then combining them using weighted sum. The explanation is supported by a small test case.

Abstract

Hall-effect sensors are commonly used in many industrial applications as position detectors, incremental counters and sensing elements of DC current transformers. Previously developed Hall-effect sensors utilize InAs or InSb as a sensing material. Recently, graphene seems to be the most promising material. Monolayer graphene was grown using the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) method on the substrates. Prior to the growth, in situ etching of the SiC surface was carried out in hydrogen atmosphere. Functional properties of developed Hall-effect sensors based on graphene were tested on special experimental setup. Results presented in the paper indicate, that graphene is very promising material for development of Hall-effect sensors. Such sensors exhibit high magnetic field sensitivity and linear characteristic. It was also observed, that functional parameters of graphene Hall-effect sensors are diversified from the point of view of its transport properties. This phenomenon creates important possibilities of further optimization of Hall-effect sensors during their production.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigation of X30Cr13 construction steel in a wide range of magnetizing fields from the Rayleigh region to the near-saturation region. The measurement system with hydraulic press as a source of external tensile stress is described as well as investigated samples of the X30Cr13 steel. Obtained results are presented in the paper separately for Rayleigh region and for higher magnetizing fields. Occurrence of the Villari effect is confirmed for entire range of magnetizing filed applied during the investigation. On the basis of obtained results, conclusion about possible application of the results in the stress assessment in constructional steel was formulated, which is included in the last section of the paper.

Abstract

The following paper presents results of investigation of the magnetoelastic Villari effect in steel truss. Construction of the specially developed steel truss allowed to investigate three identical steel elements at the same time, where one element was subjected to the tensile stress and two elements were influenced by the compressive stress. For all three elements the magnetic characteristics for different values of applied mechanical stress were measured. Purpose of the performed investigation was experimental validation of the theory of magnetoelastic Villari effect for steel. For tensile stress initial increase of the magnetic flux density was observed up to the Villari reversal point and then values of magnetic flux density started to decrease. For compressive stress only decrease of the magnetic flux density was observed. Obtained experimental results confirmed theoretical description of the Villari magnetoelastic effect.

Abstract

Paper presents the methodology and results of magnetoelastic characteristics investigation of three types of constructional steels. Investigated steels were formed into frame-shaped samples with both magnetizing and sensing windings coiled on their columns. Magnetic characteristics of materials were measured by computer controlled hysteresisgraph. In order to apply tensile stresses in material of the sample, special force reversing system was used. The tested samples and the procedure of their investigation were described. Obtained results were processed and presented in the paper as charts, which were analyzed and discussed. On the basis of the results, the conclusions were formulated, which are also included in the paper.

Abstract

The subject of this paper was to investigate the temperature influence on the magnetic characteristics B-H of crystalline soft magnetic materials. Four different Mn-Zn ferrite material were investigated. The investigated ferrites were formed into ring-shaped cores with closed magnetic circuit and magnetizing and sensing windings were coiled on them. All cores were placed in the cryostat which was used to set temperature. Magnetic B-H characteristics was measured by computer controlled hysteresis graph. The results of the investigations were presented in the paper and analyzed. On the basis of presented results, the conclusions were formulated, which are also included in the paper.

Abstract

Paper presents the results of investigation on the tensile stresses dependence of magnetic characteristics of the heat resistant 13CrMo4-5 steel. For this investigation, the frame-shaped samples were used. Due to the specialized force reversing system, compressive force generates the uniform tensile stresses in the sample. Magnetic characteristics are measured under these stresses by digitally controlled hysteresis graph. On the base of results of measurements the magnetoelastic characteristics of resistant 13CrMo4-5 steel were determined. These characteristics indicate that change from elastic to plastic deformation significantly changes the magnetic properties of this steel. This information has great technical importance from the point of view of non-destructive testing of construction elements made of heat resistant 13CrMo4-5 steel.
