Abstract

In Poland, several hospital information systems have been developed or are in progres. They are oriented towards solutions of specific fragmentary problems and developed on various home and imported hardware. This way is not preferable for a country in a down economy period and in 1984 a project was initiated for development of a reproducible complex information system which should constitute a sound basis for a global Health Service Information System in our country.
