Abstract

Using Femtosecond Multidimensional Imaging we disentangle the complex neutral dissociation mechanism of the NO dimer. We characterize all electronic configurations from start to finish and directly observe the evolution of intramolecular vibrational energy redistribution (IVR).

Abstract

Femtosecond time resolved photoelectron-photoion Coincidence Imaging Spectroscopy was used to study the non-adiabatic photodissociation dynamics of the NO dimer at 209 nm. Correlated photoelectron-photofragment energy and angular distributions reveal new details of the dissociation dynamics.

The coupling of charge and energy flow processes in molecules underlies photochemistry, photobiology and molecular electronics. Time-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy disentangles these processes. Timing-Imaging detection of photoions and photoelectrons in coincidence provides new levels of detail.
