Objective: We aim to describe the population pharmacokinetics (PPK) of tacrolimus in Chinese pediatric patients under 4 years old after liver transplantation and to develop individualized tacrolimus dosing software., Methods: A total of 663 blood concentrations from 85 patients aged 4.57 months to 3.97 years were collected in this study. PPK analysis was performed using a nonlinear mixed effects modeling approach with the software, Phoenix. Using C#, an individualized tacrolimus dosing software was created. The software was then used to predict the concentrations of another ten pediatric liver transplantation patients to verify the accuracy of said software. The predictive error (PE) and the absolute predictive error (APE) for each predicted time point were computed., Results: A one-compartment model with first-order elimination best fitted the data. The apparent volume of distribution (V/F) and apparent clearance (CL/F) were 198.65 L and 2.41 L/h. Postoperative days (POD), total bilirubin (TBIL), and the use of voriconazole significantly influenced tacrolimus apparent clearance. The incorporation of an increasing number of actual blood drug concentrations into the prediction resulted in a decrease in both PE (72%, 17%, 7%) and APE (87%, 53%, 26%)., Conclusions: A qualified PPK model of tacrolimus was developed in Chinese pediatric patients. The regeneration of peripheral nerves after injury is often slow and impaired, which may be associated with weakened and denervated muscles subsequently leading to atrophy. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are often regarded as cell-based therapeutic candidate due to their regenerative potential. The study aims to assess the therapeutic efficacy of gene-modified ADSCs on sciatic nerve injury. We lentivirally transduced ADSCs with shRNA-TWIST1 and transplanted modified cells to rats undergoing sciatic nerve transection and repair. Results showed that TWIST1 knockdown accelerated functional recovery of rats with sciatic nerve injury as faster nerve conduction velocity and higher wire hang scores obtained by rats transplanted with TWIST1-silenced ADSCs than scramble ADSCs. Although the rats experienced degenerated axons and decreased myelin sheath thickness after sciatic nerve injury 8 weeks after operation, those transplanted with TWIST1-silenced ADSCs exhibited more signs of regenerated nerve fibers surrounded by newly formed myelin sheaths than those with scramble ADSCs. The rats transplanted with TWIST1-silenced ADSCs presented increased expressions of neurotrophic factors including neurotrophin-3 (NT-3), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), nerve growth factor (NGF), and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) in the sciatic nerves than those with scramble ADSCs. These results suggest that genetically modifying TWIST1 in ADSCs could facilitate peripheral nerve repair after injury in a more efficient way than that with ADSCs alone., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

Purpose: Herein, we investigated the correlation between urinary calcium excretion (UCaE) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)., Methods: From August 2018 to January 2023, a total of 2031 T2DM patients providing 24-h urine samples were included in the final analyses. Patients were separated into four cohorts, based on the UCaE quartiles. We then analyzed renal functional indicators like estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) and urinary albumin excretion (UAE) among the four groups. Lastly, we utilized multivariable logistic regression models to investigate the correlation between UCaE and CKD., Results: After adjusting for confounding factors, we observed a decreasing trend in CKD prevalence (36.3%, 13.0%, 7.5%, and 6.6%, respectively, P < 0.001) across the UCaE quartiles. Albuminuria (55.5% vs. 40.0%, 36.5%, 37.4%) and macroalbuminuria prevalence (20.0% vs. 9.3%, 5.2%, 5.7%) in the lowest quartile were markedly elevated, compared to the remaining three quartiles (P < 0.001). Meanwhile, the eGFR level (P < 0.001) showed a clearly increasing trend across the UCaE quartiles, and patients with moderate-to-severe decreases in eGFR levels (with cutoff limits at 30-59, 15-30, and < 15 mL/min/1.73m2) were mostly found in the lowest quartile (P < 0.001). Logistic regression analysis revealed that patients in the lowest quartile experienced an enhanced prevalence of CKD, relative to those in the highest quartile (odds ratio: 5.90, 95% confidence interval: 3.60-9.67, P < 0.001)., Conclusion: Decreased UCaE was independently associated with the CKD prevalence in T2DM patients., (© 2024. In plants, nitric oxide (NO) has been widely accepted as a signaling molecule that plays a role in different processes. Among the most relevant pathways by which NO and its derivatives realize their biological functions, post-translational protein modifications are worth mentioning. Protein S-nitrosylation has been the most studied NO-dependent regulatory mechanism; it is emerging as an essential mechanism for transducing NO bioactivity in plants and animals. In recent years, the research of protein S-nitrosylation in plant growth and development has made significant progress, including processes such as seed germination, root development, photosynthetic regulation, flowering regulation, apoptosis, and plant senescence. Background: Post-endoscopic submucosal dissection electrocoagulation syndrome (PEECS) is an uncommon complication after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). This study aimed to explore the risk factors of PEECS for superficial colorectal lesions based on the latest and consistent diagnostic criteria and to establish a predictive nomogram model., Methods: This retrospective analysis included patients with superficial colorectal lesions who underwent endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) between June 2008 and December 2021 in our center. The independent risk factors of PEECS for superficial colorectal lesions were identified using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) logistic regression analysis, as well as univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression, and derived predictive nomogram model was constructed., Results: Among the 555 patients with superficial colorectal lesions enrolled, PEECS occurred in 45 (8.1%) patients. Multivariate logistic regression revealed that female sex (OR 3.94, P < 0.001), age > 50 years (OR 4.28, P = 0.02), injury to muscle layer (OR 10.38, P < 0.001), non-lifting sign (OR 2.20, P = 0.04) and inadequate bowel preparation (OR 5.61, P < 0.001) were independent risk factors of PEECS for superficial colorectal lesions. A predictive nomogram model was constructed based on the above five predictors. For this model, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.855, the calibration curve exhibited good consistency between the prediction and the actual observation, and the C-index was confirmed as 0.843 by bootstrap method., Conclusion: Female sex, age > 50 years, injury to muscle layer, non-lifting sign and inadequate bowel preparation were independent risk factors of PEECS for superficial colorectal lesions. Background: Dieulafoy's lesion (DL) is a rare and important cause of acute nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (ANVUGIB), however, there is a lack of clear guidelines focus on the endoscopic hemostasis treatment for DL. Sclerotherapy, as the ANVUGIB guideline recommended endoscopic hemostasis method, is widely used in clinical practice. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of sclerotherapy as the initial treatment for Dieulafoy's lesion of the upper gastrointestinal tract (UDL)., Methods: Patients with UDL who underwent the ANVUGIB standard endoscopic hemostasis between April 2007 and January 2023 were enrolled. The endoscopic therapy method was left to the discretion of the endoscopist., Results: In total, 219 patients were finally obtained, with 74 (33.8%) receiving sclerotherapy and 145 (66.2%) receiving other standard endoscopic therapy. The rebleeding within 30 days was significantly lower in the sclerotherapy group compared to the other standard group (5.8% vs. 16.8%, p = 0.047). There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of successful hemostasis rate (93.2% vs. 94.5%, p = 0.713), median number of red blood cell transfusions (3.5 vs. 4.0 units, p = 0.257), median hospital stay (8.0 vs. 8.0 days, p = 0.103), transferred to ICU rate (8.1% vs. 6.2%, p = 0.598), the need for embolization or surgery rate (12.2% vs. 9.7%, p = 0.567) and 30-day mortality (0 vs. 2.1%, p = 0.553). In addition, we found no difference in efficacy between sclerotherapy alone and combination (3.1% vs. 8.1%, p = 0.714). Further analysis revealed that thermocoagulation for hemostasis was associated with a higher rate of rebleeding (28.6% vs. 3.1%, p = 0.042) and longer hospital stay (11.5 vs. 7.5 days, p = 0.005) compared to sclerotherapy alone., Conclusion: Sclerotherapy represents an effective endoscopic therapy for both alone and combined use in patients with upper gastrointestinal Dieulafoy's lesion. SIRT2 play important roles in cell cycle and cellular metabolism in the development of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), and SIRT2 exhibits its therapeutic effect on NSCLC tumors with high expression of SIRT2. Nevertheless, the clinical relevance of SIRT2 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), particularly its impact on tumor growth and prognostic implications, remains obscure. This investigation entailed a comprehensive analysis of SIRT2 mRNA and protein expression levels in diverse tumor and corresponding healthy tissues, utilizing databases such as TIMER 2.0, UALCAN, and HPA. Prognostic correlations of SIRT2 expression in LUAD patients, stratified by distinct clinicopathological characteristics, were evaluated using the KM Plotter database. Additionally, the TCGA and TIMER 2.0 databases were employed to assess the relationship between SIRT2 and immune infiltration, as well as to calculate immunity, stromal, and estimation scores, thus elucidating the role of SIRT2 in modulating tumor immunotherapy responses. Furthermore, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) was utilized to elucidate SIRT2's biological functions in pan-cancer cells. Our findings revealed a marked reduction in both mRNA and protein levels of SIRT2 in LUAD tumors relative to healthy tissue. Survival analysis indicated that diminished SIRT2 expression correlates with adverse prognostic outcomes in LUAD. Furthermore, SIRT2 expression demonstrated a significant association with various clinicopathologic attributes of LUAD patients, influencing survival outcomes across different clinicopathologic states. Functional enrichment analyses highlighted SIRT2's involvement in cell cycle regulation and immune response. Notably, SIRT2 exhibited a positive correlation with immune cell infiltration, including natural killer (NK) cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells (DCs). This study leverages nanotechnology by encapsulating indocyanine green (ICG) and paclitaxel (Tax) using zeolitic imidazolate frameworks-8 (ZIF-8) as a scaffold. This study aims to investigate the chemo-photothermal therapeutic potential of ZIF-8@ICG@Tax nanoparticles (NPs) in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). An "all-in-one" theranostic ZIF-8@ICG@Tax NPs was conducted by self-assembly based on electrostatic interaction. First, the photothermal effect, stability, pH responsiveness, drug release, and blood compatibility of ZIF-8@ICG@Tax were evaluated through in vitro testing. Furthermore, the hepatic and renal toxicity of ZIF-8@ICG@Tax were assessed through in vivo testing. Additionally, the anticancer effects of these nanoparticles were investigated both in vitro and in vivo. Uniform and stable chemo-photothermal ZIF-8@ICG@Tax NPs had been successfully synthesized and had outstanding drug releasing capacities. Moreover, ZIF-8@ICG@Tax NPs showed remarkable responsiveness dependent both on pH in the tumor microenvironment and NIR irradiation, allowing for targeted drug delivery and controlled drug release. NIR irradiation can enhance the tumor cell response to ZIF-8@ICG@Tax uptake, thereby promoting the anti-tumor growth in vitro and in vivo. ZIF-8@ICG@Tax and NIR irradiation have demonstrated remarkable synergistic anti-tumor growth properties compared to their individual components. Doramectin, an essential animal anthelmintic, is synthesized through the fermentation process of Streptomyces avermitilis. This study delves into the transcriptomic profiles of two strains, namely the doramectin-producing wild-type S. avermitilis N72 and its highly doramectin-producing mutant counterpart, S. avermitilis XY-62. Comparative analysis revealed 860 up-regulated genes and 762 down-regulated genes in the mutant strain, notably impacting the expression of key genes pivotal in doramectin biosynthesis, including aveA1, aveA2, aveA3, aveA4, aveE, and aveBI. The marine ecological compensation (MEC) policy is a scheme for protecting and restoring marine ecology. The previous studies have verified that the policy has improved the marine environment, ignoring the comprehensive performance of the economy and environment. Is the MEC policy actually effective for reducing marine carbon emission considering resource input and economy output? To address the question, this paper evaluates the impact of MEC policy on marine carbon emission efficiency by introducing the multi-stage difference-in-difference with propensity score matching. The results show that the MEC policy significantly improves marine carbon emission efficiency, and the positive effects dynamically enhance over time. Low-carbon technology innovation is confirmed to play a mediating role by which the MEC policy improves marine carbon emission efficiency. Therefore, gradually popularizing the MEC policy and accelerating low-carbon technology innovation are crucial measures to improve marine carbon emission efficiency and achieve sustainable marine development., (© 2023. Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are common clinical critical diseases with high morbidity and mortality. Especially since the COVID-19 outbreak, the mortality rates of critically ill patients with ARDS can be as high as 60%. Therefore, this problem has become a matter of concern to respiratory critical care. To date, the main clinical measures for ALI/ARDS are mechanical ventilation and drug therapy. Although ventilation treatment reduces mortality, it increases the risk of hyperxemia, and drug treatment lacks safe and effective delivery methods. Therefore, novel therapeutic strategies for ALI/ARDS are urgently needed. Developments in nanotechnology have allowed the construction of a safe, efficient, precise, and controllable drug delivery system. However, problems still encounter in the treatment of ALI/ARDS, such as the toxicity, poor targeting ability, and immunogenicity of nanomaterials. Cell-derived biomimetic nanodelivery drug systems have the advantages of low toxicity, long circulation, high targeting, and high bioavailability and show great therapeutic promises for ALI/ARDS owing to their acquired cellular biological features and some functions. Deficiency of citrin, the liver-type aspartate-glutamate carrier, arises from biallelic mutations of the gene SLC25A13. Although citrin deficiency (CD) is associated with higher risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in adult patients, this association remains inconclusive in pediatric cases. The patient in this paper had been diagnosed to have CD by SLC25A13 analysis at the age 10 months, and then in response to dietary therapy, her prolonged jaundice and marked hepatosplenomegaly resolved gradually. However, she was referred to the hospital once again due to recurrent abdominal distention for 2 weeks at her age 4 years and 9 months, when prominently enlarged liver and spleen were palpated, along with a strikingly elevated serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) level of 27605 ng/mL as well as a large mass in the right liver lobe and a suspected tumor thrombus within the portal vein on enhanced computed tomography. After 4 rounds of adjuvant chemotherapy, right hepatic lobectomy and portal venous embolectomy were performed at her age 5 years and 3 months, and metastatic hepatoblastoma was confirmed by histopathological analysis. Afterwards, the patient underwent 5 additional cycles of chemotherapy and her condition remained stable for 7 months after surgery. Unfortunately, hepatoblastoma recurred in the left lobe at the age 5 years and 10 months, which progressed rapidly into liver failure, and led to death at the age 6 years and 1 month. Obesity, which is driven by inflammation and oxidative stress, is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, is an antidiabetic drug with major effects on weight loss. In this study, single-cell transcriptomics was used to examine non-cardiomyocytes to uncover the mechanism of obesity-induced myocardial damage and the cardioprotective impact of semaglutide. We constructed obese mouse models and measured Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α), Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS), and Malonic dialdehyde (MDA) levels in serum and heart tissue to determine the levels of inflammation and oxidative stress in obesity and the effect of semaglutide on these levels. Then, utilizing single-cell transcriptomes to screen for key cell populations and differentially expressed genes (DEGs), we assessed the effects of obesity and semaglutide on non-cardiac cells. Finally, a DEG localization analysis was performed to explore DEGs as well as cell types associated with inflammation and oxidative stress. Semaglutide reduced increased TNF-α, IL-6, ROS, and MDA levels in serum and cardiac tissues in obese mouse. Several genes are closely associated with inflammation and oxidative stress. Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 2 (Cxcl2), S100 calcium binding protein A8 (S100a8), and S100 calcium binding protein A9 (S100a9), which were elevated in obesity but decreased following semaglutide treatment, were also expressed particularly in neutrophils. Finally, by decreasing neutrophil Cxcl2, S100a8, and S100a9 expressions, semaglutide may help to reduce cardiac inflammation and oxidative stress. Semaglutide significantly reduced body weight in obese mice as well as exerted anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects possibly by inhibiting the expression of S100a8, S100a9, and Cxcl2 in neutrophils. Invasive gene expression profiling studies have exposed prognostically significant breast cancer subtypes: normal-like, luminal, HER-2 enriched, and basal-like, which is defined in large part by human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2), progesterone receptor (PR), and estrogen receptor (ER). However, while dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) has been generally employed in the screening and therapy of breast cancer, there is a challenging problem to noninvasively predict breast cancer molecular subtypes, which have extremely low-data regimes. In this paper, a novel few-shot learning scheme, which combines lightweight contrastive convolutional neural network (LC-CNN) and multi-contrast learning strategy (MCLS), is worthwhile to be developed for predicting molecular subtype of breast cancer in DCE-MRI. Moreover, MCLS is designed to construct One-vs-Rest and One-vs-One classification tasks, which addresses inter-class similarity among normal-like, luminal, HER-2 enriched, and basal-like. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our proposed scheme over state-of-the-art methods. Purpose: Accurately locating and analysing surgical instruments in laparoscopic surgical videos can assist doctors in postoperative quality assessment. This can provide patients with more scientific and rational solutions for healing surgical complications. Therefore, we propose an end-to-end algorithm for the detection of surgical instruments., Methods: Dual-Branched Head (DBH) and Overall Intersection over Union Loss (OIoU Loss) are introduced to solve the problem of inaccurate surgical instrument detection, both in terms of localization and classification. An effective method (DBHYOLO) for the detection for laparoscopic surgery in complex scenarios is proposed. This study manually annotates a new laparoscopic gastric cancer resection surgical instrument location dataset LGIL, which provides a better validation platform for surgical instrument detection methods., Results: The proposed method's performance was tested using the m2cai16-tool-locations, LGIL, and Onyeogulu datasets. The mean Average Precision (mAP) values obtained were 96.8%, 95.6%, and 98.4%, respectively, which were higher than the other classical models compared. The improved model is more effective than the benchmark network in distinguishing between surgical instrument classes with high similarity and avoiding too many missed detection cases., Conclusions: In this paper, the problem of inaccurate detection of surgical instruments is addressed from two different perspectives: classification and localization. Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) was widely used for the removal of esophageal tumors, and post-endoscopic submucosal dissection electrocoagulation syndrome (PEECS) was one of the postoperative adverse events. The aim of this research was to develop and validate a model to predict electrocoagulation syndrome after endoscopic submucosal dissection of esophageal tumors., Materials and Methods: Patients who underwent esophageal ESD in our hospital were retrospectively included. A predictive nomogram was established based on the results of multivariate logistic regression analysis, and bootstrapping resampling was used for internal validation. Besides, the clinical usefulness of the nomogram was evaluated using decision curve analysis (DCA) and clinical impact curve., Results: A total of 552 patients who underwent esophageal ESD were included in the study, and the incidence of PPECS was 12.5% (69/552). Risk factors associated with PEECS (p < 0.1) were analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis, and the final model included four variables, namely gender, diabetes, tumor size and operation time. The predictive nomogram was constructed based on the above four variables, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.811 (95% CI 0.767-0.855). The calibration curve of the nomogram presented good agreement between the predicted and actual probabilities. DCA showed that the model improved patient outcomes by helping to assess the risk of PEECS in patients compared to an all-or-no treatment strategy. In addition, the clinical impact curve of the model also indicates that the nomogram has a high clinical net benefit., Conclusion: In conclusion, we have developed a predictive nomogram for PEECS after ESD for esophageal tumors with good predictive accuracy and discrimination. Objective: To systematically analyze the accuracy of ultrasonic techniques in assessing the nature of gastric contents and their volume., Methods: English-language articles that used ultrasonic techniques to assess the nature of gastric contents and their volume in patients were selected. In eligible studies, data were recalculated and analyzed for forest plots and subject summary curves of operating characteristics (SROC). Study quality was assessed using the diagnostic accuracy study quality assessment tool QUADAS-2. Publication bias was tested using funnel plots., Results: Nine articles with a total of 523 study subjects were identified for this review. All studies were feasibility studies. The sensitivity of ultrasound assessment of gastric contents ranged from 53 to 100% and the specificity from 48 to 99%. The combined analysis yielded an area under the working characteristic curve for subjects of 97% (95% confidence interval (CI), 95-98%), a sensitivity of 95% (95% CI, 84-99%), and a specificity of 88% (95% CI, 72-95%). There was a high degree of heterogeneity among the studies due to inter-operator differences and small sample sizes., Conclusion: Ultrasound techniques have high diagnostic accuracy in assessing the nature of gastric contents and their volume in patients. However, most of the studies were feasibility studies with small sample sizes, lacked standardization, and had high risk of bias. Key Message: Ten stable loci for freezing tolerance (FT) in wheat were detected by genome-wide association analysis. The putative candidate gene TaRPM1-7BL underlying the major locus QFT.ahau-7B.2 was identified and validated. Frost damage restricts wheat growth, development, and geographical distribution. However, the genetic mechanism of freezing tolerance (FT) remains unclear. Here, we evaluated FT phenotypes of 245 wheat varieties and lines, and genotyped them using a Wheat 90 K array. The association analysis showed that ten stable loci were significantly associated with FT (P < 1 × 10 -4 ), and explained 6.45-26.33% of the phenotypic variation. In particular, the major locus QFT.ahau-7B.2 was consistently related to all nine sets of FT phenotypic data. Based on five cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) markers closely linked to QFT.ahau-7B.2, we narrowed down the target region to the 570.67-571.16 Mb interval (0.49 Mb) on chromosome 7B, in which four candidate genes were annotated. Of these, only TaRPM1-7BL exhibited consistent differential expression after low temperature treatment between freezing-tolerant and freezing-sensitive varieties. The results of cloning and whole-exome capture sequencing indicated that there were two main haplotypes for TaRPM1-7BL, including freezing-tolerant Hap1 and freezing-sensitive Hap2. Based on the representative SNP (+1956, A/G), leading to an amino acid change in the NBS domain, a CAPS marker (CAPS-TaRPM1-7BL) was developed and validated in 431 wheat varieties (including the above 245 materials) and 318 F 2 lines derived from the cross of 'Annong 9267' (freezing-tolerant) × 'Yumai 9' (freezing-sensitive). Subsequently, the TaRPM1-7BL gene was silenced in 'Yumai 9' by virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS), and these silenced wheat seedlings exhibited enhanced FT phenotypes, suggesting that TaRPM1-7BL negatively regulates FT. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Tripartite-motif 3 (TRIM3) is known to play a crucial role in tumor suppression in various tumors through different mechanisms. However, its function and mechanism in ovarian cancer have yet to be elucidated. Our study aims to investigate the expression of TRIM3 in ovarian cancer and evaluate its role in the development of the disease. Our findings revealed a significant decrease in TRIM3 mRNA and protein levels in ovarian cancer tissues and cells when compared to normal ovarian epithelial tissues and cells. Furthermore, we observed a negative correlation between the protein level of TRIM3 and the FIGO stage, as well as a positive correlation with the survival of ovarian cancer patients. Using gain and loss of function experiments, we demonstrated that TRIM3 can inhibit cell proliferation, migration and invasion of the ovarian cancer cells in vitro, as well as suppress tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistic studies showed that TRIM3 interacts with lactate dehydrogenase A, a key enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, through its B-box and coiled-coil domains and induces its ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, leading to the inhibition of glycolytic ability in ovarian cancer cells. RNA-sequencing analysis revealed significant alterations in the phosphatidylinositol signaling pathways upon TRIM3 overexpression. Additionally, overexpression of TRIM3 inhibited the phosphorylation of AKT. In conclusion, our study demonstrated that TRIM3 exerts a tumor-suppressive effect in ovarian cancer, at least partially, by downregulating LDHA and inhibiting the AKT signaling pathway, and thus leading to the inhibition of glycolysis and limiting the growth of ovarian cancer cells., (© 2024. Zhejiang Province is one of the top five major provinces producing traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) and is famous for Zhebawei (in Chinese), the eight popular geo-authentic TCMs including Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, Radix Paeoniae Alba, Thunberg Fritillary Bulb, Chrysanthemum morifolium, Corydalis yanhusuo W. T. Wang, Scrophulariae Radix, Ophiopogonis Radix, and Curcuma Wenyujin Y. H. Chen et C. Ling. High proportion application and residue of pesticides directly affect the quality and yield of TCMs. In this study, pesticides residual levels in crude and processing samples were assessed along with their health risks in Zhebawei primarily produced in Zhejiang Province. In total, the exceeded ratios of pesticides residual concentrations in above mentioned eight species were 15/23, 4/7, 26/70, 22/44, 10/19, 8/12, 7/15, and 0/2, respectively. No acute dietary intake health risks were found but the long-term risks from permethrin in S. Radix should be carefully considered, with all quotient values being higher than 2.1 for all groups between 7 and 70 years. Furthermore, the risks of total benzene hexachloride in T. Fritillary Bulb and carbendazim in C. morifolium should be closely monitored. Introduction: This study aimed to investigate the association between atrial fibrillation (AF), particularly newly diagnosed AF, and remote intracerebral hemorrhage (rICH) in patients with ischemic stroke who were treated with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT)., Methods: This observational study was conducted on patients with ischemic stroke who received IVT with recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator. The data were taken from a multicenter prospective registry of a Chinese population. rICH was defined as any extraischemic hemorrhage detected on computerized tomography (CT) 24 h after intravenous thrombolysis. We collected and compared the demographic data and clinical characteristics of all the patients with rICH to those of patients without any type of hemorrhagic transformation. The association between AF and rICH was analyzed using univariate analysis and binary logistic regression., Results: A total of 20,697 patients were included in the study, with 1566 (7.6%) experiencing intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), 586 (2.8%) experiencing rICH, and 19,131 (92.4%) not experiencing any form of hemorrhagic transformation. Univariate analysis revealed significant differences in age, pre-thrombolysis systolic blood pressure, baseline National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score, previously known AF, newly diagnosed AF, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, hyperhomocysteinemia, and history of thrombolysis between the rICH and control groups (P < 0.05). Further multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that total AF (OR 1.821, 95% CI 1.082-3.065, P < 0.05), previously known AF (OR 1.470, 95% CI 1.170-1.847), and newly diagnosed AF (OR 1.920, 95% CI 1.304-2.825) were independently associated with rICH., Conclusions: This study suggests that AF, regardless of whether it is newly diagnosed or previously known, may be associated with the occurrence of rICH following intravenous thrombolysis. Rapid, simple and sensitive screening of foodborne pathogens is of great significance to ensure food safety. In this study, an aptamer-functionalized polydiacetylene (Apta-PDA) biosensor was developed for the detection of E. coli O157:H7, S. typhimurium or V. parahaemolyticus. First, aptamers responding to the target bacteria were modified on the surface of magnetic beads by covalent binding to form MBs-oligonucleotide conjugates for bacterial enrichment. Then, an Apta-PDA biosensor was obtained by connecting the aptamers to the PDA nanovesicles using the carbodiimide method. Molecular recognition occurred in the presence of the target bacteria, whereby the aptamer folded into a sequence-defined unique structure, resulting in an MBs-Apta/bacteria/Apta-PDA sandwich structure. Due to the optical properties of PDA, the blue-red transition of the detection system could be observed by the naked eye and quantified by the colorimetric response percentage (CR%). Under optimized conditions, the detection limits of E. coli O157:H7, S. typhimurium and V. parahaemolyticus were 39, 60 and 60 CFU/ml, respectively, with a selectivity of 100% and a reaction time of 30 min. Compared with the gold standard method, the accuracy of the three target bacteria detection reached 98%, 97.5% and 97%, respectively, and the sensitivity and specificity were both greater than 90%. The entire detection process was rapid and easy to execute without any special equipment, making this technology particularly suitable for resource-poor laboratories or regions., (© 2023. The newly discovered LINC02532 is abnormally expressed in a variety of cancers and promotes cancer progression. The research proposed to discover the biological and molecular mechanisms of LINC02532 in breast cancer (BCa). In the resected BCa tissue samples and adjacent normal tissues, LINC02532, miR-541-3p, and High Mobility Group A1 (HMGA1) levels were determined. Cell function experiments were carried out on the premise of cell transfection with relevant plasmids. Based on that, the influence of LINC02532, miR-541-3p, and HMGA1 on MCF-7 cell activities (proliferation, migration, invasion, cell cycle, and apoptosis) was determined, as well as on EMT. Additionally, animal experiments were allowed to support cell experimental conclusions on LINC02532. Finally, the mechanistic network of LINC02532, miR-541-3p, and HMGA1 was identified. It was BCa tissues highly expressing LINC02532 and HMGA1, while lowly expressing miR-541-3p. Functionally, LINC02532 depletion repressed the activities and EMT process of MCF-7 cells. Silencing LINC02532 delayed tumor growth in mice. In terms of mechanism, LINC02532 mainly existed in the cytoplasm and could mediate HMGA1 expression by absorbing miR-541-3p. Nanocarrier-assisted pulmonary drug delivery system has been widely employed for lung local disease treatment due to its enhanced drug lesion accumulation and reduced systematical side effects. However, the mucus barriers covered on the epithelia of trachea and bronchial tree construct a dense barrier for inhaled nanocarrier transport, which compromises the therapeutical effects. In this study, a lipid liquid crystalline nanoparticle NLP@Z with surface zwitterion material hexadecyl betaine (HB) modification and N-acetylcysteine (NAC) encapsulation was presented to exert the combination strategy of mucus-inert surface and mucus degradation. The HB modification endowed NLP@Z mucus-inert surface to inhibit the interaction between NLP@Z and mucins, and the encapsulated NAC could effectively degrade the mucins and further decrease the mucus viscosity. This combination strategy was proved to significantly promote the mucus penetration performance and enhance epithelial cell uptake. In addition, the proposed NLP@Z was equipped with desired nebulization property, which could be served as a potential pulmonary delivery nanoplatform. In summary, the proposed NLP@Z highlights the employment of the combination strategy for mucus penetration enhancement in pulmonary delivery, which may become a versatile platform for lung disease therapy., (© 2023. A novel Novosphingobium species, designated strain B2638 T , was isolated from mangrove sediments which was collected from Beibu Gulf, Beihai, P. R. China. The isolate could grow in the presence of chlorpyrifos. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that the isolate belonged to the genus Novosphingobium, showing 99.9% sequence similarity with N. decloroationis 502str22 T and less than 98% similarity with other type strain of species of this genus. Molecular typing by BOX-PCR divided strain B2638 T and N. declorationis 502str22 T into two clusters and indicated that they were not identical. Genomic comparison referenced by values of the DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) and the average nucleotide identity (ANI) between strain B2638 T and its close phylogenetic neighbors were 20.0-29.5% and 75.3-85.3%, respectively, that were lower than proposed thresholds for bacterial species delineation. The major fatty acids (> 10%) were identified as C 18:1 ω7c, C 17:1 iso ω9c and C 16:0 . The main polar lipids contained diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidyl glycerol, unidentified lipid and unidentified aminolipid. Results from phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic analyses proposed that strain B2638 T (= MCCC 1K07406 T  = KCTC 72968  T ) is represented a novel species in the genus Novosphingobium, for which the names Novosphingobium beihaiensis sp. nov. is proposed., (© 2023. Pt-V bimetallic catalysts maybe promising substitutes to precious metal catalysts for selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) of NH 3 . But it remains a major challenge for Pt-V bimetallic catalysts to pursue high NH 3 conversion rate and N 2 selectivity simultaneously. In this work, both Cu and Er were adopted to modify V 0.5 /Pt 0.04 /TiO 2 catalyst (denoted as V/PT), and the influences of Cu and Er doping amounts on NH 3 -SCO performance of V/PT catalysts were investigated systematically. The results indicated that the co-modification of Cu and Er imposed little influence on NH 3 conversion efficiency, but significantly boosted N 2 selectivity. Compared with other Cu-Er-modified V/PT catalysts, CEV/PT-4 catalyst exhibited outstanding NH 3 -SCO performance, which attained completely 100% NH 3 conversion efficiency and > 90% N 2 selectivity in the temperature range of 225-450 °C. It was significantly superior to the NH 3 -SCO performance of most previously reported catalysts. The characterization results indicated that the adequate doping amounts of Cu and Er resulted in an obvious enhancement on redox property and surface acidity of CEV/PT-4 catalyst. It also led to abundant Pt 0 and surface chemisorbed oxygen species on catalyst surface, which facilitated the oxidation of NH 3 to NO x and enhanced i-SCR reactions. The tumor microenvironment (TME) and its complex role in cancer progression have been hotspots of cancer research in recent years. Ascites, which occurs frequently in patients with ovarian cancer especially in advanced stages, represents a unique TME. Malignant ascites contains abundant cellular and acellular components that play important roles in tumorigenesis, growth, metastasis, and chemoresistance of ovarian cancer through complex molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways. As a valuable liquid biopsy sample, ascites fluid is also of great significance for the prognostic analysis of ovarian cancer. The components of ovarian cancer ascites are generally considered to comprise tumor-promoting factors; however, in recent years studies have found that ascites also contains tumor-suppressing factors, raising new perspectives on interactions between ascites and tumors. Malignant ascites directly constitutes the ovarian cancer microenvironment, therefore, the study of its components will aid in the development of new therapeutic strategies. Learning how multicellular organs are developed from single cells to different cell types is a fundamental problem in biology. With the high-throughput scRNA-seq technology, computational methods have been developed to reveal the temporal dynamics of single cells from transcriptomic data, from phenomena on cell trajectories to the underlying mechanism that formed the trajectory. There are several distinct families of computational methods including Trajectory Inference (TI), Lineage Tracing (LT), and Gene Regulatory Network (GRN) Inference which are involved in such studies. This review summarizes these computational approaches which use scRNA-seq data to study cell differentiation and cell fate specification as well as the advantages and limitations of different methods. Purpose: Many studies have reported declines in semen quality mainly focused on total sperm counts (TSC) and sperm concentration (SC), ignoring the importance of progressive motile sperm (PR), total motile sperm (TM), and normal morphological sperm (NM). Therefore, we performed a comprehensive meta-analysis to explore the trend in semen quality of young men., Methods: We searched 3 English databases and 4 Chinese databases from January 1980 to August 2022. Random-effect meta-analyses and weighted linear regression models were conducted to perform the trend in semen quality., Results: Finally, 162 eligible studies including 264,665 men from 28 countries were got between 1978 and 2021. Significant decreases were observed in TSC (- 3.06 million/year, 95% CI - 3.28 to - 2.84), SC (- 0.47 million/ml/year, 95% CI - 0.51 to - 0.43), and PR (- 0.15%/year, 95% CI - 0.20 to - 0.09), and there was an upward trend in TM (0.28%/year, 95% CI 0.24 to 0.32). The results of meta-regression analyses indicated that age, continent, income, WHO criteria, and abstinence time significantly impacted on TSC, SC, PR, and TM. Positive regression coefficients were observed in some categories suggesting that outcomes might not be declining and even increasing in these subgroups., Conclusions: Downward trends in semen quality among global young men were observed in our study, including TSC, SC, and PR. But TM did not appear to be trending down or even to be leveling off. More studies are needed to focus on the causes of the declines., (© 2023. Over the past few decades, rapid or unplanned urbanization has been a major problem for developing countries, affecting the environment very badly. Pakistan is also the fifth most vulnerable country in terms of environmental impact from socio-economic activities. Mostly, this type of research has been conducted across countries. So, this study intends to analyze the role of urbanization in energy consumption, economic growth, trade, and technology in carbon emissions by evaluating data from 1985 to 2021 in the context of Pakistan. Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) and non-linear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) with Granger causality assessment are employed to experimentally examine the variables' short and long-term associations. The ARDL result demonstrates that carbon dioxide (LCO 2 ) emissions are increased by energy consumption (LEC) and technology (LTech), while they are decreased by economic growth (LEG) and trade (LT). In NARDL, rising and falling urbanization (LU) lead to increased carbon emissions, but insignificantly. Ascending LEC leads to increased emissions, whereas descending LEC leads to reduced emissions in the context of short and long-term asymmetry. Yet, the opposite is true in the case of trade: a rise in LT decreases emissions significantly, whereas a fall in LT increases emissions insignificantly. This paper highlights the importance of international trade for a country facing these challenges. This means that LT is at the forefront of emission-reducing technology. A Granger causality analysis results show that LU and LTech are two critical determinants of LCO 2 emissions. Diagnostic tests ensure the model's reliability, ensuring that it could potentially be used without adverse intent. The research concludes that in order to minimize carbon dioxide emissions, the government should encourage the adoption of low-carbon technology through international trade (the exchange or import of low-carbon products) and implement policies tailored to urbanization and energy demand., (© 2023. The molecular mechanisms controlling the transition from meiotic arrest to meiotic resumption in mammalian oocytes have not been fully elucidated. Single-cell omics technology provides a new opportunity to decipher the early molecular events of oocyte growth in mammals. Here we focused on analyzing oocytes that were collected from antral follicles in different diameters of porcine pubertal ovaries, and used single-cell M&T-seq technology to analyze the nuclear DNA methylome and cytoplasmic transcriptome in parallel for 62 oocytes. 10× Genomics single-cell transcriptomic analyses were also performed to explore the bi-directional cell-cell communications within antral follicles. A new pipeline, methyConcerto, was developed to specifically and comprehensively characterize the methylation profile and allele-specific methylation events for a single-cell methylome. We characterized the gene expressions and DNA methylations of individual oocyte in porcine antral follicle, and both active and inactive gene's bodies displayed high methylation levels, thereby enabled defining two distinct types of oocytes. Although the methylation levels of Type II were higher than that of Type I, Type II contained nearly two times more of cytoplasmic transcripts than Type I. Moreover, the imprinting methylation patterns of Type II were more dramatically divergent than Type I, and the gene expressions and DNA methylations of Type II were more similar with that of MII oocytes. The crosstalk between granulosa cells and Type II oocytes was active, and these observations revealed that Type II was more poised for maturation. We further confirmed Insulin Receptor Substrate-1 in insulin signaling pathway is a key regulator on maturation by in vitro maturation experiments. Our study provides new insights into the regulatory mechanisms between meiotic arrest and meiotic resumption in mammalian oocytes. Objective: We aimed to assess the association between meditation practice and cognitive function over time among middle-aged and older adults., Method: We included Health and Retirement Study (HRS) participants assessed for meditation practice in the year 2000 as part of the HRS alternative medicine module ( n = 1,160) and were followed up for outcomes over 2000-2016 period. We examined the association between meditation ≥ twice a week vs none/less frequent practice and changes in the outcomes of recall, global cognitive function, and quantitative reasoning using generalized linear regression models. Stratified analyses among persons with/without self-reported baseline depressive symptoms were conducted to assess the link between meditation and cognitive outcomes., Results: Among our full study sample, meditation ≥ twice a week was not significantly associated with total recall [ β ; 95% CI: -0.97, 0.57; p = 0.61], global cognitive function [ β ; 95% CI: -1.01, 1.12; p = 0.92], and quantitative reasoning [ β ; 95% CI: -31.27, 8.32; p = 0.26]. However, among those who did not have self-reported depressive symptoms at baseline, meditation ≥ twice a week was associated with improvement in cognitive outcomes such as total recall [ β ; 95% CI: 0.03, 0.18; p = 0.01] and global cognitive function [ β ; 95% CI: 0.05, 0.40; p = 0.01] over time., Conclusions: Frequent meditation practice might have a protective effect on cognitive outcomes over time, but this protection could be limited to those without self-reported baseline depressive symptoms. Extrachromosomal circular DNAs (eccDNAs) carrying random genomic segments are broadly found across different cancer types, but their molecular functions and impact in gastric cancer (GC) are rarely known. In this study, we aimed to investigate the potential role of eccDNA in GC. Using the Circle-seq strategy, we observed the eccDNA abundance in gastric cancer tissues (GCT) was aberrantly higher than that of normal adjacent tissues (NAT). The high abundance of eccDNAs carrying oncogene-segments in GCT may represent the DNA damage products of amplified oncogenes. Analysis of GCT over-represented eccDNA carrying enhancer (eccEnhancer) based on data from FANTOM5 project combined with TCGA database suggested the GC over-represented eccEnhancers may contribute to development of GC. GC over-represented eccDNAs carrying pre-miRNA (eccMIR) were enriched to multiple cancer-relevant signal pathways by KEGG analysis. We then synthesized the top six GC over-represented eccMIRs and found four of them enabled high expression of miRNAs and down-regulation of miRNA-target genes in MGC803 cells. Furthermore, we observed the inheritance of GC over-represented eccMIRs benefited host cell proliferation and promoted the aggressive features of host cells. Altogether, this study revealed the GC over-represented eccDNAs carrying functional genomic segments were related to the carcinogenesis of GC and presented the capability to facilitate cancer progression, suggesting the cancerous eccDNAs may serve as a dynamic reservoir for genome plasticity and rapid adaptive evolution of cancer. We examined psychiatric comorbidities moderation of a 2-site double-blind randomized clinical trial of theta/beta-ratio (TBR) neurofeedback (NF) for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Seven-to-ten-year-olds with ADHD received either NF (n = 84) or Control (n = 58) for 38 treatments. Outcome was change in parent-/teacher-rated inattention from baseline to end-of-treatment (acute effect), and 13-month-follow-up. Seventy percent had at least one comorbidity: oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) (50%), specific phobias (27%), generalized anxiety (23%), separation anxiety (16%). Comorbidities were grouped into anxiety alone (20%), ODD alone (23%), neither (30%), or both (27%). Comorbidity (p = 0.043) moderated acute effect; those with anxiety-alone responded better to Control than to TBR NF (d = - 0.79, CI - 1.55- - 0.04), and the other groups showed a slightly better response to TBR NF than to Control (d = 0.22 ~ 0.31, CI - 0.3-0.98). At 13-months, ODD-alone group responded better to NF than Control (d = 0.74, CI 0.05-1.43). This study explores how EEG connectivity measures in children with ADHD ages 7-10 (n = 140) differ from an age-matched nonclinical database. We differentiated connectivity in networks, Brodmann area pairs, and frequencies. Subjects were in the International Collaborative ADHD Neurofeedback study, which explored neurofeedback for ADHD. Inclusion criteria were mainly rigorously diagnosed ADHD and a theta/beta power ratio (TBR) ≤ 4.5. Using statistical and machine learning algorithms, connectivity values were extracted in coherence, phase, and lag coherence at all Brodmann, subcortical, and cerebellar areas within the main networks in all EEG frequencies and then compared with a normative database. There is a higher rate of dysregulation (more than ± 1.97SD), in some cases as much as 75%, of the Brodmann pairs observed in coherence and phase between BAs 7, 10, and 11 with secondary connections from these areas to BAs 21, 30, 35, 37, 39, and 40 in the ADHD children as compared to the normative database. Left and right Brodmann areas 10 and 11 are highly disconnected to each other. The regeneration capacity after an injury is critical to the survival of living organisms. In animals, regeneration ability can be classified into five primary types: cellular, tissue, organ, structure, and whole-body regeneration. Multiple organelles and signaling pathways are involved in the processes of initiation, progression, and completion of regeneration. Mitochondria, as intracellular signaling platforms of pleiotropic functions in animals, have recently gained attention in animal regeneration. However, most studies to date have focused on cellular and tissue regeneration. A mechanistic understanding of the mitochondrial role in large-scale regeneration is unclear. Here, we reviewed findings related to mitochondrial involvement in animal regeneration. We outlined the evidence of mitochondrial dynamics across different animal models. Moreover, we emphasized the impact of defects and perturbation in mitochondria resulting in regeneration failure. Ultimately, we discussed the regulation of aging by mitochondria in animal regeneration and recommended this for future study. Introduction: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is currently the most malignant subtype of breast cancer without effective targeted therapies. DNAJB4 (Dnaj heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member B4) is a member of the human heat shock protein family (Hsp40). The clinical significance of DNAJB4 in breast cancer has been reported in our previous study. However, the biological function of DNAJB4 in TNBC cell apoptosis remains unclear to date., Methods: The expression of DNAJB4 in normal breast cells, breast cancer cells, four-paired TNBC tissues, and adjacent noncancerous tissues was quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blot assay. The role of DNAJB4 in TNBC cell apoptosis was investigated using a number of gain- and loss-of-function in vitro and in vivo assays. The underlying molecular mechanisms in TNBC cell apoptosis were elucidated via Western blot assay., Results: DNAJB4 expression was significantly downregulated in TNBC tissues and cell lines. DNAJB4 knockdown inhibited TNBC cell apoptosis and promoted tumorigenicity in vitro and in vivo, but DNAJB4 overexpression resulted in the opposite. Mechanically, DNAJB4 knockdown inhibited TNBC cell apoptosis through suppression of the Hippo signaling pathway, and the result was reversed after DNAJB4 overexpression., Conclusions: DNAJB4 promotes TNBC cell apoptosis by activating the Hippo signaling pathway. Owing to high mortality rate, ovarian cancer seriously threatens women's health. Extensive abdominal metastasis and chemoresistance are the leading causes of ovarian cancer deaths. Through lncRNA sequencing, our previous study identified lncRNA SLC25A21-AS1, which was significantly downregulated in chemoresistant ovarian cancer cells. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the role and mechanism of SLC25A21-AS1 in ovarian cancer. The expression of SLC25A21-AS1 was analyzed by qRT-PCR and online database GEPIA. The biological functions of SLC25A21-AS1 and KCNK4 were analyzed by CCK-8, transwell, and flow cytometry. The specific mechanism was analyzed by RNA-sequencing, RNA binding protein immunoprecipitation, rescue experiments, and bioinformatic analysis. SLC25A21-AS1 was decreased in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of SLC25A21-AS1 enhanced the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cells to paclitaxel and cisplatin, and inhibited cell proliferation, invasion, and migration, while SLC25A21-AS1-silencing showed the opposite effect. Potassium channel subfamily K member 4 (KCNK4) was significantly up-regulated upon enforced expression of SLC25A21-AS1. Overexpression of KCNK4 inhibited cell proliferation, invasion, migration ability, and enhanced the sensitivity of ovarian cancer cells to paclitaxel and cisplatin. Meanwhile, KNCK4-overexpression rescued the promotive effect of SLC25A21-AS1-silencing on cell proliferation, invasion and migration. In addition, SLC25A21-AS1 could interact with the transcription factor Enhancer of Zeste Homolog 2 (EZH2), while EZH2 knockdown increased the expression of KCNK4 in some of the ovarian cancer cell lines. The environmental fate and toxic effects of antibiotics such as tetracycline (TC) could be influenced by the ubiquitous dissolved organic matter (DOM). However, DOM from different origins has different hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. It is still unknown the effects of hydrophilic and hydrophobic DOM on the toxic effect of TC. In this study, DOM with hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity was separated and used to investigate their roles in affecting TC toxicity to the photosynthesis of green algae Chlorella vulgaris. Results showed that 10 mg L -1 TC inhibited the efficiency of photosystem II (PSII) of C. vulgaris using light by hindering electron transfer from Q A - to Q B /Q B - , and the O 2 release rate of C. vulgaris decreased by a third after 12-h treatment of 10 mg L -1 TC, while both hydrophilic and hydrophobic DOM (20 mg L -1 TOC) alleviated TC toxicity to the photosynthesis of C. vulgaris. In the presence of hydrophilic or hydrophobic DOM, stable complex of TC-hydrophilic DOM or TC-hydrophobic DOM was formed immediately, due to the good affinity of both DOM for TC. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy result showed that both hydrophilic and hydrophobic DOM could reduce C=O in TC to C-O, and isothermal titration calorimetry result suggested that reactions of both DOM with TC were exothermic (△H < 0) and spontaneous (△G < 0). Thereinto, the reaction constant (K a ) of TC reacting with hydrophobic DOM (K a =9.70) was higher than that with hydrophilic DOM (K a =8.93), indicating hydrophobic DOM with more chemical binding sites and accessible fractions for TC. Agricultural wastes are inexpensive materials for soil remediation. However, the direct water extracts from these wastes showed low efficiency for Pb removal, thus limiting their application. In this study, citrus pericarp (CP) and pineapple peel (PP), as the common agricultural wastes, were inoculated with lactic acid bacteria to produce fermentation liquors (FCP and FPP) for improving Pb removal efficiency. Results showed that the Pb removal rates by FCP and FPP reached 37.3 and 43.6%, and increased by almost 50.0% than those by CP and PP. The ecological risk of Pb reduced by 83.0-88.2% after five times continuous washing with FCP and FPP, and the Pb concentrations conformed to soil remediation standard of China. Moreover, soil organic carbon 1.5 times increased in the washed soils, while total potassium improved by 40.7-68.0%. The mechanisms of Pb removal by these wastes involved in adsorption-desorption of Pb 2+ , complexation with organic ligands, and co-precipitation of Pb complexes. The increase of low molecular organic acids during the fermentation promoted dissolution of Pb and provided more hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amine groups to interact with Pb 2+ , thus improving its removal rate. Therefore, fermentation liquid from fruit wastes is a novel, effective, and ecofriendly bio-washing eluent for Pb removal from contaminated soils., (© 2022. To explore the role of autophagy-related differential long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in the pathogenesis of melanoma, we established a prognostic prediction model for patients with melanoma based on the expression profiles of autophagy-related gene. Based on The Cancer Genome Atlas and GeneCard database, we used single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), uniCOX in R software for COX proportional hazard regression analysis, and enrichment analysis to get an idea of biological processes with autophagy-related genes, which evaluates the relationship between autophagy-related genes and immune cell infiltration in patients with melanoma. The roles of identified lncRNA were evaluated by the risk score based on the results of single factor regression analysis for each lncRNA and on the prognosis for patients obtained from the database. Then, the whole sample was divided into high- and low-risk groups. Survival curve analysis showed that low-risk group had a better prognosis. Enrichment analysis revealed multiple key pathways enriched with lncRNA-associated genes. Analysis of immune cell infiltration revealed differences between high- and low-risk groups. Finally, 3 datasets verified the effect of our model on prognosis. There are important autophagy-related lncRNA in patients with melanoma. Top 6 lncRNA are significantly related to the overall survival rate of patients with melanoma and provide the basis for predicting the prognostic survival of patients., (© 2023.
