Though mass vaccination programs helped to reduce the severity of the ongoing pandemic, various unwanted effects were reported in Turkey and Bangladesh after taking vaccines. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the adverse effects of several vaccines in Turkey and Bangladesh and how the population of both countries prioritizes the continuation of vaccination compared to the side effects. An online survey with a pretest was conducted to gather data over the research period from July 10, 2021 to December 10, 2021. Finally, the questionnaire was shared with the mass population of Turkey and Bangladesh who have received at least one or two doses of the COVID-19 vaccines. The quality of the questionnaire was evaluated with Cronbach's alpha test. The study consisted of 1508 respondents from Bangladesh and 602 respondents from Turkey. Among the total 2110 respondents, 50.0% were male 66.8% were from the 18-30 years age range, and 77.5% reported living in the city area. Among all the respondents, 64.99% of those vaccinated in Bangladesh and 67.28% of those vaccinated in Turkey reported side effects after vaccinations. Participants receiving mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) experienced the most side effects, with many reporting pain at the injection site in both nations. Following that, fever, body pain, and headache were common in Bangladesh, whereas body pain, fatigue, and arm numbness were common in Turkey. The study found no significant adverse events reported in Turkey and Bangladesh following the first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccination. These COVID-19 vaccines showed similar patterns of efficacy and safety during the short period of analysis. Vaccines from different manufacturers showed a non-significant level of adverse events during this binational AEFI approach to COVID-19 vaccines. More studies are recommended on the efficacy and safety of several vaccines to discover unexpected effects., (© 2023. Although increased attempts to preserve biodiversity ecosystems have been widely publicized, bibliometric research of biodiversity loss remains limited. Using VOSviewer, we hope to provide a bibliometric assessment of global research trends on biodiversity loss from 1990 to 2021. Document type, language, publication trend, countries, institutions, Author Keywords, and Keywords Plus were all examined. This study recorded a total of 6599 publications from the Web of Science Core Collection database. According to the findings, biodiversity loss research is expected to rise dramatically in the near future. However, the role of social sciences and economics in biodiversity loss studies has received little attention. The USA made the most significant contribution in this field. Biological Conservation was the most productive journal, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America was the most influential journal in biodiversity loss literature. Eisenhauer, N was the most prolific author, and Collen, B was the most referenced. Biodiversity, biodiversity loss mechanisms, biodiversity loss drivers, conservation, and climate change have been the topic of previous research. Possible future research hotspots may include species diversity and many elements of biodiversity. Organic nature of dyes and their commercially made products are widely utilized in many industries including paper, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, photography, petroleum as well as in textile manufacturing. The textile industry being the top most consumer of a large variety of dyes during various unit processes operation generates substantial amount of wastewater; hence, nominated as "Major Polluter of Potable Water". The direct discharge of such effluents into environment poses serious threats to the functioning of biotic communities of natural ecosystems. The detection of these synthetic dyes is considered as relatively easy, however, it is extremely difficult to completely eliminate them from wastewater and freshwater ecosystems. Aromatic chemical structure seems to be the main reason behind low biodegradability of these dyes. Currently, various physiochemical and biological methods are employed for their remediation. Among them, microbial degradation has attracted greater attention due to its sustainability, high efficiency, cost effectiveness, and eco-friendly nature. Although vaccines are the most effective tool for preventing infectious disease, COVID-19 vaccination coverage among Bangladeshi mass people was facing challenges because large proportions were hesitant to accept a new vaccine. This study aims to investigate COVID-19 vaccine acceptance intention and to explore the potential factors influencing vaccine acceptance and hesitancy among the Bangladeshi people. A bilingual, self-administered anonymous questionnaire was developed and deployed and mixed-mode approaches (face-to-face and on-line survey) in data collection procedure were applied from 03rd May to 20th June, 2021. In total, 782 Bangladeshi people were participated in this study through random and snowballing sampling technique. Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression analysis was employed to explore and rationalize the study objectives. Empirical findings revealed that, 69.4% (95% CI 66.1-72.7) respondents had the hesitation to accept newly promoted vaccines. The binary analysis revealed that, "safety" and "efficacy" had highly significant ( p  <  0.01) and positive association with vaccine acceptance. "Communication" had positive and moderately significant ( p  < 0.05) association; "culture" had positive and significant ( p  <  0.1) association while "rumor" associated moderate significantly ( p  < 0.05) and negatively with COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. According to the Pearson's Chi-Square test, male had highly significant ( p  <  0.01) willingness to receive vaccines than female gender (OR = 0.501). The prevalence of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy could be minimized by providing vaccine safety, side effect and, efficacy data to the community through effective communication. South and Southeast Asia is by far the most populous region in Asia, with the greatest number of threatened species. Changes in habitat are a major contributor to biodiversity loss and are more common as a result of land-use changes. As a result, the goal of this study is to use negative binomial regression models to investigate habitat change as one of the important drivers of biodiversity loss in South and Southeast Asian countries from 2013 to 2018. According to the negative binomial estimates, the findings for the habitat change measures are quantitatively similar for the impacts of agricultural land and arable land on biodiversity threats. Agricultural and arable land both have a positive impact on biodiversity loss. We found that, contrary to our expectations, the forest area appears to have an unexpected direct influence on the number of threatened species. A higher number of threatened species is associated with rising per capita income, human population and a low level of corruption control. Finally, the empirical findings are consistent across taxonomic groups, habitat change measures and Poisson-based specifications. Some policy implications that could mitigate biodiversity loss include educating and promoting good governance among the population and increase the conservation effort to sustain green area and national forest parks in each country., (© 2022. The disastrous consequences of climate change for human life and environmental sustainability have drawn worldwide attention. Increased global warming is attributed to anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, biodiversity loss, and deforestation due to industrial output and huge consumption of fossil fuels. Financial inclusion can be acted as an adaptation or a mitigation measure for environmental degradation. This study analyzed the impact of financial inclusion on environmental degradation in OIC countries for the period 2004-2018. A novel approach, "Dynamic Common Correlated Effects (DCCE)" is used to tackle the problem of heterogeneity and cross-sectional dependence (CSD). Various GHG emissions along with deforestation and ecological footprint are used as indicators of environmental degradation. Long-run estimation confirms that financial inclusion is positively and significantly linked with CO 2 emission, CH 4 emission, and deforestation while negatively correlated with ecological footprint and N 2 O emission in overall and higher-income OIC economies. An inverted U-shaped environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) is validated when ecological footprint, CO 2 , and CH 4 are used in all panels of OIC countries. An inverted U-shaped EKC is also observed for deforestation in lower-income and overall OIC countries. In the case of N 2 O emission, however, a U-shaped EKC appears in lower-income and overall OIC countries. The present study investigates the impact of climate change on biodiversity loss using global data consisting of 115 countries. In this study, we measure biodiversity loss using data on the total number of threatened species of amphibians, birds, fishes, mammals, mollusks, plants, and reptiles. The data were compiled from the Red List published by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). For climate change variables, we have included temperature, precipitation, and the number of natural disaster occurrences. As for the control variable, we have considered governance indicator and the level of economic development. By employing ordinary least square with robust standard error and robust regression (M-estimation), our results suggest that all three climate change variables - temperature, precipitation, and the number of natural disasters occurrences - increase biodiversity loss. Higher economic development also impacted biodiversity loss positively. On the other hand, good governance such as the control of corruption, regulatory quality, and rule of law reduces biodiversity loss. Thus, practicing good governance, promoting conservation of the environment, and the control of greenhouse gasses would able to mitigate biodiversity loss., (© 2021. Aedes aegypti is an important vector of dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever and yellow fever, chikungunya, and Zika virus. The objective was to evaluate the resistance of A. aegypti exposed to insecticides with different action modes (deltamethrin, imidacloprid, and fipronil) under intense selection pressure for 10 generations in laboratory. Bioassays were conducted according to World Health Organization. Biochemical assay performed after selection with deltamethrin (Delta-SEL), fipronil (Fipro-SEL), and imidacloprid (Imida-SEL) from G 1 to G 10 was used for the assessment of detoxification enzymes (esterase (EST), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), glutathione S-transferases (GST), and acid and alkaline phosphatases (ACP and ALP)). The Fipro-SEL (G 10 ) had high resistance (77-fold), whereas Delta-SEL and Imida-SEL populations presented very high resistance with 118 and 372-fold, respectively, in comparison with unselected (UNSEL). The levels of EST, AChE, GST, ACP, and ALP enzymes amplified on application from G 1 to G 10 . The enzymes contributing in resistance development of insecticides were as follows: GST (20.7 µmol/min/mg of protein) in Delta-SEL (G 10 ), while AChE 9.71 µmol/min/mg of protein in Imida-SEL (G 10 ) and the peak ACP and ALP enzyme activities 13.32 and 12.93 µmol/min/mg of protein, respectively, in Fipro-SEL (G 10 ). The results showed that detoxification enzymes trigger insecticide resistance in A. aegypti and their suppression may aid in the resistance breakage., (© 2021. The well-established emissions-growth debate relies on the symmetric nexus between CO 2 emissions and economic growth, thereby ignoring a fundamental component of macro economy in the form of asymmetric relation. This paper considers how CO 2 emissions respond asymmetrically to changes in economic growth. While utilizing both linear and nonlinear time series approaches for an environmentally exposed country, Pakistan over the period 1971-2018, we find convincing evidence that CO 2 emissions rise more rapidly during negative shocks to economic growth than increase during economic expansions. Thus, contrary to what has previously been reported, the effect is strong as holds both at short run and long run. This is partly due to the increase in informal sector as GDP declines. Our estimated results show that accounting for the shadow economy results a higher magnitude of CO 2 emissions due to decrease in economic growth, thus question the traditional symmetric decoupling of economic growth and CO 2 emissions. The estimated results are robust to alternative estimators such as fully modified least squares (FMOLS) and dynamic OLS (DOLS). Thus, the findings of this study call for a re-thinking on climate policy design that rarely pays attention to the aforementioned outcomes due to fall in economic growth.

The replication-associated (Rep) proteins of pathogenic begomoviruses, including cotton leaf curl Multan virus (CLCuMuV) and pedilanthus leaf curl virus (PeLCV), interact with the DNA replication machinery of their eukaryotic hosts. The analysis of Rep protein sequences showed that there is 13-28% sequence variation among CLCuMuV and PeLCV isolates, with phylogenetic clusters that can separated at least in part based on the country of origin of the respective viruses. To identify specific host factors involved in the virus replication cycle, we conducted yeast two-hybrid assays to detect possible interactions between the CLCuMuV and PeLCV Rep proteins and 30 protein components of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae DNA replication machinery. This showed that the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) protein of S. cerevisiae interacts with Rep proteins from both CLCuMuV and PeLCV. We used the yeast PCNA sequence in BLAST comparisons to identify two PCNA orthologs each in Gossypium hirsutum (cotton) , Arabidopsis thaliana (Arabidopsis), and Nicotiana benthamiana (tobacco). Sequence comparisons showed 38-40% identity between the yeast and plant PCNA proteins, and > 91% identity among the plant PCNA proteins, which clustered together in one phylogenetic group. The expression of the six plant PCNA proteins in the yeast two-hybrid system confirmed interactions with the CLCuMuV and PeLCV Rep proteins. Aging plays a significant role in the progression of vascular diseases and vascular dysfunction. Activation of the ADP-ribosylation factor 6 and small GTPases by inflammatory signals may cause vascular permeability and endothelial leakage. Pro-inflammatory molecules have a significant effect on smooth muscle cells (SMC). The migration and proliferation of SMC can be promoted by tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α). TNF-α can also increase oxidative stress in SMCs, which has been identified to persuade DNA damage resulting in apoptosis and cellular senescence. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) acts as a ligand-dependent transcription factor and a member of the nuclear receptor superfamily. They play key roles in a wide range of biological processes, including cell differentiation and proliferation, bone formation, cell metabolism, tissue remodeling, insulin sensitivity, and eicosanoid signaling. The PPARγ activation regulates inflammatory responses, which can exert protective effects in the vasculature. In addition, loss of function of PPARγ enhances cardiovascular events and atherosclerosis in the vascular endothelium. This appraisal, therefore, discusses the critical linkage of PPARγ in the inflammatory process and highlights a crucial defensive role for endothelial PPARγ in vascular dysfunction and disease, as well as therapy for vascular aging.

Leaf samples of Cucumis Sativus L. ( C. sativus ) (Family; Cucurbitaceae ) showing vein thickening, mild leaf curling and leaf enations were collected from the farmer's field. Amplification of the full-length viral molecules was performed through rolling circle amplification (RCA). Cloning of the full-length viral molecules was done through standard cloning procedure followed by sequencing. Sequence similarity analysis and phylogenetic studies showed that the virus associated with leaf curling and enations in C. sativus was a bipartite begomovirus, where DNA-A and DNA-B showed highest nucleotide sequence homology of 98% and 97% to tomato leaf curl Palampur virus (ToLCPMV) from India. Attempts to isolate betasatellites and alphasatellites through PCR using RCA product as template, did not result in any amplification. A maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree grouped DNA-A and B components with other isolates from India. SDT was used to find the pairwise identity scores of different sequences of ToLCPMV present in the database. Phylogenetic analysis showed that sequences of ToLCPMV DNA-A and B components in this study share high degree of homology with existing viruses and are isolates of ToLCPMV-India. Infectious molecules of both components (Accessions, MG252783 and MG252784, respectively) were constructed for infectivity analysis to fulfill the Koch's postulate. Infectivity analysis revealed that ToLCPMV DNA-A is infectious to model host plant Nicotiana benthamiana and viral accumulation was confirmed through Southern blot analysis. Accumulation of DNA-B was confirmed through PCR. Infectivity analysis was also conducted using the original host, C. sativus, but plants were unable to survive the agroinoculation. The paper examines the impacts of financial development on sectoral carbon emissions (CO 2 ) for environmental quality in Malaysia. Since the financial sector is considered as one of the sectors that will contribute to Malaysian economy to become a developed country by 2020, we utilize a cointegration method to investigate how financial development affects sectoral CO 2 emissions. The long-run results reveal that financial development increases CO 2 emissions from the transportation and oil and gas sector and reduces CO 2 emissions from manufacturing and construction sectors. However, the elasticity of financial development is not significant in explaining CO 2 emissions from the agricultural sector. The results for short-run elasticities were also consistent with the long-run results. We conclude that generally, financial development increases CO 2 emissions and reduces environmental quality in Malaysia.

Identification of cows with subclinical mastitis (SCM) is an important tool for sustainable dairying and implementing effective mastitis control strategies. A total of 892 quarters milk samples from 228 lactating cows were screened by California mastitis test (CMT), White side test (WST), Surf field mastitis test (SFMT), and somatic cell count (SCC) to study the prevalence of bovine SCM in some selected areas of Bangladesh. Out of 228 cows, 148 (64.9%), 138 (60.5%), 132 (57.9%), and 164 (71.9%) were found positive for SCM by CMT, WST, SFMT, and SCC, respectively. The prevalence of bovine SCM was diagnosed 45.7, 40.2, 36.6, and 29.6% in Chittagong, Sirajgonj, Mymensingh, and Gazipur districts, respectively, based on a combination of all tests. The overall quarter-wise prevalence of SCM was 45.7, 43.5, 41.2, and 55.0% for CMT, WST, SFMT, and SCC. Single quarters and left front quarters were more prone to SCM (P < 0.05). Friesian crossbred cows (56.4%), BCS 2.0-2.5 (55.4%), and parity 4-6 (52.4%), the late lactation stage (5-8 months; 64.7%) and high yielding cows (16-20 L/day; 65.3%) were more susceptible to SCM (P < 0.05). The sensitivity of the CMT, WST, SFMT, and SCC was 65.8, 57.9, 51.0, and 82.5%; specificity 76.2, 72.4, 69.5, and 89.4%; percentage accuracy 70.0, 64.8, 59.9, and 85.2%; positive predictive value 75.2, 69.8, 64.9, and 92.7%, respectively. The categories of CMT reactions were strongly correlated with SCC (P < 0.05). Kappa value of SCC was higher than that of other tests (SCC>CMT>WST>SFMT). Thus, CMT was concluded to be the most accurate (r = 0.782) field diagnostic test after laboratory test like SCC (r = 0.924). However, the use of any single test may not be reliable in diagnosing SCM, while the result of CMT supported by SCC might be used effectively to pinpoint diagnosis of SCM in dairy animals than alone.

Incorporation of soluble bioactive glass fibres into biodegradable polymers is an interesting approach for bone repair and regeneration. However, the glass composition and its surface properties significantly affect the nature of the fibre-matrix interface and composite properties. Herein, the effect of Si and Fe on the surface properties of calcium containing phosphate based glasses (PGs) in the system (50P(2)O(5)-40CaO-(10-x)SiO(2)-xFe(2)O(3), where x = 0, 5 and 10 mol.%) were investigated. Contact angle measurements revealed a higher surface energy, and surface polarity as well as increased hydrophilicity for Si doped PG which may account for the presence of surface hydroxyl groups. Two PG formulations, 50P(2)O(5)-40CaO-10Fe(2)O(3) (Fe10) and 50P(2)O(5)-40CaO-5Fe(2)O(3)-5SiO(2) (Fe5Si5), were melt drawn into fibres and randomly incorporated into poly(lactic acid) (PLA) produced by melt processing. The ageing in deionised water (DW), mechanical property changes in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) and cytocompatibility properties of these composites were investigated. In contrast to Fe10 and as a consequence of the higher surface energy and polarity of Fe5Si5, its incorporation into PLA led to increased inorganic/organic interaction indicated by a reduction in the carbonyl group of the matrix. PLA chain scission was confirmed by a greater reduction in its molecular weight in PLA-Fe5Si5 composites. In DW, the dissolution rate of PLA-Fe5Si5 was significantly higher than that of PLA-Fe10. Dissolution of the glass fibres resulted in the formation of channels within the matrix. Initial flexural strength was significantly increased through PGF incorporation. After PBS ageing, the reduction in mechanical properties was greater for PLA-Fe5Si5 compared to PLA-Fe10. MC3T3-E1 preosteoblasts seeded onto PG discs, PLA and PLA-PGF composites were evaluated for up to 7 days indicating that the materials were generally cytocompatible. In addition, cell alignment along the PGF orientation was observed showing cell preference towards PGF.

Over 1.3 million cases of skin cancer occur annually in the USA, but no uniform or evidence-based screening guidelines exist. During a 1-year intervention, a patient education tool was distributed to patients. Billing records were utilized to compare detection and treatment rates for cancerous and precancerous skin lesions during the intervention to a historical control. No significant change in detection rates was demonstrated (RR = 1.0, p = 0.88). However, the number of procedures performed for malignant and pre-malignant skin lesions increased significantly (RR = 2.4, p < 0.0001). The patient education tool created clinically significant behavioral change at a low monetary and time cost.

The superior performance of F1 hybrids has a significant impact on agricultural productivity. For commercial application, the availability of an efficient system for obtaining male-sterile lines of crops is an essential prerequisite. Here we have investigated the use of RNA interference (RNAi) technology to silence a male-specific gene in the model host tobacco. TA29 is expressed exclusively in anthers at the time of microspore development. About 10 out of 13 tobacco lines transformed with a hairpin RNAi construct containing TA29 sequences were male sterile. Transgenic plants were phenotypically indistinguishable from non-transgenic plants. At the anthesis stage, pollen grains from transgenic, male-sterile plants were aborted and lysed in comparison to the round and fully developed pollen in non-transgenic plants. Microscopic analysis of anthers showed selective degradation of tapetum in transgenic plants with no microspore development. One week after self-pollination, the ovules of non-transgenic plants were double the size of those in transgenic plants, due to successful self-fertilization. Male sterile transgenic plants set seed normally, when cross-pollinated with pollen from non-transgenic plants, confirming no adverse effect on the female parts of the flower. These results show that silencing of male-specific genes by RNAi is potentially a useful tool for generating male-sterile lines for producing hybrid seed.
