Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is frequently observed in adolescent women and usually progresses with depression. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of amitriptyline (Ami), a drug used in the treatment of depression, in individuals with PCOS. Forty 12-week-old female Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into five groups: control, sham, PCOS, Ami, and PCOS + Ami. To induce the syndrome in the PCOS groups, a single dose of 4 mg/kg estradiol valerate was administered by intraperitoneal injection; 10 mg/kg Ami was administered by intraperitoneal injection for 30 days in the Ami groups. After 30 days, all the animals were sacrificed and blood, ovary, and brain tissues were collected and subjected to routine tissue processing. Stereological, histopathological analyses were performed on the ovarian sections, while luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), catalase (CAT), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels were investigated in blood samples. The volume of the corpus luteum and preantral follicles increased in the PCOS group, while a decrease was determined in the number of antral follicles using stereological methods. Biochemical analysis revealed that FSH levels increased and CAT enzyme levels decreased in the PCOS group. Significant morphological changes were observed in ovaries from the PCOS group. The volume of the corpus luteum in the PCOS + Ami group decreased compared to the PCOS group. Serum FSH levels decreased in the PCOS + Ami group, while CAT enzyme levels increased compared to the PCOS group. Degenerative areas were also seen in the PCOS + Ami group ovaries. Ami administration was unable to sufficiently ameliorate the morphological and biochemical changes caused in the ovarian tissues by PCOS. In addition, this study is one of the few studies examining the effects of amitriptyline, an antidepressant frequently used in depression treatment of individuals with PCOS. We also observed firstly that use of amitriptyline caused PCOS-like ovarian morphology in healthy rat ovaries, while it had a healing effect by volume decreasing of cystic structures in the ovary with PCOS., (© 2023. Rhamnetin is a flavonoid which contained in especially clove, such as apple, tea, and onion plant. Rhamnetin has been used in cancer research due to its antitumor and antioxidant properties. In this study, effects of rhamnetin administration at different doses on ascites and solid tumors were investigated in Balb/C mice bearing EAT model that originating from rat breast adenocarcinoma. Experimental procedure: Overall, 92 Balb-c mice were used in this study. EAT cells (1 × 10 6 cells) that harvested from stock animals were injected to all rats via intraperitoneal and subcutaneous route. Rhamnetin (100 µg/kg-200 µg/kg) were given intraperitoneally and subcutaneously during 10 and 15 days to the animals bearing ascites tumor and solid tumor, respectively. Throughout experiments, weight changes were recorded in all groups. The maximum weight increase was observed in the control group among all groups (ascites and solid tumor groups). In the treatment groups, the least weight increase were determined in 200-µg/kg rhamnetin applied. The lowest increase in tumor volume was observed in the group that received 200-µg/kg rhamnetin (2.84) when compared to tumor control group (3.67). Result and conclusion: We determined that the number of live and dead cells in the treatment groups administered with the mean rhamnetin dose (2.5 µg/ml) was found in the count made in the EAT cell line after the incubation periods. We observed that rhamnetin plays an important role against cancer formation. We have obtained important results in our study, but detailed studies on the relationship between rhamnetin and cancer are needed., (© 2023. We analyzed our stone-free rates of PNL with regard to stone burden and its ratio to the renal collecting system volume. Data of 164 patients who underwent PNL were analyzed retrospectively. Volume segmentation of renal collecting system and stones were done using 3D segmentation software with the images obtained from CT data. Analyzed stone volume (ASV) and renal collecting system volume (RCSV) were measured and the ASV-to-RCSV ratio was calculated after the creation of a 3D surface volume rendering of renal stones and the collecting system. Univariate and multivariate statistical analyses were performed to determine factors affecting stone-free rates; also we assessed the predictive accuracy of the ASV-to-RCSV ratio using the receiving operating curve (ROC) and AUC. The stone-free rate of PNL monotherapy was 53% (164 procedures).The ASV-to-RCSV ratio and calyx number with stones were the most influential predictors of stone-free status (OR 4.15, 95% CI 2.24-7.24, <0.001, OR 2.62, 95% CI 1.38-4.97, p < 0.001, respectively). Other factors associated with the stone-free rate were maximum stone size (p < 0.029), stone surface area (p < 0.010), and stone burden volume (p < 0.001). Predictive accuracy of the ASV-to-RCSV ratio was AUC 0.76. Stone burden volume distribution in the renal collecting system, which is calculated using the 3D volume segmentation method, is a significant determinant of the stone-free rate before PCNL surgery. It could be used as a single guide variable by the clinician before renal stone surgery to predict extra requirements for stone clearance.

Purpose: The aim of this prospective, observational study was to investigate the relationship between premature ejaculation (PE) and female sexual response cycle, using the female sexual function index (FSFI). The FSFI evaluates female sexual function in six domains: desire, arousal, lubrication, orgasm, satisfaction, and pain., Methods: All men were considered to have PE if they fulfilled the criteria of the second Ad Hoc International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) Committee. All men were also assessed by the Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT) and intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT) using stopwatch which was held by the partner. All women completed the FSFI., Results: A total of 181 couples who had regular sexual intercourse with one partner for the past 6 months were enrolled the study. By the definition of ISSM Committee, there were 117 men with PE and 64 men without PE. Partners of men with PE had significantly lower total FSFI scores than did partners of men without PE (21.8 ± 3.5 for PE and 26.4 ± 3.1 for non-PE, p < 0.001). Moreover, all the domains of the FSFI scoring system were separately associated with PE. According to the mean FSFI scores, the 48.43% of women had sexual dysfunction in the non-PE group, and all women had sexual dysfunction in PE group., Conclusion: PE is associated with female sexual dysfunction and all of the female sexual dysfunction domains, as determined by FSFI scores.

A 38-year-old woman presented with a lifelong history of involuntary urinary leakage. The patient reported that she had been operated for her urinary leakage with the diagnosis of stress incontinence with transobturator tape two times at two different institutions. Preoperative computed tomography scan showed complete duplication of the left kidney with poorly functioning upper pole and a tortuous left dilated ureter running down and opening into the vagina. Laparoscopic left upper pole heminephrectomy and ureterectomy were performed uneventfully. Her incontinence improved immediately after surgery.

Estimation of prostate gland volume with transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) provides important information in the evaluation of benign and malignant prostate disease. We evaluated 119 patients with clinically benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) by TRUS. Sixty-eight of these underwent transurethral resection of the prostate (TUR-P), and 51 patients underwent open prostatectomy. In both groups the estimated weight correlated well with the removed prostatic weight (r = 0.643, p < 0.0001 in TUR-P and r = 0.729, p < 0.0001 in open prostatectomy). We found that TRUS is a valuable method for estimation of prostatic volume in patients with BPH.
