This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Cellular Automata for Research and Industry, ACRI 2012, held in Santorini Island, Greece, in September 2012. The 88 revised papers were carefully selected from numerous submissions. In order to give a perspective in which both theoretical and applicational aspects of cellular automata contribute to the growth of the area, this book mirrors the structure of the conference, grouping the 88 papers into two main parts. The first part collects papers presented as part of the main conference and organized according to six main topics: theoretical results on cellular automata; cellular automata dynamics, control and synchronization; cellular automata and networks; modeling and simulation with cellular automata; cellular automata-based hardware and architectures; codes, pseudorandom number generators and cryptography with cellular automata. We cordially welcome you to the proceedings of the 2006 International Symposium on Ubiquitous Computing Systems (UCS) held in Seoul, Korea. UCS has been a symposium for dissemination of state-of-the-art research and engineering practices in ubiquitous computing with particular emphasis on systems and software. 2006 UCS was the third of this series of international symposia, and its importance is increasing as information technology industries are recognizing ubiquitous systems to be one of their top priorities. This year the symposium was organized by u-Korea Forum, Su- kyunkwan University, The Electronic Times, and UCN, Korea. It was also sponsored by the Korea Ministry of Information and Communication, KISS, KIPS, KICS, NCA from Korea and IPSJ SIGUBI, IEICE URON, and UNF from Japan. This year we attracted 359 high-quality paper submissions from all over the world. Among them, 41 papers representing 11 countries were selected to be included in the technical program. This very low acceptance rate of about 11% clearly demonstrates the high quality of the conference, and this tradition will continue in the upcoming years. Three distinguished speakers were also invited for keynote speeches, who enlightened the audience on ubiquitous computing theory and application.

ICAT is the oldest international conference on virtual reality and tele-existence. ICAT 2006 not only looked for innovations in the technology itself, but also explored novel ways to transfer and express information and creative ideas to the society and people. The 16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence was held at the Zhejiang University of Technology, Hangzhou, P. R. China from November 29 to December 1, 2006. The main purpose of the conference is to provide opportunities for researchers and practitioners to present their research findings and exchange opinions on the development and use of such systems. The conference included plenary invited talks, workshops, tutorials, and paper presentation tracks. The main conference received 523 submissions in total from 21 different countries, including China (mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan), USA, UK, Germany, Austria, France, Australia, Canada, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, etc., of which 138 papers were accepted for this volume and 11 papers were invited to submit extended versions for a special issue of International Journal of Virtual Reality (IJVR, 5(4)).
