There is a lack of attention among social science researchers to transportation policy. There are two topics that are discussed in the issue; policy problems at the local, national and supranational level and the policy making process and implementation. Policy design is important because transport policy has to accommodate and influence individual and societal behavior. The opportunities and threats from innovation are also discussed.
