The article discusses the results of a study published in the January 2012 issue of periodical "Geophysical Research Letters," by geophysicist Jacopo Taddeucci and colleagues about the use of high-speed cameras to record volcanic activity in order to measure rock and gas blasts. Topics include how volcanologists recreated eruptions in the laboratory and how measurements were taken of eruptions at Mount Stromboli in Italy.
