Ahmedî is one of the poets and authors who lived in 16th century Beylics Period. His real name differs in sources. Based on Taceddin İbrahim bin Hızır, some sources state that his name is İbrahim, his nickname is Taceddin and his father's name is Hızır. Despite the struggle between the beylics in 14th and 15th centuries, the poets and the artists were patronised. Ahmedî is one of the poets who were patronised as well. It is also mentioned in sources that following his primary education, Ahmedî went to Egypt and furthered his education there. In addition to this, sources also state that leaving Egypt, Ahmedî initiated to Germiyan Bey Suleyman Shah and they were close friends. For this, it can be said that he presented most of his works to Emir Suleyman. He presented İskendernâme, by making additions to it and the mesnevis names Cemşîd ü Hurşîd ile Tervihü'l-Ervâh later on. Apart from the author's works which were presented to Emir Suleyman, he also has works named Dîvân, Esrâr-nâme Çevirisi, Mirkatü'l-Edeb. Ahmedî's language reflects the phonetic features of his age. It is believed that his works are notewrothy in observing the phonetic features of the Old Anatolian Turkish. It is necessary to approach to the works of the era with different perspectives so as to trace the historic periods of the Turkish written (literary) language. Thus we believe that in order to understand the phonetic features of the Anatolian Turkish, it will be valid to study Ahmedî's work. Above all, the importance of the continuous studies on the authors and their works both in the period of their emergence and the ones who affected the latter periods in a direct or indirect way is obvious. As Ahmedî is one of the important poets of the 14th century, there have been numerous studies on him. These studies are mostly about his life and literary career. The aim of this study is to secure a better understanding of the phonetic features of Old Anatolian Turkish. Firstly, information on Ahmedî and his works will be presented and following this, phonetic features of the period will be explained and analysed by practice on the text. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
