The differences in the reproductive biology of overwintered (OW) and F1 generation of Trissolcus semistriatus Nees and T. festivae Victorov (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) were investigated under laboratory conditions. The experiments were conducted to evaluate oviposition period, lifetime fecundity, female progeny, sex ratio, and longevity of OW and F1 generation with the two species as factors. The results of this study showed that the oviposition period of F1 generation was longer than that of OW females for both of the two parasitoid species. With the exception of F1 generation of T. festivae, the highest daily average progeny production of females was recorded on the first day. The mean lifetime fecundity of ovipositing females were calculated as 88.8 ± 6.13 and 111.9 ± 6.66 for OW and F1 generation of T. semistriatus, 85.6 ± 6.83; 104.7 ± 4.66 for OW and F1 generation of T. festivae, respectively. The sex ratios of progeny for both of the species were distinctly female-biased. The effects of species, factors (OW and F1 generation), and their interactions were significant on the sex ratio of progeny. The average longevity of OW females was 16.2 ± 1.76 days for T. semistriatus and 16.9 ± 1.21 for T. festivae. The average longevity of F1 generation females was 17.5 ± 1.46 days for T. semistriatus and 28.5 ± 1.94 for T. festivae. Thus, some several biological characteristics of both species were compared and discussed with regard to the use of OW populations for the successful implantation of biological control and mass production. The effects of temperature on the development of the egg parasitoids Trissolcus rufiventris (Mayr) and Trissolcus simoni Mayr (Hym.: Scelionidae) were determined at 3 constant temperatures. Female development ranged from 6.9 days at 32 °C to 22.5 days at 20 °C for T. rufiventris, and from 9.2 days at 32 °C to 24.7 days at 20 °C for T. simoni. The average development time of males was shorter than that of females for each parasitoid species. The development of female T. rufiventris required 125.0 degree-days above the theoretical threshold of 15.5 °C and that of males required 111.1 degree-days above 15.3 °C. The lower threshold temperature and thermal requirement of T. simony were estimated as 12.5 °C and 166.7 degree-days for females and 12.0 °C and 166.7 degree-days for males. The immature stages of T. rufiventris developed faster than those of T. simoni. It was concluded that T. rufiventris has an advantage in the biological control of Eurygaster integriceps Put. The egg batches with parasitoids of the sunn pest Eurygaster sp. (Hemiptera: Scutelleridae) were collected to determine the egg parasitoid Trissolcus species (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) of the pest from cereal areas in Turkey. In total, eight Trissolcus species, namely T. simoni Mayr, T. vassilievi Mayr, T. semistriatus Nees, T. grandis Thompson, T. manteroi Kieffer, T. pseudoturesis Rjachovsky, T. rufiventris Mayr and T. djadetshko Rjachovsky, are recognized. T. djadetshko Rjachovsky and T. manteroi Kieffer are new species for the Turkish fauna. The species are described and an identification key is provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
