TITLE IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ,SEX discrimination in education ,WOMEN college students - Abstract
The article examines why the 1972 U.S. federal law known as Title IX, which banned gender discrimination in school, continues to be controversial 40 year later. According to the author, when Title IX was signed into law by President Richard M. Nixon, women were a minority at colleges and had few opportunities to play sports in both college and high school. However, critics of the law believe that the way schools comply with it amounts to reverse discrimination.
