This article examines the adaptation of the novel "Coma," a 1978 film based on Michael Crichton's novel of the same name, in "The Case of the Wandering Uterus: Coma, The Medical Thriller, and the Woman Doctor-Detective" It aims to provide a recuperative reading of Susan's role as a doctor and a detective. It argues that the novel and film mutually deploy the discussions of 1970s liberal feminist politics in order to build a model heroine, someone who is white, educated, independent and just.
