Background: We aimed to evaluate the predictive determitants in patients with PHF who were treated with reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) by evaluating the patient characteristics and comorbidities and extensive preoperative laboratory parameters. Methods: With examining the records of elderly patients (over 65 years old) with PHF, who were admitted to our emergency department between 2009 and 2020. For evaluation of the survival, we performed Kaplan-Meirer statistical anaylses. A Cox algorithms (uni and multivariate) were applied to recognize factors (including clinical and laboratory parameters) which are associated with survival. Results: Sixty-three females and 17 males were included with a mean of 73.5 ± 7.4 years of age. Nineteen (23.83%) patients had decreased after the surgery, with a mean survival of 47.5 ± 32.7 months. There were 61 (76.3%) surviving patients with a mean survival of 67.4 ± 35.4 months. Survival rates in the first 6 months (n: 2 patients), first year (n: 3 patients), and second year (n: 6 patients) after surgery were 97.5%, 96.3%, and 92.3%, respectively. Conclusion: The age and preoperative hemoglobin level were independently related with poor survival in patients with PHF. Background: Tear completion followed by repair (TCR) and in situ repair (ISR) have been widely used for bursal-side partial-thickness rotator cuff tears (PTRCTs). Both techniques have shown favorable results; however, controversy continues in terms of the best management. Purpose: To compare the histological and biomechanical outcomes of these 2 techniques for 50% partial-thickness bursal-side rotator cuff tear repair in a rabbit model. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: A total of 27 rabbits were used in this experimental study. Seven rabbits were sacrificed at the beginning of the study to form an intact tendon control group. A chronic 50% partial-thickness bursal-side tear model was created in 20 rabbits, and 5 rabbits were sacrificed for biomechanical testing of chronic partial-thickness tears (control group) without repair. In 15 rabbits, partial-thickness tears were repaired after 8 weeks. Partial-thickness tears in the right shoulders were completed to full thickness and repaired; in contrast, left shoulders were repaired in situ. All rabbits were euthanized 8 weeks after the repair. The tendons were tested biomechanically for ultimate failure, linear stiffness, and displacement. Histological evaluations of tendon-to-bone healing were performed via the modified Watkins score. Results: Macroscopically, all repaired tendons were attached to the greater tuberosity. The TCR group had a higher failure load than the ISR group, with mean values of 140.4 ± 13.8 N and 108.1 ± 16.6 N, respectively (P =.001). The modified Watkins score was significantly higher in the TCR group (23.5; range, 22-27) than in the ISR group (19.5; range, 16-22) (P =.009). Conclusion: Both repair techniques are effective for 50% partial-thickness bursal-side rotator cuff tears; however, TCR yields significantly superior biomechanical and histological characteristics compared with ISR. Clinical Relevance: Tear completion and repair technique may increase tendon-to-bone healing and thereby reduce re-rupture rate in the partial thickness bursal side rotator cuff tears. Total hip replacement in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is a difficult technical procedure for surgeons to perform because of the potential for these patients to have severe anomalies in their bones and soft tissues.~Introduction~Background~We performed acetabuloplasty in 54 hips from 44 patients by reaming the posterior wall of the native acetabulum and medialising the acetabular component to restore the anatomic centre of hip rotation using a small cup without bone grafting. Median time to post-surgery follow-up was 5 (range 2-14) years.~Materials and Methods~Methods~Prosthetic survival rates in patients after 2 and 5 years post hip replacement were 93% (50/54) and 89% (48/54), respectively. 4 patients required early revision because of malposition and instability of the acetabular cup. 3 patients with Crowe type IV dislocations had transient sciatic nerve palsy and 3 had deep vein thrombosis.~Results~Results~Placement of the acetabular shell using posterior bone stock to provide normal hip rotation is a successful alternative technique for acetabuloplasty in patients with DDH.~Conclusions~Conclusions [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The Harris Hip Score (HHS) developed to assess function and pain from the perspective of patients hip pathologies. The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the HHS into Turkish, and thereby determine the reliability and validity of the translated version. Methods: The HHS was translated into Turkish in accordance with the stages recommended by Beaton. The measurement properties of the HHS were tested in 80 patients; 52 males, mean age 51 years (range 21-75 years) suffering from different hip pathologies. The test-retest reliability was tested in 58 patients; 28 males mean age, 52 years (range 30-73 years) after an interval of seven days. The Cronbach's Alpha was used to assess internal consistency and the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to estimate the test-retest reliability. Patients were asked to answer the Oxford Hip Score (OHS), the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC), the VAS and the Short Form-36 (SF-36) for the validity of the estimation. Results: The Turkish version of the HHS showed sufficient internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha,0.70) and test-retest reliability (ICC = 0.91). The correlation coefficients between the HHS, the WOMAC and the OHS were 0.64 and 0.89 respectively. The highest correlations between the HHS and SF-36 were with the physical function scale (r = 0.72), and the lowest correlations were with the mental function scale (r = 0.10). We observed no floor or ceiling effects. Conclustion: The Turkish version of the HHS has sufficient reliability and validity to measure patientreported outcome for Turkish-speaking individuals with a variety of hip disorders.
