Background: Labor pain is the nastiest conceivable pain women are involved in during labor and delivery. In this way, the end of labor pain is frequently outlined by myths and equivocalness. Hence, giving a compelling absence of pain in labor remained a challenge specifically in developing countries including Ethiopia. Objectives: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to explore the pooled prevalence of labor analgesia and associated factors to pregnant women in Ethiopia. Design: A systematic review and meta-analysis were utilized in agreement with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews. Data Sources: PubMed/Medline, SCOPUS, EMBASE, Web of Science, Google Scholars, and the Cochrane Library and supplemented it with manual were deliberately looked at until January 1–30, 2024. Methods: Two authors independently extricated all principal information utilizing standardized data extraction designs, and the analysis was done utilizing STATA version 17. Heterogeneity over the studies was evaluated utilizing I 2 measurement. The funnel plot and Egger's weighted regression tests were utilized to assess subjective and objective publication biases respectively. Also, the pooled effect of labor pain management and the associations were evaluated utilizing a random-effects model. Results: The general pooled prevalence of labor analgesia in the present study was 23.3% with a (95% confidence interval (CI): 13.5, 33.1). Maternal age (odds ratio (OR): 1.91; 95% CI: 1.11, 2.77), parity of the mother (OR: 0.28; 95% CI: 0.06, 0.63), history of pregnancy misfortune (OR: 0.12; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.36), length of labor (OR: 2.09; 95% CI: 1.06, 3.13), and awareness about labor analgesia (OR: 1.91; 95% CI: 0.34, 3.49) were significantly related with labor analgesia among pregnant women in Ethiopia. Conclusions: The generally pooled prevalence of labor analgesia among pregnant women in Ethiopia was low. Maternal age, parity of the mother, history of pregnancy loss, length of labor, and awareness of labor analgesia were factors influencing labor analgesia among pregnant women in Ethiopia. This finding proposes exceptional consideration to make laboring mothers free of pain by scaling up the strategies and utilizing labor pain administration in a way that universally recognized standards are met. Background: In approximately 15% of all pregnancies, a potentially fatal complication that necessitates medical attention arises, requiring a significant obstetrical intervention for the pregnant women to survive. Between 70% and 80% of maternal life-threating complication have been treated through emergency obstetric and newborn services. This study investigates women's satisfaction with emergency obstetric and newborn care services in Ethiopia and factors associated with their satisfaction. Methods: In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we searched electronic databases, such as PubMed, Google Scholar, HINARI, Scopus, and Web of Sciences for primary studies. A standardized data collection measurement tool was used to extract the data. STATA 11 statistical software was used to analyze the data, and I2 tests were used to evaluate heterogeneity. The pooled prevalence of maternal satisfaction was predicted using a random-effects model. Results: Eight studies were included. The pooled prevalence of maternal satisfaction with emergency obstetric and neonatal care services was 63.15% (95% confidence interval: 49.48–76.82). Age (odds ratio = 2.88, 95% confidence interval: 1.62–5.12), presence of birth companion (odds ratio = 2.66, 95% confidence interval: 1.34–5.29), satisfaction with health workers' attitudes (odds ratio = 4.02, 95% confidence interval: 2.91–5.55), educational status (odds ratio = 3.59, 95% confidence interval: 1.42–9.08), length of stay at health facility (odds ratio = 3.71, 95% confidence interval: 2.79–4.94), and antenatal care visits (odds ratio = 2.22, 95% confidence interval: 1.52–3.24) were associated with maternal satisfaction with emergency obstetric and neonatal care service. Conclusion: This study found a low level of overall maternal satisfaction with emergency obstetric and neonatal care services. To increase maternal satisfaction and utilization, the government should focus on improving the standards of emergency maternal, obstetric, and newborn care by identifying gaps in maternal satisfaction regarding the services provided by healthcare professionals. Background: Male involvement in family planning includes not only using contraceptives but also encouraging and supporting their partners' contraception needs and choices, encouraging peers to use family planning, and influencing policy to make male-related programs more conducive. In Ethiopia, the prevalence and associated factors of male involvement in family planning were highly inconsistent across studies. As a result, the goal of this study was to use a systematic review and meta-analysis to estimate the pooled prevalence of male involvement in family planning and its associated factors in Ethiopia. Methods: Electronic literature search using PubMed, Google Scholar, EMBASE, HINAR, Scopus, and Web of Sciences were performed without time restriction to identify the primary studies. Data were extracted using a pretested standardized data extraction format and analyzed using STATA 14 statistical software. A random-effect model was used to estimate the pooled prevalence of male involvement. Results: A total of 17 studies were included to give the pooled prevalence of male involvement in family planning in Ethiopia, which was 39.66% (95% confidence interval = 29.86, 49.45). Educational status (adjusted odds ratio = 1.99, 95% confidence interval = 1.26, 3.14), discussion of family planning with wife (adjusted odds ratio = 4.15, 95% confidence interval = 2.21, 7.80), knowledge (adjusted odds ratio = 1.83, 95% confidence interval = 1.26, 2.64), positive attitude about family planning (adjusted odds ratio = 2.57, 95% confidence interval = 1.70, 3.90), and approval of contraceptive use (adjusted odds ratio = 2.57, 95% confidence interval = 1.70, 3.90) were found to be significantly associated with involvement of men in family planning service. Conclusion: The overall prevalence of male involvement in family planning in Ethiopia was significantly low. Male involvement in family planning should be made available, accessible, and advocated for by government and non-governmental organizations, service providers, program planners, and stakeholders. In addition, to increase the role of men in the use of family planning services, a conducive environment for education, behavioral change, and open discussion about reproductive health issues is required. Objective: This study was done to determine the overall estimate of decision-making autonomy on maternal health services and associated factors in low- and middle-income countries. Method: PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, Scopus, and the Ethiopian University online library were searched. Data were extracted using Microsoft Excel and analyzed using STATA statistical software (version 14). Publication bias was checked by forest plot, Begg’s rank test, and Egger’s regression test. To look for heterogeneity, I² was computed, and an overall estimated analysis was carried out. Subgroup analysis was done by country, year, and publication. Joanna Briggs Institute quality assessment tool was used to check the quality of each study. We carried out a leave-one-out sensitivity analysis. Results: Out of 1305 articles retrieved, 19 studies (with 104,871 study participants) met eligibility criteria and were included in this study. The pooled prevalence of women’s decision-making autonomy on maternal health services in low- and middleincome countries was 55.15% (95% confidence interval: 44.11–66.19; I²=98.6%, P<0.001). Based on subgroup analysis, decision-making autonomy in maternal health services was the highest in Ethiopia at 61.36% (95% confidence interval: 50.58–72.15) and the lowest in Nigeria at 36.16% (95% confidence interval: 12.99–43.39). It was 32.16% (95% confidence interval: 32.72–39.60) and 60.18% (95% confidence interval: 47.92–72.44) before and after 2016, respectively. It was also 54.64% (95% confidence interval: 42.51–66.78) in published studies and 57.91% (95% confidence interval: 54.80–61.02) in unpublished studies. Age (adjusted odds ratio=2.67; 95% confidence interval: (1.29–5.55), I²=90.1%), primary level of education (adjusted odds ratio=1.75; 95% confidence interval: (1.39–2.21), I²=63.8%), secondary education level (adjusted odds ratio=2.09; 95% confidence interval: (1.32–3.32), I²=87.8%), being urban resident (adjusted odds ratio=1.80; 95% confidence interval: (1.22–2.66), I²=73%), and monthly income (adjusted odds ratio=3.23; 95% confidence interval: (1.85– 5.65), I²=97%) were positively associated with decision-making autonomy on maternal health service. Conclusion: Decision-making autonomy on maternal health services in low- and middle-income countries was low. Sociodemographic factors also influenced it. The continuum of care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postnatal period is one of the vital strategies for improving maternal and neonatal health and preventing maternal and neonatal mortalities and morbidities. The level and determinants of the complete continuum of care for maternal health services reported by different studies were extremely varied in Ethiopia. Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to estimate the overall prevalence of a complete continuum of maternal health care services utilization and its associated factors in Ethiopia. Databases such as PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct, DOJA, African journals online, Cochrane library, Google scholar, web of science, and Ethiopian universities’ institutional repository were used to search for relevant studies. A total of seven studies with 4854 study participants were involved in this study. Data were extracted by two reviewers and exported to STATA Version 11 for analysis. The I2 statistics and Egger’s test were used to assess heterogeneity and publication bias, respectively. The random-effects random effects model was used to estimate the level of complete continuum of care for maternal health services. The pooled prevalence of complete continuum of maternal healthcare services utilization was 25.51%. Employed mothers (OR = 3.16, 95%CI = 1.82, 5.47), first antenatal ante natal care visit before 16 weeks (OR = 7.53, 95% CI = 2.94, 19.29), birth preparedness and complication readiness plan (OR = 1.95, 95% CI = 1.12, 3.41), secondary and above educational status (OR = 2.97, 95% CI = 2.00, 4.41), planned pregnancy (OR = 6.86, 95% CI = 3.47, 13.58) and autonomy (OR = 3.73, 95% CI = 2.24– 6.23) were significantly associated with continuum of maternal healthcare services utilization. In conclusion, the national level of complete continuum of maternal healthcare service utilization was low in Ethiopia. Being employed mothers, first ante natal care visit before 16 weeks, birth preparedness and complication readiness plan, secondary and above educational status, autonomy, and planned pregnancy were the major determinants of continuum of maternal healthcare services utilization.
