This article presents several news and announcements made at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the American Sociological Association on January 10, 1965, in Washington. This article focuses on various events pertaining to the Council of American Educational Research Association (AERA) Conference that took place in Washington D.C., June 25-26, 2005. On Saturday, June 25, 2005, President Gloria J. Ladson-Billings welcomed the Council and staff members. On the same day, President Ladson-Billings reported that the 2006 Annual Meeting planning is progressing well. President Ladson-Billings noted that the Executive Board, which met on June 24, 2005, would bring three recommendations to the Council: (1) an investment policy; (2) a plan for the 2006 Annual Meeting; and (3) a recommendation for future Annual Meeting registration fees. Bob Nedbal, Director of Information Technology and Web Services, reported on how the AERA continues to support the mission of the Association and improve communication with members and collaboration among members through the use of information technology. Executive Director Levine reported on the work of the Ad Hoc Committee on Financial Planning appointed by Past President Cochran-Smith in January 2005.

One of the matters of primary interest in the case of the International Sociological Association (ISA) refer to the forthcoming Fifth World Congress of Sociology to be held in Washington D.C., which will overlap American Sociological Association's (ASA) annual meeting. An extensive program of arrangements is being carried out in preparation for the Congress. ASA's organizing committees under the direction of Robert C. Angell, Robert K. Merton, and Conrad Taeuber are cooperating with the Secretariat of the International Sociological Association in taking care of the many matters incidental to the World Congress. The growth of ISA since its inception a little over a decade ago has been steady. As of the end of 1961 it was composed of 34 national associations, 2 regional associations, 28 institutes, 35 individual memberships in the case of countries having no national association and 4 associate members. Several new applications will be acted on at the meeting in Washington. There is currently a feeling among a number of delegates to the ISA that the interval between World Congresses should be extended from the present three-year period to a four or possibly a five-year period.

The article reports on the International Congress on Education of the Deaf which will be at Gallaudet College in Washington, D. C. on June 22-28, 1963. The event is being held in the country under the endorsement and guidance of the Council on Education of the Deaf. The congress will focus on the modern methods and scientific techniques on the teaching and rehabilitation of the deaf and will be attended by delegates worldwide. The Council is composed of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf, American Instructors of the Deaf and the Conference of Executives of American Schools for the Deaf.
