Background: In previous decades, large-scale research has been carried out on bacterial meningitis. In every field, citation analysis is the most significant contribution. The study's objective was to identify and analyze the 100 articles on bacterial meningitis that received the most citations between 2000 and 2023, highlighting the most significant developments in the field. Objective: The objective of this study was to find out what makes a highly influential article by identifying and analyzing the characteristics of the 100 articles in the field of bacterial meningitis that receive the most citations. The goal of this study was to find and examine the 100 articles on bacterial meningitis that received the most citations. Methodology: We identified the top 100 most-cited papers in the field of bacterial meningitis from 55 journals using the Dimensions AI database. The results of each author's analysis of 100 articles were then compared. We gathered fundamental data such as the journal's title, country of publication, and study type. Descriptive counts or percentages were used to compare the various categories. Results: Between the year 2000 and the year 2023, articles were published. The total number of citations ranged from 115 to 1176, with 42 papers receiving more than 200 citations. In 2008, 14 articles were published, followed by 10 in 2000 and 2007. One thousand one hundred and seventy-six times were given to the most-cited paper, whereas 115 times were given to the least-cited article. "Clinical Features and Prognostic Factors in Adults with Bacterial Meningitis," by Diederik van de Beek, et al. (2004) was the article that received the most citations. 1176 people have cited this article. van de Beek Diederik of the Academic Medical Center in The Netherlands is the author who has written the most articles, was mentioned in 14 of the top 100 articles. Papers were primarily published in Pediatrics (n = 9) publication with 1861 citations. The Netherlands came in second with 18 publications, followed by the United States (n = 46). Conclusion: Our study uses bibliometrics and visualization analysis of the most important articles in this field to show the current state of research in the area of bacterial meningitis, provide a history of research trends, and offer a perspective for future bacterial predicts the growth of meningitis. Introduction: Twenty-two Arab countries comprise the League of Arab States. While united in Arab identity, diversities among these countries exist at many levels. Conducting and publishing research in the Arabic speaking countries is an essential pillar for improving the status of the nursing profession. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to assess the current status, trends, challenges, and opportunities of nursing research in Arab countries. Methodology: An integrative review was conducted using (1) Index Medicus for the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office Database Journals Directory (IMEMR), (2) the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals Database (IASJD), (3) Ulrichsweb (UW), (4) The Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research/Middle Eastern Journals (GFMER), (5) the Nursing Journal Directory (NJD), (6) the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and (7) Google Scholar. Journals and articles that met inclusion criteria were accessed, retrieved, reviewed, and subjected to content analysis by three authors, two of which were fluent in English, French, and Arabic languages. A third author fluent in all three languages confirmed the findings. Results: Nursing research in Arabic-speaking countries has evolved over the past decades but is still lacking compared to global nursing research. Moreover, it was found to be largely situated within academic institutions and linked to tenure and promotion requirements. Background: Open access (OA) publications are increasingly common in orthopaedic literature. However, whether OA publications are associated with increased readership or citations among total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) literature is unclear. We hypothesize that compared with non-OA status, OA status is associated with increased social media dissemination, and readership, but not with citation count. This study aimed to analyze social media attention, citations, readership, and cost of TAA OA and non-OA publications. Methods: Using a PubMed query search, there were 368 publications from 81 journals, with 25% (91/368) being OA articles and 75% (277/368) non-OA articles from 2016 to 2023. We analyzed the Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), Mendeley readership score, and citations between OA vs non-OA articles. Citations and cost of OA articles were determined using an altered timeline and publisher's website, respectively. Subgroup analysis was performed among articles published in the top 5 TAA journals (Tables 2 and 3). Negative binomial regression was used while adjusting for days since publication. Significance was considered at P <.05. Results: OA publication was associated with a larger mean AAS score (8.7 ± 37.0 vs 4.8 ± 26.3), Mendeley readership (42.4 ± 41.6 vs 34.9 ± 25.7), and Twitter mentions (4.6 ± 7.4 vs 3.3 ± 8.1), but not citations (19.7 ± 24.8 vs 20.3 ± 23.5) (Table 1). Background: As information on the meniscus accumulates in PubMed, it is possible to evaluate the trends in research on the topic over time. Purpose: To evaluate the major trends in meniscus-related publications in PubMed from the earliest publication to the present day. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: PubMed was searched on January 3, 2023, using the search strategy "menisc *"[All Fields] AND ("knee"[MeSH Terms] OR "knee"[All Fields] OR "knee joint"[MeSH Terms] OR ("knee"[All Fields] AND "joint"[All Fields]) OR "knee joint"[All Fields]) AND 1900/01/01:2022/12/31[Date - Publication]. This retrieved 15,569 human and animal studies. We determined the top 10 meniscus-related publications in terms of overall citations and citations per year, as well as the top 10 authors, journals, countries, and institutions of cited publications on the meniscus. In addition, we performed word-cloud analyses based on meniscus-related terms from different periods (before 1981, before 2000, after 2005, and in the past 5 years [2018-2022]), including the year of first appearance and the number of publications featured. Results: Since the first recorded publication on the meniscus in 1928, there was a steady growth in the number of articles until 2005, when there was an upsurge in publications from 254 in 2005 to 955 in 2022. Noyes was the author with the most citations (n = 3314), and a 2006 study by Caplan and Dennis had the most citations per year (n = 125). Arthroscopy published the most articles on the meniscus with 1118, whereas the Journal of Cellular Biochemistry had the most citations per article with 125.69. The most published countries and institutes were the United States and the Hospital for Special Surgery, respectively. Word-cloud analysis of article titles showed that "meniscectomy" had become less prominent, and "root,""ramp,""transplantation," and "slope" had become more prominent. Objective: Microtia is a congenital auricular malformation with a hypoplastic external ear that ranges in severity from a slightly smaller auricle to complete the absence of the auricle. The present study was conducted to identify and analyze the characteristics of microtia-related articles published from 2006 to 2020 by using bibliometric analyses. Method: Microtia-related studies published from 2006 to 2020 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Keywords, first author, citations, date of publication, and publication journal were extracted and quantitatively analyzed using Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder software and the Bibliometric (https://bibliometric.com/app). VOSviewer was used to visualize research and form a network map on keywords and citations. Results: A total of 1031 articles from 2006 to 2020 were included. The number of articles showed an overall trend of growth over time. The United States and China are the top 2 countries in terms of the number of microtia-related articles. From the analysis of keyword clustering, keywords could be mainly divided into 4 clusters in the field of microtia research: surgery, tissue engineering, epidemiology, and rehabilitation including hearing-related treatments, evaluation of effects, and quality of life after surgery. The top 10 most frequently cited papers from 2006 to 2020 were also extracted and analyzed. Conclusion: A bibliometric research of microtia-related articles from 2006 to 2020 was conducted. This study may be helpful to understand the current research status of microtia and find the research trends in this field, thus proposing future directions for microtia research. Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) are crucial in comparative research, and a careful approach to randomization methodology helps minimize bias. However, confounding variables like socioeconomic status (SES) and race are often underreported in orthopaedic RCTs, potentially affecting the generalizability of results. This study aimed to analyze the reporting trends of SES and race in RCTs pertaining to Achilles tendon pathology, considering 4 decades of data from top-tier orthopaedic journals. Methods: This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and used PubMed to search 10 high-impact factor orthopaedic journals for RCTs related to the management of Achilles tendon pathology. The search encompassed all articles from the inception of each journal until July 11, 2023. Data extraction included year of publication, study type, reporting of SES and race, primary study location, and intervention details. Results: Of the 88 RCTs identified, 68 met the inclusion criteria. Based on decade of publication, 6 articles (8.8%) reported on SES, whereas only 2 articles (2.9%) reported on race. No RCTs reported SES in the pre-1999 period, but the frequency of reporting increased in subsequent decades. Meanwhile, all RCTs reporting race were published in the current decade (2020-2030), with a frequency of 20%. When considering the study location, RCTs conducted outside the United States were more likely to report SES compared with those within the USA. Conclusion: This review revealed a concerning underreporting of SES and race in Achilles tendon pathology RCTs. The reporting percentage remains low for both SES and race, indicating a need for comprehensive reporting practices in orthopaedic research. Understanding the impact of SES and race on treatment outcomes is critical for informed clinical decision making and ensuring equitable patient care. Background: The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) has been investigated widely in the past 30 years, resulting in many research achievements in this field. Purpose: To perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to evaluate the 100 top-cited articles on the MPFL. Study design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: We searched the Scopus database in December 2022 using the terms "medial patellofemoral ligament" OR "MPFL." The search was confined to English-language articles, including technical notes, systematic reviews on clinical outcomes and/or complications, clinical studies, studies regarding complications, and basic science articles (either cadaveric or biomechanical); we excluded letters, case reports, personal opinions, guidelines, editorials, and narrative or other types of reviews. Analysis of the 100 top-cited articles was performed according to total number of citations, average citations per year (ACY), study type, country of origin, journal of publication, affiliated institution, and most published authors. Results: The total number of citations was 16,358 (range of citations per article, 72-692). The majority of articles were published as clinical studies (54%), with cadaveric studies being the second most common (21%). Most studies originated in the United States (32%), with Japan (15%) and Germany (13%) following. The American Journal of Sports Medicine published the majority of the 100 top-cited articles (37/100; 6304 citations) as well as the 10 top-cited articles according to ACY (7/10; mean, 285.14 citations). The most prolific authors were Nomura (8 articles); Burks (6 articles); and Inoue, Sillanpää, and Dreyhaupt (5 articles each). Conclusion: By analyzing the characteristics of the 100 top-cited articles, this study demonstrated that the MPFL is a growing and popular area of research, with the focus varying through timeline trends. Questions regarding MPFL anatomy, isometry, and biomechanics might have been answered adequately, but research regarding optimal fixation technique under various circumstances is still ongoing. Journal editors depend on peer reviewers to make decisions about submitted manuscripts. These reviewers help evaluate the methods, the results, the discussion of the results, and the overall organization and presentation of the manuscript. In addition, reviewers can help identify important mistakes and possible misconduct. Editors frequently have difficulty obtaining enough peer reviews which are submitted in a timely manner. This increases the workload of editors and journal managers and potentially delays the publication of clinical and research studies. This commentary discusses of the importance of peer reviews and make suggestions which potentially can increase the participation of academic faculty and researchers in this important activity. Background: Research in the form of poster and podium abstracts is disseminated at subspecialty society meetings. The quality of this research can be defined by exploring the ultimate publication rate of the presented abstracts. Purpose: To investigate (1) the manuscript publication rate of abstracts presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) annual meeting; (2) whether abstract format (poster vs podium) influences overall or 2-year publication rates and time to publication; (3) the abstract factors that are associated with increased publication rate; and (4) whether publication quality as measured by journal of publication, level of evidence (LOE), and number of citations differs between posters and podiums. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Poster and podium abstracts that were presented at the AOSSM annual meetings between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019, were included. The PubMed and GoogleScholar databases were searched by abstract title and authors to determine whether the related manuscript had been published. For published manuscripts, the journal, journal impact factor (IF), time to publication, authors, and LOE were recorded. Results: The manuscripts of 664 abstracts (341 poster, 323 podium presentations) were published during the study period. The overall publication rate was 52.4%. Publication within 2 years of the meeting was found to be higher in podium abstracts (45.8%) compared with poster abstracts (37.8%) (P =.0366). Podium abstracts had a shorter time to publication (P <.001), higher LOE (P =.0166), more citations (P <.0001), and were published in higher IF journals (P =.0028). Poster presentations were more likely to undergo a change in first author between the time of the conference and future publication (P =.0300). The most common journal of publication was the American Journal of Sports Medicine (36.8%). Conclusion: Abstracts presented at the AOSSM annual meeting had a high rate of publication within 2 years. There was no difference in publication rates between podium and poster abstracts, but podium abstracts had a shorter time to publication and more future citations and were published in journals with higher IFs. Objectives: Public Health Reports (PHR), the official journal of the Office of the US Surgeon General and US Public Health Service, is the oldest public health journal in the United States. Considering its heritage through the eyes of its past editors in chief (EICs), many of whom have been influential public health figures, can provide a fresh point of view on US public health history, of which the journal has been an integral part. Here, we reconstruct the timeline of past PHR EICs and identify women among them. Methods: We reconstructed the PHR EIC timeline by reviewing the journal's previous mastheads and its articles describing leadership transitions. For each EIC, we identified dates in office, concurrent job titles, key contributions, and other important developments. Results: PHR had 25 EIC transitions in 109 years of its history, during which a single individual in charge of the journal could be identified. Only 5 identifiable EICs were women, who served as EIC for approximately one-quarter of the journal's traceable history (28 of 109 years). PHR 's longest-serving EIC was a woman named Marian P. Tebben (1974-1994). Conclusions: PHR history revealed frequent EIC transitions and a low representation of women among its EICs. Mapping the timeline of past EICs of a historic public health journal can yield valuable insights into the workings of US public health, especially in the area of building a research evidence base. Background: Alternative citation metrics—such as the Altmetric Attention Score (AAS), number of tweets (TN), and dimensions badge value (DBV)—are emerging as new options for assessing the value of scientific works. Purpose: To analyze the AAS of highly cited articles on the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and to assess the relationship between alternative and traditional metrics such as journal rankings and article citation performance. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A search was conducted using the Web of Science Core Collection of databases with "anterior cruciate ligament" as the search term. Full-text articles published between 2011 and 2021 were reviewed, and the top 100 cited articles were determined. The articles were analyzed by publication year, study design, research topic, journal impact factor, journal h -index, number of total citations (TC), recent citations (RC) (ie, citations in the latest 2 years), and average citation per year (ACY), as well as AAS, TN, and DBV. Results: For articles in the top 100 list, the median TC was 160 (interquartile range [IQR], 117-561) and the median AAS was 24.50 (IQR, 1-730). A higher AAS score was achieved by articles on return to sports and anterolateral ligament (P <.05). The AAS and TN were significantly and positively correlated with the RC (r = 0.459 and P =.001; r = 0.438 and P =.001, respectively) and ACY (r = 0.363 and P =.001; r = 0.393 and P =.001, respectively). Conclusion: Alternative metrics were linked to traditional metrics but were not a direct representation of bibliometrics. The AAS was not correlated with TC numbers in the ACL research. Higher AAS and Twitter popularity of an article were related to receiving high-volume RC performance. The DBV represented a stronger correlation with traditional metrics than the AAS. Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) stand atop the evidence-based hierarchy of study designs for their ability to arrive at results with the lowest risk of bias. Even for RCTs, however, critical appraisal is essential before applying results to clinical practice. Purpose: To analyze the quality of reporting of RCTs published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) from 1990 to 2020 and to identify trends over time and areas of improvement for future trials. Study Design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 1. Methods: We queried the AJSM database for RCTs published between January 1990 and December 2020. Data pertaining to study characteristics were recorded. Quality assessments were conducted using the Detsky quality-of-reporting index and the modified Cochrane risk-of-bias (mROB) tool. Univariate and multivariable models were generated to establish factors with associations to study quality. The Fragility Index was calculated for eligible studies. Results: A total of 277 RCTs were identified with a median sample size of 70 patients. A total of 19 RCTs were published between 1990 and 2000 (t1); 82 RCTs between 2001 and 2010 (t2); and 176 RCTs between 2011 and 2020 (t3). From t1 to t3, significant increases were observed in the overall mean-transformed Detsky score (from 68.2% ± 9.8% to 87.4% ± 10.2%, respectively; P <.001) and mROB score (from 4.7 ± 1.6 to 6.9 ± 1.6, respectively; P <.001). Multivariable regression analysis revealed that trials with follow-up periods of <5 years clearly stated primary outcomes, and a focus on the elbow, shoulder, or knee were associated with higher mean-transformed Detsky and mROB scores. The median Fragility Index was 2 (interquartile range, 0-5) for trials with statistically significant. Studies with small sample sizes (<100 patients) were more likely to have low Fragility Index scores and less likely to have a statistically significant finding in any outcome. Conclusion: The quantity and quality of published RCTs published in AJSM increased over the past 3 decades. However, single-center trials with small sample sizes were prone to fragile results. Objective: Public Health Reports (PHR) is the oldest public health journal in the United States and has reported on viral epidemics since the 19th century. We describe the creation and analysis of a collection of historic PHR articles on emerging viral epidemics in the United States to inform public health response to COVID-19 and future epidemics. Methods: We searched databases from 1878 through 2021 using custom search strings and conducted a manual search for articles published under previously used names for PHR. We evaluated all articles based on inclusion/exclusion criteria and coded the final list for virus/disease, article type, public health emergency preparedness and response capabilities from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and PubMed citation count. Results: We identified 349 relevant articles including 130 commentaries/reviews/editorials, 79 epidemiologic reports, 75 research articles, and 65 case study/practice articles. The collection focused on influenza (n = 244), COVID-19 (n = 75), dengue (n = 14), and other emerging viruses, such as Zika and Ebola (n = 25). The collection included 48 articles on health disparities/health of various disadvantaged populations, highlighting such disparities as race and ethnicity (n = 22), socioeconomic status (n = 17), and age (n = 15). When we categorized articles by CDC public health emergency preparedness and response capabilities, we found that 207 addressed surveillance and epidemiologic investigation, 36 addressed community preparedness, and 28 addressed medical countermeasure dispensing and administration. The articles addressing surveillance and epidemiologic investigation, nonpharmaceutical interventions, and community preparedness had the most PubMed citations (799, 334, and 308, respectively). Conclusions: PHR 's historic articles on US emerging viral epidemics covered a range of virus/disease types, emergency preparedness and response capabilities, and contribution types and were widely cited in the scholarly literature. Objective: High-quality scientific evidence underpins public health decision making. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) agency provides scientific data, including during public health emergencies. To understand CDC's contributions to COVID-19 science, we conducted a bibliometric evaluation of publications authored by CDC scientists from January 20, 2020, through January 20, 2022, by using a quality improvement approach (SQUIRE 2.0). Methods: We catalogued COVID-19 articles with ≥1 CDC-affiliated author published in a scientific journal and indexed in the World Health Organization's COVID-19 database. We identified priority topic areas from the agency's COVID-19 Public Health Science Agenda by using keyword scripts in EndNote and then assessed the impact of the published articles by using Scopus and Altmetric. Results: During the first 2 years of the agency's pandemic response, CDC authors contributed to 1044 unique COVID-19 scientific publications in 208 journals. Publication topics included testing (n = 853, 82%); prevention strategies (n = 658, 63%); natural history, transmission, breakthrough infections, and reinfections (n = 587, 56%); vaccines (n = 567, 54%); health equity (n = 308, 30%); variants (n = 232, 22%); and post–COVID-19 conditions (n = 44, 4%). Publications were cited 40 427 times and received 81 921 news reports and 1 058 893 social media impressions. As the pandemic evolved, CDC adapted to address new scientific questions, including vaccine effectiveness, safety, and access; viral variants, including Delta and Omicron; and health equity. Conclusion: The agency's COVID-19 Public Health Science Agenda helped guide impactful scientific activities. CDC continues to evaluate COVID-19 priority topic areas and contribute to development of new scientific work. Mitigating the impacts of Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) and substance use requires comprehensive and systematic thinking in designing interventions and developing policies. This study describes the growth of research publications from 1991 to 2021 in the Web of Science database and points out current research landscapes in the fields of HIV/AIDS and substance use. Latent Dirichlet Allocation was used for classifying 21 359 papers into corresponding topics. The most common topics were HIV transmission, HIV infection, quality of life and mental health of substance users, and the biomedical effect of substance use. Emerging research landscapes include vulnerabilities of people who inject drugs to HIV transmission and related health problems. This study found a lack of research on health services, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral in combination with clinical evaluation and treatment services. Future investment and implementation of HIV/AIDS and substance use programs should focus on research of health services and clinical evaluation, especially context-specific interventions. Objective: The high-cited publications (HCPs) (with 50 or more citations) on orthopedic research from India were analyzed on various parameters. Methodology: The HCPs that were published between 2002 and 2021, on the Indian orthopedic research and indexed in the Scopus database were evaluated on various parameters. A network analysis was used to evaluate and visualize the collaborative interaction among the most productive organizations, authors, and keywords using VOSviewer and Biblioshyn software. Results: Of the total 4606 publications, 179 (3.88%) were HCPs, that were cited 22767 times (averaging 127.19 citations per publication). An external funding was received in 24.58% of publications and 36.87% of publications had an international collaboration. The most productive organizations were the Indian Institute of Science - Bengaluru (n = 11), All India Institute of Medical Sciences - New Delhi, and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences - Kochi (n = 8 each) and the most impactful organizations in terms of citations per paper and relative citation index were Vellore Institute of Technology - Vellore, TIET - Patiala, and Lovely Professional University. The most productive authors were K. Chatterjee, D. Lahiri, and R. Vaishya. The most impactful authors were P. Mukherjee, S. Rajasekaran, and J. N. Babu in terms of citations per paper and relative citation index. Delhi was the epicenter of research and publications (n = 27). Material science and medicine contributed the largest number of publications (n = 77 and n = 73), followed by Engineering (n = 51). Treatment and clinical studies accounted maximally (24.58% and 8.38%) and hydroxyapatite (n = 40) was the most significant keyword appearing in the literature. Conclusion: This study provided an insight into understanding of research status including trends identified and studied the most influential contributions and performance of Indian organizations and authors and indicated broad and narrow subject fields contributing to this medical specialty. For apparently healthy pregnant women, regular physical activity is recommended. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) created recommendations for physical activity and exercise during pregnancy in 1985. At that time, pregnant women were advised to not exceed a heart rate of 140 beats per minute with physical activity. The heart rate recommendation was subsequently removed with the recommendations published in 1994, 2002, and 2015. In 2020, the ACOG updated its recommendations on physical activity for pregnant and postpartum women. The recommendation included exercising at a "fairly light to somewhat hard" perceived intensity and at less than 60–80% of age-predicted maximum heart rate, usually not exceeding a heart rate of 140 beats per minute. Women often seek advice from healthcare providers on physical activity during pregnancy, yet providers report concern about giving appropriate physical activity guidance. This paper summarizes the key scientific literature on monitoring absolute and relative exercise intensity in relation to the current ACOG recommendations, providing background on intensity-related concepts used in the recommendation. Introduction/Purpose: Today women are over 50% of medical school matriculants but remain underrepresented in orthopaedic surgery (~15% of residents and < 6% of practicing surgeons). Moreover, despite different and sometimes controversial reports, the rate of female society memberships and national and international meeting speakers as well as their contribution to leadership positions including moderating sessions, podiums, and symposiums are believed to be low. The objective of this study was to assess whether there is a gap in female representation among invited speakers at American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) national meetings relative to research productivity as reflected by article authorship in Foot & Ankle International journal (FAI). Methods: Programs for AOFAS specialty days and annual meetings and FAI articles from January 2012 to December 2022 were obtained. Industry-hosted programs were excluded. Gender was identified through personal acquaintance or online search on the biographies of the authors. Presentations and articles were categorized as "technical" or "non-technical", where technical was defined as relating to basic science or the clinical practice of orthopaedics. Comparisons were done using the Chi-Square Test (significance level= p< 0.05). Results: 1,020 AOFAS presentations and 2,230 FAI articles were analyzed. Gender was unavailable for 0.19% of AOFAS speakers, 4.48% of FAI first authors and 4.13% of FAI senior authors. 11.08% of AOFAS invited national meeting speakers, 15.18% of FAI first authors and 7.40% of FAI senior authors were female. Overall, the proportion of female speakers was significantly lower than female first authors (p= 0.0036), and significantly higher than female senior authors (p < 0.001). In 2018 and 2019, women were more likely to have given "non-technical" AOFAS presentations. There was no significant difference in other years or among FAI articles. The average annual change was +2.00% female AOFAS presenters, +0.31% FAI female first authors and - 0.37% FAI female senior authors per year. Conclusion: Women represented 15.16% of first authors in FAI between 2012 and 2022 but 11.08% of invited speakers at AOFAS meetings. Meanwhile, the percentage of female AOFAS membership in the organization as a whole increased from 7.5% to 13%. Thus, despite historically low rates of representation, female Foot & Ankle surgeons were proportionally represented in 2021 and 2022 among invited national conference presentations and research compared to female society membership and female research publications in FAI. There is still room to increase representation of deserving historically under-represented groups, however the increase in female AOFAS presenters demonstrates a positive trend. Background: Bibliometric citation analyses have been widely used in medicine to help researchers gain foundational knowledge about a topic and identify subtopics of popular interest for further investigations. Purpose: To identify the 50 most cited research publications related to American football. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database was used to generate a list of publications relating to football. Articles were filtered by the total number of citations, and the top 50 most cited articles studying the sport of football were selected for this analysis. Articles were analyzed by author, publication year, country of origin, institution affiliation, journal, article type, main research topic area, competitive level, and the level of evidence. A total of 247 articles were reviewed to reach the top 50 articles. Results: The most studied topic within the top 50 articles was concussion/chronic traumatic encephalopathy (n = 40). Collegiate football was the most studied level of competition (n = 25). The journal publishing the greatest number of top articles was Neurosurgery. Two institutions, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Boston University School of Medicine, produced over one-third of top 50 articles (n = 18). Conclusion: Our analysis indicated that most of the top 50 publications related to the sport of football focused on concussion and CTE, were observational, and were published during or after 2000. Background: Patellar dislocation is attracting considerable research interest. Purpose: To assess studies on patellar dislocation using a scientometric method to better understand the current status of research and explore future study directions. Study Design: Scoping review. Methods: The Web of Science Core Collection database was selected to retrieve publications on patellar dislocation. Articles and reviews written in English with patellar dislocation as the main topic were included. Conference abstracts, notes, letters, expert opinions, and animal studies were excluded. A total of 4632 articles were identified in our initial search. In addition, Excel 2019, CiteSpace 6.1.R1, and VOSviewer 1.6.9 were used to analyze the h -index, the most highly cited publication, publication essentials, and research themes. Results: A total of 1485 articles were included in our analysis, with 36,608 citations and an h -index of 93. Overall, 1494 institutions and 195 journals were identified from these studies. The United States (n = 531) was the most productive country. The institution and journal with the largest number of articles were the Hospital for Special Surgery (n = 59) and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (n = 212), respectively. The article "Scoring of Patellofemoral Disorders" by Kujala et al in 1993 was the most highly cited reference. The most commonly found terms used were patellar dislocation, patellar instability, medial patellofemoral ligament, knee, recurrent patellar dislocation, and soft tissue restraints. Four topics were identified after clustering analysis of key terms: risk factors, medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction, patellar dislocation in skeletally immature patients, and lateral retinacular release. Conclusion: This scientometric review of articles on patellar dislocation summarized the current status of research (countries, institutions, and authors) and identified potential research directions. Background: Bibliometrics is a methodology that measures the scientific output of an author, institution, or country. Visualized analysis is the transformation of data into visible form by software, highlighting important features, including commonalities and anomalies, allowing users to easily and quickly perceive significant aspects of their data. Purpose: To conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair, with visualization of trends, in order to identify the areas of interest and the primary researchers involved in ACL repair. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The PubMed database was queried on April 14, 2022, for publications that reported on ACL repair from 1960 onward. The initial search resulted in 1392 publications. Filter settings were applied to remove publications with weak correlation, such as those on meniscal repair and ACL reconstruction. Publication information, citations, authors, commonly used terms, and affiliated institutions and countries were analyzed by VOSviewer and Python. Results: A total of 553 articles were included for analysis. Three techniques were visualized: bridge-enhanced ACL repair, internal brace, and dynamic intraligamentary stabilization. The most published authors were Martha Murray (51 articles), Gregory Difelice (35 articles), and Braden Fleming (31 articles). The most cited article was "Collagen–Platelet Rich Plasma Hydrogel Enhances Primary Repair of the Porcine Anterior Cruciate Ligament" by Murray et al. The journals with the most publications on ACL repair were the American Journal of Sports Medicine (n = 49); Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (n = 49); and Arthroscopy (n = 48). The top 3 institutions by publication number were the Hospital for Special Surgery (n = 51), Boston Children's Hospital (n = 49), and Brown University (n = 31), with the most publications coming from the United States (n = 242), Germany (n = 83), and the United Kingdom (n = 47). Conclusion: The results demonstrate that the research on ACL repair comes from a small number of authors and corresponding institutions; the top sports medicine journals and the developed countries have an interest in this topic. Background: Popularization of systematic reviews has been met with controversy because of concerns that the primary literature for certain topics may not be suited for systematic review and meta-analysis. Purpose: To assess the rate of publication of systematic reviews based on their level of evidence (LOE) in influential orthopaedic sports medicine journals and commonly studied topics in sports medicine. Study Design: Systematic review. Methods: An electronic search was performed using the PubMed database of studies published from January 2010 to December 2020. The advanced search function was used to identify systematic reviews from the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (JSES), American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM), Arthroscopy, British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM), Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery–American Volume (JBJS), and Sports Medicine (SM Auckland), as well as reviews of the most common areas of sports medicine research, including rotator cuff repair (RCR), shoulder instability (SI), anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), and meniscal repair. The LOE was assigned to each included study according to the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine. Studies were grouped as LOE 1-2, LOE 3-5, and nonclinical systematic reviews. A negative binomial regression was used to determine the changes in publication rate over time. Results: A total of 2162 systematic reviews were included in this study. From 2010 to 2020, the rate of publication of LOE 3-5 systematic reviews increased significantly among most of the surveyed journals (AJSM, P <.0001; Arthroscopy, P =.01; BJSM, P <.0001; JSES, P <.0001; SM Auckland, P <.0001), with the exception of JBJS (P =.57). The rate of publication of LOE 1-2 systematic reviews increased in AJSM (P <.0001), Arthroscopy (P =.02), BJSM (P <.0001), and SM Auckland (P <.0001); however, no significant changes were seen in JBJS (P =.08) or JSES (P =.15). The publication rate of LOE 3-5 systematic reviews increased for all sports medicine topics surveyed (meniscal repair, P <.0001; RCR, P <.0001; SI, P <.0001; ACLR, P <.0001). However, the publication rate of LOE 1-2 studies only increased for RCR (P =.0003) and ACLR (P <.0001). Conclusion: The rate of publication of LOE 3-5 systematic reviews exponentially increased in orthopaedic sports medicine journals over the past decade, outpacing the publication rate of LOE 1-2 systematic reviews. There is a lack of similar research in collegiate athletics. Purpose: To identify the 100 most-cited research publications related to collegiate athletics. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The Clarivate Analytics Web of Knowledge database was used to generate a list of articles relating to collegiate athletics on January 24, 2022. Articles were filtered by the total number of citations, and the 100 most-cited articles were selected. For each article, we identified and analyzed the following: author name, publication year, country of origin, journal name, article type, main research topic area, competitive level, sex of study population, and level of evidence. Results: Of the top 100 most-cited articles, 63 were related to medicine. In total, 96% of articles were published in the United States, and 80% were published in the year 2000 or later. Of the top 100 articles, 85 were observational; only 5 were experimental. The sport most represented was soccer, followed by football, baseball, and basketball. Of the top 100 articles, 21 were published in a single journal, the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Ten authors published ≥5 of the top 100 most-cited studies. Conclusion: The majority of top 100 articles were published in the United States after 1999 and primarily focused on medicine-related topics. Soccer was studied by more articles than football, baseball, and basketball. An author's prestige may have influenced the likelihood of citation. The top 100 most-cited studies provide researchers, medical students, residents, and fellows with a foundational list of the most important and influential academic contributions to the literature on collegiate athletics. Background: Scientific publication and original articles remain the primary method of sharing scientific findings and advancing the knowledge base of that subject. Despite the value of these publications, little research has surveyed what topics are being published. This study aims to identify and characterize the most common topics in current foot and ankle literature. Methods: We reviewed all 1514 published articles in a 5.5-year period (January 2014-June 2019) in 2 foot and ankle-specific journals: Foot & Ankle International (FAI) and Foot and Ankle Surgery (FAS). The articles were sorted into different topic domains to identify the 3 most common categories of publication. The top 3 domains were further characterized by level of evidence (LOE) as well as citations. Results: The 3 most published topics in foot and ankle literature were hallux valgus (8.3%), total ankle arthroplasty (TAA) (8.3%), and ankle fracture (6.6%). These 3 subjects accounted for 351 articles (23.2%). Other common topics were patientreported outcomes (5.0%), osteochondritis dissecans (3.9%), syndesmotic injury (3.8%), ankle instability (3.7%), hallux rigidus (3.0%), and anatomy (2.8%). The average LOE for articles on hallux valgus, TAA, and ankle fracture was 3.27 from FAI, and the average number of annual citations for a given article in both journals was 3.05. Based on our study, there is no correlation between LOE and number of overall citations, but there is a significant, negative linear correlation in ankle fracture data. We also found that articles on TAA had the highest impact factor and that articles from FAI were cited more often than articles from FAS. Conclusion: The 3 most published topics in foot and ankle literature comprise only 23.2% of all articles. This finding is indicative of the wide variety of cases performed by orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeons. High-quality data are still needed in all topics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Readers of this journal are undoubtedly already aware that substance use disorders (SUDs) are a significant public health problem. More than 2% of the world population is living with a substance abuse disorder, and 1.4% of the global burden of disease is attributable to alcohol and illicit drug use. What readers may have had less opportunity to consider is that occupational therapists are an underutilized resource in our response to the substance use disorder crisis, and that occupational therapy researchers can provide key insights into the nature of substance use in individuals' lives and in our communities. Background: This study aimed to analyze the landscape of publications on bariatric metabolic surgery through machine learning and help experts and scholars from various disciplines better understand bariatric metabolic surgery's hot topics and trends. Methods: In January 2021, publications indexed in PubMed under the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) term 'Bariatric Surgery' from 1946 to 2020 were downloaded. Python was used to extract publication dates, abstracts, and research topics from the metadata of publications for bibliometric evaluation. Descriptive statistical analysis, social network analysis (SNA), and topic modeling with latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) were used to reveal bariatric metabolic surgery publication growth trends, landscape, and research topics. Results: A total of 21,798 records of bariatric metabolic surgery-related literature data were collected from PubMed. The number of publications indexed to bariatric metabolic surgery had expanded rapidly. Obesity Surgery and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases are currently the most published journals in bariatric metabolic surgery. The bariatric metabolic surgery research mainly included five topics: bariatric surgery intervention, clinical case management, basic research, body contour, and surgical risk study. Background: To delineate the scientific publications on metal hypersensitivity. Methods: Scopus database from 1946 to 2020, written in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. This is a bibliometric study, with a descriptive and quantitative approach. For data analysis, we used RStudio® and VOSviewer® and bibliometric packages--bibliometrix and biblioshiny. Results: Of the 804 articles retrieved, most of the publications come from European, Asian, and American countries, with Germany, Japan, and United States leading. Published articles and keywords refer to orthopedic, dermatological, and orthodontic specialties. Conclusion: Scientific production is scarce with slight oscillations in the studied period, authored predominantly by researchers in North America and Europe. Articles were mostly published in scientific journals in the fields of dermatology, dentistry, and orthopedics, which indicated the need for greater investments in the research development on the topic.
