The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) received a U.S.$2 million grant from Kaiser Permanente in January 2022 to increase confidence, equity, and uptake in the COVID-19 vaccine and other school required vaccinations in children ages 5 to 11 in Kaiser’s nine markets (eight states and the District of Columbia). NASN was partnered with the Institute of Educational Leadership (IEL) in this initiative to examine ways both organizations could learn how school nurses (SNs) and community schools (CSs) could collaborate to address the goals of this project. NASN gave 54 Implementation Grants in two funding cycles in 2022 and is co-funding two SN-CS collaboration projects with IEL. The Part 1 article provides an overview of the project’s goals, grant strategy and processes, grantee information, NASN created tools that resulted from this funding, and successful implementation of the project, which demonstrates NASN’s capacity for future similar projects.

Objective: The objective of this study was to describe the safety, efficacy, and potential role in therapy of once in 6 months paliperidone palmitate formulation (PP6M; Invega Hafyera). PP6M is a long-acting injectable antipsychotic recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of schizophrenia. Data Sources: A PubMed literature search was conducted using the following terms: paliperidone palmitate and long-acting antipsychotic injections (January 1, 2017, to November 1, 2022). FDA product labeling was also reviewed for pertinent data. Study Selection and Data Extraction: All relevant English-language articles focused on the efficacy and safety of PP6M were considered for inclusion. Data Synthesis: A multicenter, randomized, active controlled relapse prevention noninferiority study showed that PP6M is comparable to paliperidone palmitate once in 3 months formulation (PP3M) in terms of efficacy and safety in clinically stable schizophrenia patients. Place in Therapy: PP6M is indicated in the treatment of adult patients with schizophrenia, who need treatment over a prolonged period. It improves adherence and decreases the rate of relapse and hospitalizations among patients with schizophrenia. It is useful for patients who may have difficulty accessing health care or would prefer the convenience of less frequent injections. Conclusion: PP6M with its long duration of action and lowered frequency of administration (once every 6 months) expands the therapeutic choices available to patients with schizophrenia. More studies in patients with schizophrenia with PP6M, and perhaps other mental illnesses (eg, schizoaffective disorder), are required to fully elucidate the therapeutic potential of PP6M.

Purpose Comparison of anal pre-cancer screening strategies in men who have sex with men (MSM). Methods MSM in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study underwent repeated anal cytology (aCyt), oncogenic human papillomavirus (oncHPV) testing. A subset received High-Resolution Anoscopy (HRA). We evaluated three screening strategies for their ability to predict anal histological High-Grade Squamous Intraepithelial lesion (HSIL): single aCyt, sequential aCyt, and oncHPV co-testing. Multivariable logistic regression models evaluated risk of HSIL among participants undergoing HRA within 5 years of screening. Sensitivity and specificity were estimated among participants with HRA, and results corrected for verification bias using weighted generalized estimating equations. Results There were 1426 MSM with aCyt screening (48% people with HIV [PWH]) and 428 that underwent HRA. Median age was 57 years, 14% of PWH had CD4< 350 cells/mm3. HSIL probability was higher in MSM with one (39%, p < 0.01) or two abnormal aCyt results (46%, p < 0.01), versus those with normal aCyt (23–24%). Among men with abnormal aCyt, men with oncHPV+ had significantly higher risk than those who were oncHPV- (47% vs. 16%, p < 0.01). Specificity was modest with single aCyt+ (50%) but increased with sequential aCyt+ (79%) or oncHPV+ (67%). Sensitivity was high with single oncHPV+ (88%), moderate with single aCyt+ (66%) and oncHPV+ co-testing (61%), and low with sequential aCyt+ (39%). After correcting for potential verification bias, specificity increased and sensitivity decreased, but inferences were similar. Conclusion None of the screening strategies evaluated had both sufficient specificity and sensitivity to warrant routine widespread use.

Existing ergonomic assessment tools have been designed for routine and structured work making their use in informal work setting challenging due to the high variability in tasks performed by informal workers. The Ergonomic Assessment tool for Unstructured Work (EAUW) was developed by Acquah and colleagues to address this challenge. The tool is efficient and has good inter-observer reliability, but little information is known about its other psychometric properties. This paper assesses the reliability and validity of EAUW. Criterion validity was determined by comparing the EAUW with existing tools for a selected number of e-waste recycling tasks. Intra-observer reliability was determined by comparing observations from the same assessor 5 days apart. Results indicated a high intra-observer agreement for all exposure variables. Compared to existing tools which provide a snapshot of ergonomic exposures, the EAUW provides a more detailed estimate of work exposures between- and within-workers across time.

Proactive ergonomic analysis of occupational tasks using digital human figure models requires accurate prediction of worker postures. A wide range of methods have been proposed and used, including posture libraries, statistical methods including regression, and optimization approaches that incorporate hypothesized criteria such as strength maximization. A common challenge in the implementation of any method is ensuring that the resulting postures are consistent with the kinematic linkage of the figure model, the boundary constraints are satisfied, including those relevant to the task, and that the figure remains in balance after taking into account external forces. Neural network methods have been applied to human posture prediction for more than 25 years, but successful implementation for human posture prediction requires careful consideration of the relevant constraints. This paper describes the implementation of DNN methods within the Human Motion Simulation Framework, which provides a hierarchical structure for posture and motion prediction applicable to any human figure model.

Aims: The study aimed to review the use of synthetic grafts (SGs) and autologous vein grafts (AVGs) in visceral arterial reconstruction (VAR) in chronic visceral ischaemia. Methods: Systematic review methodology was employed. Results: Six studies were included (218 patients and 281 vessels). Two studies had data about AVG only, 3 had data about SG only and 1 had both AVG and SG data. Three studies reported outcomes for AVG (117 patients and 132 vessels revascularized). One-year primary patency was 87% (95% CI 71%, 97%). Graft thrombosis rate was 6% (95% CI 0%, 16%). Pooled stenosis rate at one-year was 11% (95% CI 1%, 28%). The 30-day (n = 96), one-year (n = 72) and 5-year mortality (n = 30) were 0%, 0% and 12%, respectively. Four studies reported outcomes for SGs (106 patients and 147 vessels). The pooled primary patency at one year was 100% (95% CI 99%, 100%). Pooled primary 5-year patency rate was 88% (95% CI 69%, 100%). There was no graft infection in 2 of the 3 studies. Overall pooled percentage of graft thrombosis and stenosis at one year was 0%. Jimenez et al. (2002) reported one graft thrombosis at 20 months and graft stenosis in 2 patients at 46 and 49 months. Illuminati et al (2017) reported graft thrombosis in 2/24 patients at 22 and 52 months. Thirty days, one-year and 5-year mortality was 1% (95% CI 0%, 6), 7% (95% CI 0%, 20%) and 39% (95% CI 11%), respectively. Conclusion: Patency was better with SG compared with AVG. Mortality was higher in the SG group. Graft dilatation does occur with vein grafts, but in this review no intervention was found necessary. Poorly designed studies, incomplete reporting and absence of morbidity and mortality indices preclude emphatic conclusions.

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the perceptions of clinical social workers compared to other mental health professionals (OMHPs). Methods: This exploratory survey research evaluates the perceptions of clinical licensure from social workers ( N = 519) and OMHPs ( N = 624) in a midwestern state. Results: The results indicate that most respondents believe that universities should be evaluated based on whether students pass licensing exams, and that faculty should be licensed. Many social workers feel ill-prepared to take a licensing exam. There are significant differences between social workers and OMHP in several areas. Additionally, differences are distinct between social workers who are people of color and White in their perception of universities’ ability to prepare them for licensing exams. Conclusions: This research serves as a prototype for a more extensive study exploring social workers’ perceptions of licensure's three main components: examination, supervision, and education.

Our world is at a turning point with biological and social pathogens wreaking havoc at the same time that science and technology are exploding with new discoveries. It is a pivotal time for the new report Oral Health in America: Advances and Challenges to be released and a pivotal time for our profession to take action and lead. The art, science, and practice of dentistry is very different from 20 y ago when the original Surgeon General’s report was released. We are on the precipice of individualized health care where providers will collaborate to deliver diagnostics and therapeutics that are data driven and inclusive of the social determinants of health. To move forward with alacrity requires a strong scientific foundation, effective educational approaches, an understanding of the upstream determinants of health, and partnerships across the health professions and beyond. Oral health has never been more important, and now is the time for our profession to further develop, elevate, and translate the science into practice and policy to improve the nation’s health.

Objective: To describe the early feeding, weaning, and oral hygiene practices of children with early childhood caries (ECC), their parents’ knowledge and attitudes regarding infant feeding, and the feeding-related challenges faced by the parents. Methods: This descriptive qualitative study involved parents of children with ECC who sought dental treatment at an academic dental college in India. Data were collected though focus groups conducted with the 27 parents of children with ECC, using a focus group discussion guide. Data were analyzed using the content analysis method. Results: Community norms, such as learning from the older women in the families or neighborhoods, guided the feeding method, duration of feeding, and weaning. Breastfeeding or bottle-feeding at bedtime beyond 12 mo of age and feeding sugary drinks during weaning were standard practices, despite knowing the risk for dental caries. Parents faced multiple challenges regarding weaning and were unaware of the significance of infant oral hygiene practices. Conclusion: In children with ECC, infant feeding practices included prolonged breastfeeding or bottle-feeding beyond the required age, feeding at bedtime, and feeding sugary drinks. Although the parents knew that these feeding habits could increase the risk for caries, they lacked the self-efficacy to translate their knowledge into action during weaning. Also, they lacked awareness regarding infant oral hygiene practices. Knowledge Transfer Statement: The study provides information on the feeding habits of infants that can increase the risk for caries, the challenges faced by the parents of these children in altering these risky habits, and their lack of knowledge on infant oral hygiene practices. Policy/decision makers can advocate for pediatricians and pediatric dentists to incorporate anticipatory guidance or motivational interviewing techniques to tailor the preventive program for ECC for Indian children.

Driverless shared automated vehicles (SAVs) have the potential to substantially improve independent mobility for the growing number of older adults and people with disabilities who are unable or ineligible to drive. However, early designs and deployments of SAVs have lacked accommodations for people with disabilities. This article describes a case study where post-production modifications were performed on a commercial electric SAV in an attempt to comply with US accessibility guidelines for conventional vehicles. Findings emphasize the key human factors considerations for physical accessibility and some lessons learned in order to inform the broader conversation about the accessible design of emerging SAVs. The case study highlights the need for considering accessibility and usability early in the design of complex technological systems such as automated vehicles.

Community and health services often overlook health care needs of persons experiencing homelessness, which leads to deterioration in health and increased utilization of emergency services. Since homeless people are underrepresented in health service research, little is known about their unmet health care needs, particularly in smaller cities where resources are limited. This community-based participatory research explored the experiences of small-city homeless service users (HSUs) with unmet health care needs and community service providers (CSPs) who work with them to determine barriers to health care access affecting them. Structured interviews were conducted with 65 HSUs and 15 CSPs in interior British Columbia, Canada. These interviews were audio-recorded, and the retrieved data were analyzed thematically. The three themes uncovered included: a lack of access to health care and risk of stigma, a lack of trust and fear of discrimination, and a need for community navigation and social support. The findings indicate that HSUs do not receive equitable care and face challenges in accessing appropriate and timely foot care, which contributes to increased foot-related emergency visits, loss of trust in the health care system, and disabilities due to worsening foot conditions. Various social determinants of health also impact HSUs, such as low socioeconomic status, lack of housing, decreased social support, unhealthy behaviors, and inequitable access to health services. By collaborating with HSUs, community and health services need to develop innovative outreach programs that provide better community resources as the first step toward equitable access to health care.

Background: Throughout pregnancy, women are at an increased risk of depression, with prevalence estimates between 6.5% and 18%. Global prevalence of antenatal antidepressant use is considerably lower at 3%. Objective: The present study determined the proportion of women taking antidepressants across pregnancy in New Zealand. We investigated whether variation exists across age bands, area-level deprivation and ethnicities, and identified how many women experienced unmedicated depression. Method: Antenatal data ( n = 6822) consisted of primarily third-trimester interviews conducted with mothers participating in Growing Up in New Zealand, a longitudinal study investigating child development. Women were asked about their antidepressant intake during pregnancy and assessed on antenatal depression symptoms using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale. Antidepressant use data were also compared to population-level data from Statistics New Zealand’s Integrated Data Infrastructure. Results: Antidepressant prevalence across pregnancy was 3.2%, with a 2.7% prevalence in trimester one and 2.6% following the first trimester. There was no significant difference in usage within age bands and area-level deprivation quintiles. Ethnicity-specific data revealed that Pasifika and Asian ethnicities had the lowest antidepressant use, and New Zealand Europeans the highest. The rate of unmedicated depression, where women met the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale criteria for significant depressive symptoms but did not receive antidepressants during pregnancy, was 11.8%, indicating that antenatal depression treatment may be inadequate. Greater rates of unmedicated depression were seen for younger women (⩽24 years), those living in high deprivation areas and mothers of Pasifika, Asian and Māori ethnicities. Conclusions: Antenatal antidepressant use in New Zealand follows global prevalence estimates and highlights possible undertreatment of antenatal depression in New Zealand. Future research including other treatment types (e.g. behavioural therapy) is needed to evaluate whether undertreatment occurs across all treatment options.

Global organisations have seen more leaders of Indian origin, both at the helm and in key business positions across the world than ever before. This article explores the underlying psychosocial qualities and leadership capabilities that Indians bring to global organisations through the lens of YSC’s leadership assessments. We drew from the expertise and experience of our seasoned consultants to evaluate emerging themes by analysing over 400 leaders and synthesising a profile of the typical Indian leader. We explored in-depth the journeys of 44 of these leaders to understand what differentiates them to thrive in global environments and the challenges they navigate through to lead in the global arena. We drew on the tensions they navigate while managing the dynamics of global, matrixed organisations and offer recommendations to successfully traverse towards success. We highlight the implications and provide suggestions for global organisations to understand Indian talent and create the conditions for them to unlock their potential.

There is scarce research evidence of restorative justice being used in the context of serious and organised crime offending. This study sought to explore the feasibility of using restorative justice by canvassing the views of experts, serious and organised crime offenders and serious and organised crime victims in England. Offenders and victims were given the opportunity to engage in a restorative justice initiative and individual cases were pursued accordingly as a series of case studies. Case studies were limited to large-scale serious and organised fraud. Stark differences in views were apparent between serious and organised crime experts and restorative justice experts, the former doubting offenders’ motivations and pointing to their dangerousness without fully considering victim perspectives. Despite high attrition rates among some offenders expressing an initial willingness to pursue restorative justice, where both parties wished to participate, sustained motivation was observed. This study highlights inequities in the way that police forces have implemented the 2015 Victims Code requirements for restorative justice in England and Wales, potentially blocking opportunities for closure, social integration and reduced reoffending.

The policy responses to Covid-19 have triggered large-scale reverse migration from cities to rural areas in developing countries, exposing the vulnerability of migrants living precarious lives in cities, giving rise to debates asserting to migration as undesirable and favouring policy options to discourage the process. However, the very basis of spatial concentration and formation of cities is presence of agglomeration economies, benefits accruing to economic agents operating in cities. Presence of these agglomeration benefits in local labour markets manifests themselves in the form of an upward sloping wage curve in urban areas. We estimate the upward sloping wage curve for various size classes of cities in Indian economy and establish the presence of positive returns to occupation and industry concentration at urban locations. Controlling for worker-specific characteristics influencing wages, we establish that higher the share of an industry or an occupation in local employment as compared to national economy, the desirability of firms to pay higher wages increases. For casual labourers, occupational concentration results in higher wages. However, impact of industry concentration varies across sectors. Results supporting presence of upward sloping urban wage curve, therefore, endorse policies to correct the market failure in cities and promote migration as a desirable process. Non-pneumatic tyres (NPT) provide a greater advantage over the pneumatic type owing to their construct which increases the reliability of the tyre operation and effectively reduces maintenance involved. Analysing the aerodynamic forces acting on a NPT becomes a crucial factor in understanding it’s suitability for practical implementation. In the present work, the aerodynamic performance of a NPT using CFD tool – SimScale® is studied. This work includes a comparative study of a pneumatic tyre, a NPT with wedge spokes and a NPT with hexagonal spokes (NPT-HS). The effect of air velocity, steering (yaw) angle and camber angle on the aerodynamic performance of the NPT-HS is evaluated using CFD. By increasing the steering angle from 0° to 15°, the lift coefficient decreases by 37% approximately at all velocities. Whereas drag coefficient initially decreases by 21% till 7.5° steering angle and then starts increasing. Increasing camber angle from 0° to 1.5°, both drag and lift coefficients goes on decreasing by approximately 7% and 27% respectively.

Background: Perinatal anxiety affects the antenatal woman, the growing fetus, and the newborn. This systematic review evaluated the effect of listening to music on perinatal anxiety among pregnant women and on newborn behaviors. No available reviews focus on interventions that include only classical forms of music or its benefit on perinatal anxiety among low-risk pregnant women or on newborn behaviors. Methods: We included peer-reviewed primary research studies on the effect of music on perinatal anxiety, published in English, between January 2010 and August 2022. PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and ProQuest were searched using specific keywords, resulting in 225 studies for screening by title, abstract, and full text. Two independent reviewers screened them and assessed the quality of the included randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using Cochrane’s Risk of Bias 2.0 tool (RoB2) and non-randomized controlled trial studies using the Joanna Briggs Institute Critical Appraisal tool. Due to the heterogeneity of outcome measures, the review’s findings were summarized qualitatively. Results: Nine studies with 1646 pregnant women and one with 260 pregnant women and their neonates were included. Results of all studies suggest that listening to classical music reduces the anxiety levels among pregnant women, as measured by the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Only one study reported the beneficial effect of antenatal exposure to music on improving newborn behaviors like orientation (ES 1.13, 95% CI: 0.82–1.44, P < 0.0001) and habituation (ES 1.05, 95% CI: 0.53–1.57, P = 0.0001). The risk of bias was unclear in most of the studies. Conclusions: Listening to classical music during the perinatal period may be an effective non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety and pain and improving sleep quality and newborn behaviors. There is a need to conduct further interventional studies on the types of music provided and their effects on perinatal health outcomes. Registration of the Protocol: The review was prospectively registered in PROSPERO 2021 CRD42021256806.
