Abstract

The emergence of the film industry in United States between 1893 and 1920 and its contribution to the growing literature linking legal environments and population dynamics is discussed. It is revealed that the learning and the compensatory fitness enjoyed before anti-trust law prevented the Motion Pictures Patents Corporation (MPPC) from recognizing changes in the marketplace.
