The aim of the current study was to systematically review and quantify the findings of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the effect of fermented soy products on anthropometric indices, body composition, and metabolic outcomes. PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched to identify the relevant articles from inception until March 2024. The weighted mean differences (WMD) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CI) were calculated as effect sizes and analyzed using the random-effects method. A total of 2205 records were found, of which 15 RCTs were eligible. Results demonstrated significant beneficial effects of fermented soy on body mass index (WMD = -0.14 kg m -2 , 95% CI: -0.28, -0.01, P = 0.039), waist circumference (WMD = -1.50 cm, 95% CI: -2.94, -0.07, P = 0.04), visceral fat (WMD = -692.17 mm 2 , 95% CI: -1011.58, -372.77, P < 0.001), fasting plasma glucose (WMD = -6.39 mg dL -1 , 95% CI: -10.38, -2.40, P = 0.002), and total cholesterol (WMD = -5.0 mg dL -1 , 95% CI: -6.60, -3.39, P < 0.001) compared with controls. However, the responses of other parameters to fermented soy were not significant. Overall, fermented soy may confer health benefits on certain metabolic outcomes, anthropometric indices, and body composition.

The physics of micron-scale biological colonies usually benefits from different out-of-equilibrium sources. In bacterial colonies and cellular tissues, the growth process is among the important active sources that determine the dynamics. In this article, we study the generic dynamical instabilities associated with the growth phenomena that may arise in both scalar and vectorial systems. In vectorial systems, where the rotational degrees of particles play a role, a phenomenological growth-mediated torque can affect the rotational dynamics of individual particles. We show that such a growth-mediated torque can result in active traveling waves in the bulk of a growing system. In addition to the bulk properties, we analyze the instabilities in the shape of growing interfaces in both scalar and vectorial systems.

The characterization of catalytic oxide surfaces is often done by studying the properties of adsorbed probe molecules. The 31 P NMR chemical shift of adsorbed trimethylphosphine, P(CH 3 ) 3 or TMP, has been used to identify the presence of different facets in oxide nanocrystals and to study the acid-base properties of the adsorption sites. The NMR studies are often complemented by DFT calculations to provide additional information on TMP adsorption mode, bond strength, etc. So far, however, no systematic study has been undertaken in order to compare on the same footing the chemical shifts and the adsorption properties of TMP on different oxide surfaces. In this work we report the results of DFT+D (D = dispersion) calculations on the adsorption of TMP on the following oxide surfaces: anatase TiO 2 (101) and (001), rutile TiO 2 (110), tetragonal ZrO 2 (101), stepped ZrO 2 (134) and (145) surfaces, rutile SnO 2 (110), (101) and (100), wurtzite ZnO(101̄0), and cubic CeO 2 (111) and (110). Beside the stoichiometric surfaces, also reduced oxides have been considered creating O vacancies in various sites. TMP has been adsorbed on top of variously coordinated Lewis acid cation sites, with the aim to identify, also with the support of machine learning algorithms, trends or patterns that can help to correlate the 31 P chemical shift with physico-chemical properties of the oxide surfaces such as adsorption energy, Bader charges, cation-P distance, work function, etc. Some simple correlation can be found within the same oxide between the 31 P chemical shift and the adsorption energy, while when the full set of data is considered the only correlation found is with the net charge on the TMP molecule, a descriptor of the acid strength of the adsorption site.

The new palladacyclopropa[60]fullerene complexes incorporating α-keto stabilized phosphorus ylides were synthesized in a three-component reaction of the unsymmetrical phosphorus ylides [Ph2P(CH2)nPPh2[double bond, length as m-dash]C(H)C(O)C6H4-m-R] (n = 1, R = Br, NO2, (Y(1), Y(2)); n = 2, R = Br, NO2, (Y(3), Y(4))), C60 and Pd(dba)2 (dba = dibenzylideneacetone). The obtained novel P,C-chelated [(η(2)-C60)Pd(κ(2)-Y(1))] (1) and [(η(2)-C60)Pd(κ(2)-Y(2))] (2) complexes and P,P-coordinated [(η(2)-C60)Pd(Y(3))2] (3) and [(η(2)-C60)Pd(Y(4))2] (4) complexes were characterized successfully by IR, UV-Vis, ESI-MS and NMR ((1)H, (13)C and (31)P) spectroscopic methods. Complexes 1-4 are rare examples of palladacyclopropa[60]fullerene complexes with phosphorus ylide ligands. Spectroscopic results revealed that none of possible side products including P,P-coordinated [(η(2)-C60)Pd(Y(1))2] and [(η(2)-C60)Pd(Y(2))2] complexes and also P,C-chelated [(η(2)-C60)Pd(κ(2)-Y(3))] and [(η(2)-C60)Pd(κ(2)-Y(4))] complexes are formed. The EDA analysis indicated that in all the above complexes the metal-ligand bonds are mostly electrostatic in nature.
