In this article, the author arguments on a study titled "Dreaming the session.". Topics discussed include mechanisms of change in the psychoanalytical therapy, changes generated by psychoanalysis in the patient's life, and how psychoanalysis can be used as a therapeutic practice and method of knowledge.

In this paper I will explore what is that happens when a patient lies down on a couch and a Psychoanalyst sits behind. What does it mean if we say the patient then associates freely and the analyst listens to and then occasionally talks to the patient about the patient? I want to revisit the fundamental concepts of free association, resistance, transference, countertransference and enactment to discuss why it may be useful to say that the patient and the psychoanalyst dream the session and what this means.
