Business educators are paying more attention to international business protocol. They agree that cultural differences in doing business should be evaluated more closely to provide an edge in a global economy.

Canada's domestic nontariff trade barriers amount to 0. 5% to 1% of the GDP. The Canadian Manufacturers' Association estimates this amount to be $6 billion annually. The trade barries inhibit the attainment of economies of scale in dwindling markets and prevent small companies from expanding.
