This paper highlights an experience that shed light on how the translanguage pedagogy worked as a beneficial tool of teaching English language in the Amazon, according to the participants of this study. The experience took place in a discipline, in which the future teachers discussed not only the particularities shown in the English language structure, but also became involved a new way of thinking the language. Through oral and narrative practices, it was identified that the participants translanguaging in order to negotiate languages and cultures in a way to appropriate them. It was observed in the linguistic repertoire of the participants, that there was a presence of an "Amazonian identity", when expressing themselves in their additional language, which was interpreted as a way of building a dialogue with the local life.
