Being an application oriented local university, Chengdu University is also a city comprehensive university with distinctive schooling features. It is based on the joint effort of provincial and municipal governments that allows it to cultivate high quality practical talents. In 2015, the university has founded Zhang Lan Honors College, which is a base of talents training, the practice of teaching reform and the experiment of teaching management, in order to explore the reform as well as the practice of the cultivation of outstanding innovative talents. By building up a mode of talents training featured by high-quality student sources, a strict elimination system, eminent faculty, general education curriculum, research-type teaching, honor system, etc., the college has made a way for local universities in exploring the education of top innovative talents.
