Objective: To explore the effects of Baduanjin combined with resistance exercise on glucose and lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and quality of life in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods: 238 cases of elderly patients with T2DM who were treated in our hospital from April 2021 to May 2022 were selected. According to the method of random number table, they were divided into the control group (on the basis of conventional treatment, they received resistance exercise intervention, 119 cases) and the combined group (on the basis of the control group, they received Baduanjin intervention, 119 cases). The improvement of glucose and lipid metabolism, oxidative stress and quality of life in the two groups were observed. Results: 12 weeks after intervention, body mass index and waist hip ratio in the combined group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). 12 weeks after intervention, fasting blood glucose (FBG), 2 h postprandial blood glucose (2hPG) and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc) in the combined group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). 12 weeks after intervention, high- density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in the combined group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05), while low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), and triglyceride (TG) were lower than those in the control group. 12 weeks after intervention, malondialdehyde (MDA) in the combined group was lower than that in the control group, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). 12 weeks after intervention, the scores of all dimensions of the MOS 36-item short-form health survey (SF-36) in the combined group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Baduanjin combined with resistance exercise in elderly patients with T2DM can effectively improve the oxidative stress, glucose and lipid metabolism, and improve the quality of life of patients.
