Abstract

Chapter 4 of the book "The False Promises of Constructivist Theories of Learning: A Global and Ecological Critique," by C. A. Bowers is presented. It challenges the constructivist's faith on a student's ability to decide for himself and practice individual freedom. It opposes constructivism's theory by citing the destructive impact it has on commons. The learning methods of indigenous Quechua and Aymara children of Peru and the difficulties of converting to constructivism in classrooms are also highlighted.
