Abstract

Coronavirus pandemic has led to the accumulation of substantial evidence about the arrhythmogenic potential of COVID-19. Arrhythmias in COVID-19 develop more frequently in severely and critically ill patients. Hypoxia, direct or indirect myocardial injury as well as the role of immune response to the virus are among the possible mechanisms of arrhythmia. Although management of these arrhythmias during the pandemic does not differ signifi cantly from the currently accepted standard of care, the potential for drug interactions and the impact of some antiviral medications on the QTc interval should be taken into consideration. The current review aims to summarize the available evidence and provide practical guidance on the management of arrhythmia patients with COVID-19.
