This article aims to compare the pattern of responses obtained by a web-based and a paper-based survey used to investigate the transit safety of travellers in railway stations in Sweden. This aim is achieved by evaluating whether the response and the completion rates change as the surveys progress, assessing the effect of the survey mode on respondents' answers (after controlling for the surveys' internal consistency and differences in the samples), and the potential impact of the order of alternatives in multiple-choice questions on the responses. To carry out the study, a sample of 500 responses was taken from each population and later compared using a series of statistical tests. Findings indicate that despite the surveys' high internal consistency, the prevalence of victimisation, fear of crime, and precautions detected in the web survey was higher than those found in the paper survey. The web survey shows a major drop just after the initial questions, while the paper survey shows a more stable pattern of responses, but was also affected by a single compulsory question that pushed the completion rate down. Finally, the order of alternatives in multiple-choice questions (fixed or random) did not affect the answers given by the respondents, providing a solid base for safety interventions in transit environments, regardless of survey mode. Why does the cross-disciplinary field of "development studies" have relatively low "journal impact indicators" in comparison with other mono-disciplinary fields of study? We argue that a reasonable explanation is the existence of a "paper drain" phenomenon: a certain proportion of the papers dealing with development is eventually published in journals that are assigned to other (non-development) fields. We conceptualize the paper drain phenomenon and empirically estimate its size for the field of development studies. Running an algorithmic procedure on the Scopus database, we identify six "key development issues" and estimate that the subject category of "development" is approximately publishing 28% of the papers dealings with these issues within the Social Sciences. The remaining 72% are "draining" to other (non-development) categories. We offer some recommendations in order to rise the scientific impact (and influence) of development studies, such as increasing the number of journals covered by the impact indicators. This paper investigates carbon and energy mix risk in the equity prices of EU-Taxonomy orientated and renewable European electric utility companies. We calculate carbon intensity and energy mix factors to measure possible carbon and energy mix premia while investigating the performance of portfolios of EU-Taxonomy orientated and renewable European electric utilities. We use a unique dataset to extend the three-factor model presented by Fama and French (1993) and find evidence of a positive renewable energy mix premium for portfolios of EU-Taxonomy orientated firms and firms with a high level of renewable energy in the energy mix. A positive low-carbon premium is also found for these same portfolios. Lastly, based on the three-factor model, an EU-Taxonomy orientated portfolio outperforms both a non-orientated portfolio and a non-reporting portfolio while a renewable energy portfolio outperforms a conventional energy portfolio. The concept of repression has been relegated to the periphery in current psychoanalytic theorizing. This is in part due to a reflexive and ill-informed avoidance of Freudian metapsychology, and in part due to preoccupation with 'primitive' and 'deeper' states of mind, a perspective that presumes that repression operates exclusively in 'higher level' or 'neurotic' forms of psychopathology. A careful scrutiny of psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice does not uphold such compartmentalization. Repression is ubiquitous in mental life. It contributes to normality (e.g., onset of latency), undergirds the 'psychopathology of everyday life' (e.g., parapraxes), exists alongside splitting in severe character disorders (e.g., borderline patients "forgetting" their appointments) and, by permitting a modified return of exiled mental contents, gives birth to neurotic symptoms as well as creative imagination. Taking Freud's seminal discourse on repression (in: Repression. Standard Edition, vol 14. Hogarth, London, pp 141–158 1915a) as its starting point, this paper elucidates the complex, nuanced, and pervasive nature of this defense. It deconstructs Freud's unitary concept of repression into four implicit binaries and updates his proposals in the light of contemporary psychoanalytic theory. This article synthesizes some results of the author's Ph.D. thesis, an ethnography about Brazilian adults who lived without papers until the moment they sought their birth certificates, which were being offered as a free public service in downtown Rio de Janeiro. In a dialogue with the concept of the 'margins of the state' (Das and Poole in Anthropology in the margins of the state, School of American Research, New Mexico, 2004), the article shows how undocumented people disregard themselves as subjects and analyzes the birth certificate as an institutional rite (Bourdieu in A economia das trocas linguísticas, Edusp, São Paulo, 1996), demonstrating that the search for papers is also for rights and citizenship. Democratic erosion in the EU's Central and Eastern European (CEE) member states has confounded EU policy-makers. In this paper, we investigate the assumptions behind the climate of optimism about CEE democratization that prevailed in EU decision-making before and after the 5th and 6th enlargements, and the extent to which political science participated in this intellectual climate. Based on a qualitative analysis of EU decision-making in the early twenty-first century and a quantitative analysis of 500 randomly sampled papers published between 2000 and 2015, we find that both policy makers and the most influential research in political science shared a bias towards optimism structured by common assumptions: A procedural understanding of democracy, a rational institutionalist belief in the EU's capacity to bring these procedures about with the use of incentives and the related assumption that sociocultural dimensions of democracy would eventually follow institutions. We argue that these common assumptions help to explain both the EU's failure to pre-empt and respond proportionately to democratic erosion, and the failure of our discipline to check that optimism. This study describes a key feature of modern, democratic policy making, namely the relation between stakeholder input and policy output. In the Nordic countries, there are long traditions for and democratic values attached to the dialogue between the government and civil society when developing policies for the educational sector. The case presented here is the hearing process held by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research in 2017 prior to the launch of a white paper on quality culture in higher education. The potential coherence between input by stakeholder groups and the quality measures proposed in the white paper is investigated. The theoretical framework comprises the concept of 'uploading' borrowed from research on EU policy making and discursive institutionalism to analyse the representation of input by stakeholder groups when they attempt to 'upload' their priorities into the white paper. The methodological approach is content analysis of the hearing responses and the white paper. The findings show that stakeholders from the higher education sector and employer groups had a higher degree of coherence with the proposed measures in the white paper, and universities and colleges had a lower degree of input that was represented. Momentum-based strategies are widely used by asset managers and have attracted considerable research interest. This paper studies industry momentum from the perspective of correlation consolidation, which consolidates industries according to the correlation coefficient of their historical returns and assesses momentum effects after the consolidation. Studying all Chinese stocks listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share market with a sample range from June 1, 2007, to December 31, 2020, empirical results show that monthly returns of the industry momentum and Sharpe ratio after the correlation consolidation both increase. The optimal method for consolidating industries is to use the correlation coefficient of 0.75, which increases the Sharpe ratio from 0.71 before the correlation consolidation to 1.16. This article presents a paper on the policy and informal communications in applied science and technology. To promote progress in science and technology, efficiency of information transfer should be improved, costs of information should be reduced and the timeliness of information available to scientist and technologist should be improved. Many policy makers have developed doubts about fostering informal communication, for reasons which illuminate the requirements of a sound informal communication policy. A theme which has increasingly characterized research on scientific communication is that science is a social process involving communities of similarly-interested people.

This study highlights the latest trends in the literature on the relationship between FinTech and sustainability by applying a bibliometric review of documents published in the Scopus database. Bibliometric analysis is a quantitative method that allows researchers to highlight core foundations and recent trends in a specific research field. This analysis was based on trend, evolution, bibliometrics, mapping, and qualitative content analyses. Based on a bibliometric review of 59 papers retrieved from the Scopus database, this study explores the most frequent keywords; the most influential authors, organizations, and countries; the most cited papers; the most co-cited reference papers; and sources. Evolution analysis was conducted using CiteSpace; bibliometric and mapping analyses were performed using VOSviewer; and content analysis was performed using WordStat. The results identified three major clusters: sustainability performance, blockchain technology, and digital transformation. Additionally, the results reveal that the analysis of the association between FinTech and sustainability has experienced increasingly important growth in 2021, reflecting the importance of financial technologies and innovations in business. The findings of this study have implications for Fintech and sustainability research and highlight the importance of Fintech in the development and execution of sustainability strategies and practices, as well as the most relevant research methods. This study provides an overview of how the literature on the association between FinTech and sustainability has developed, as well as a summary of the most influential authors along with countries, organizations, and journal sources. This study aims to identify the current trends in the literature on marine insurance by applying a bibliometric review of documents published in the Scopus database. This analysis was based on the most cited papers, most influential authors, countries, and organizations, as well as the most frequent keywords. In addition, qualitative content analysis was conducted. It reviewed 293 documents on marine insurance. Bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer, and qualitative content analysis was performed using WordStat. The results identify three major clusters: (1) risk assessment, (2) marine insurance, and (3) the insurance industry. This paper also presents recommendations for future research in this field. The findings of this study have implications for marine insurance, such as new developments to be implemented in the insurance industry to enhance its efficiency. This study is the first to review marine insurance publications that can be largely used for insurance practices. This study provides an overview of how the literature on marine insurance research has developed, as well as a summary of the most influential authors, along with countries, organizations, and journal sources. Improving reliability is increasingly regarded as an important topic in maritime transportation, especially given the significant impact that both uncertainty and delays in shipping and at ports have on the efficient flow of freight along wider supply chains. The term 'reliability' appears in different academic fields and with a variety of different meanings and interpretations. In transportation, reliability has been studied in most modes, but less so in the case of maritime containerisation. This paper reports on a systematic literature review of the concept of reliability in transportation, with a focus on reliability in container shipping networks. The selected papers were analysed to extract information according to the three identified sub-networks: (1) ports, including studies with a focus on infrastructure, service availability and risks in ports and hinterlands; (2) network structures, including the configuration of the networks, the vulnerability and resilience of the existing networks; (3) supply chains, including connectivity and planning of activities that integrate stakeholders within the supply chain. These sub-networks were then used to further query the database, searching for papers relevant to the research problem. Two research questions are addressed: (1) How is reliability best understood in the context of container shipping networks? (2) What are the determinants that affect container shipping network reliability? The review showed that there is no uniform definition of reliability in container shipping networks, but different approaches to understand it, depending on the theoretical perspective, have been adopted. Influencing factors and relevant metrics are discussed and a framework combining different dimensions of reliability, expressed as three themes, i.e., infrastructure reliability, network configuration reliability, and connectivity reliability, is developed. This can help both practitioners and researchers to understand in more detail the various dimensions and nuances of reliability specifically in the context of container shipping, its interrelationship with wider logistics systems and how, where possible, reliability can be improved. In this article, I investigate the extent to which ISI Web of Science indexing contributes to the impact of an academic paper. I do this by analysing the results of a natural experiment consisting in the accidental exclusion from the index of an entire issue of a Political Science journal. The statistical tests indicate a significant effect of ISI indexing on the number of citations received by individual papers. The conclusion is that ISI indexing does not simply provide an objective measure of academic impact, but it also affects academic impact itself. This fact provides evidence that, in spite of the increasing competition from other providers such as Scopus or Google Scholar, ISI indexing still has a considerable amount of market power. The additional wheat and rice is a worthy achievement, which has been personalized by a Nobel Peace Prize. The soft phrase, "Green Revolution," is suddenly popular even among hard-headed scientists. But similar large gains in agricultural production in particular countries have been achieved since the ninety forties. Thus the big change that has occurred in seeing and believing that agricultural production possibilities can be transformed from niggardliness to abundance. The present paper rehearses arguments for comparative criminological research and identifies the administrative processes of journals leading to acceptance or rejection role of language as a contributory factor acting against the interests of those lacking fluency in a journal's specified language of submission. We examined the relationship between the tobacco industry and the journal Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology (RTP) using the Truth Tobacco Industry Documents Library and internet sources. We determined the funding relationships, and categorised the conclusions of all 52 RTP papers on tobacco or nicotine between January 2013 and June 2015, as "positive", "negative" or "neutral" for the tobacco industry. RTP's editor, 57% (4/7) of associate editors and 37% (14/38) of editorial board members had worked or consulted for tobacco companies. Almost all (96%, 50/52) of the papers had authors with tobacco industry ties. Seventy-six percent (38/50) of these papers drew conclusions positive for industry; none drew negative conclusions. The two papers by authors not related to the tobacco industry reached conclusions negative to the industry (p < .001). These results call into question the confidence that members of the scientific community and tobacco product regulators worldwide can have in the conclusions of papers published in RTP. Political scientists often need to evaluate whether samples are comparable, for example, when analysing different countries or time points or when comparing data collected using different methods. A necessary condition for conducting such meaningful cross-group comparisons is the establishment of measurement invariance. One of the most frequently used procedures for establishing measurement invariance is the multigroup confirmatory factor analysis. This method was criticised in the literature because it may suggest that a model fits the data although it may contain serious misspecifications. We present an alternative method to test for measurement invariance using detection of local misspecifications and illustrate its use on two data sets assessing value priorities that are often analysed in political science and collected using paper-and-pencil and web modes of data collection. This article studies sin stocks on the European market over the period 2006–2020. In addition to stocks in alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and defense sectors that are traditionally considered sin stocks, we analyze stocks in carbon-intensive sectors that have newly evolved as sin stocks, such as oil and gas, metals and mining, uranium, and coal. To investigate the return performance of sin stocks, we run time-series regressions with factor models and Fama–MacBeth cross-sectional regressions. Our results suggest that there is no robust sin premium for new sin stocks or traditional sin stocks, either in comparison with the market or their peer stocks. Our analysis on ownership characteristics shows that investors in sin stocks are mainly investment managers, corporations, and individuals. While new sin stocks are popular among institutional investors, traditional sin stocks are less held by norm-constrained investors. For the past 50 years, state and local governments in North America heavily subsidized the construction of professional sports facilities despite the fact that only private activity takes place in these facilities. Proponents of these subsidies frequently claim that they are justified because they represent viable local economic development projects. A proponents claim a new facility will "pay for itself" by generating large tangible economic benefits, including increases in tax revenues. This paper summarizes the existing literature that contains no evidence supporting these claims, along with a new literature containing evidence that professional sports events cause a number of negative urban congestion externalities like increased crime and traffic. This paper seeks to explain Australia's reaction to Russia's invasion of Ukraine and how it has affected Australia's strategic decisions in responding to Chinese aggression in the Indo-Pacific. Canberra's responses are consistent with the 'dependent ally' and the 'middle power' traditions in Australian foreign policy. The paper argues that these responses are framed by assessments that a competition and struggle between a democratic and authoritarian bloc is occurring; authoritarian values and approaches are key causes of instability and disruption to the post-World War II liberal rules-based order; and should Moscow achieve its objectives in Ukraine and beyond, there is an increased possibility that Beijing will be tempted to use similar coercive measures against Taiwan and other nations. Canberra is consequently putting even more emphasis on the US-Australia alliance, and groupings such as AUKUS and the Quad as central to collective democratic action to constrain and deter contrary authoritarian behaviours in the Indo- Pacific. The paper conducts a comprehensive review based on the topic of experience in financial services. The paper presents the evolution and structure on the topic. A bibliometric analysis of literature is performed around the key components using Bibliometrix of R package and VOSviewer. The analysis is based on 137 articles, which are published in 73 leading journals between the years 1985 to 2021. Using the dimensions database, research articles on experience in financial services are extracted and analysed to uncover this topic's intellectual development and key themes through a mixed-methods approach of quantitative bibliometric and qualitative content analyses. More specifically, descriptive statistics, Lotka's law, co-occurrence networks, thematic maps, and bibliometric coupling are used for the analysis. The bibliometric analysis facilitates technical examination and visualization of the scholarly financial service experience research. Based on grounded theory, content analysis is successively conducted to establish theoretical building blocks of financial service experience, providing a conceptual model of this concept. Using bibliometric coupling, nine significant clusters are identified: experience and related constructs, experience in the digital and social media era, experience and quality, experience and customer journey, brand and digital financial services experience, experience and financial institutions, experience and employees, experience and financial literacy, and customer experience management. The study employs more updated and relevant analysis techniques and provides a critical review of the topic. The bibliometric analysis enabled scientific investigation and visualization of the scholarly financial services experience literature providing a holistic understanding of the concept, illustrated topic's scholarly evolution, and revealed key directions for future research. The sense of agency, our felt sense of authorship for our actions, is a difficult concept to define, yet its faltering stands at the heart of psychopathology. Historically undertheorized by psychoanalysis and typically positioned opposite relatedness by clinical psychology, Jeremy Safran conceived of agency and relatedness as paradoxically related. This paper pays tribute to Safran's ideas by taking his writings on agency as a starting point to elaborate how agency forms, and goes awry, in the relational crucible of early life. In doing so, the paper draws on the developmental theory of Winnicott, empirical research on embodied agency from adjacent fields of study, and Safran's clinical phenomenology. In this paper, we revisit the Canadian experience with floating exchange rates since 1950. Canada was a pioneer in successfully adopting a floating exchange rate during the Bretton Woods pegged exchange rate regime. Since then, most advanced countries have followed the Canadian example. A key finding of our paper based on historical narrative and econometric analysis is that economic performance under floating depended on its monetary policy performance as Milton Friedman originally argued in his seminal 1953 article making the case for floating exchange rates. Canadian monetary policy achieved low and stable inflation once it adopted inflation targeting as a nominal anchor. Also, Canada's floating exchange rate provided it with a modicum of insulation from external shocks, especially commodity price shocks that influenced both the level and volatility of the real exchange rate over the past three decades. The Canadian experience with floating (along with that of other small open economies such as Australia, New Zealand and Sweden) combined with inflation targeting became a global model for sound monetary policy. Economic literature suggests that banks change their dividend payouts for three main reasons. They may be willing to signal good future profitability to shareholders to address information asymmetry, or use dividends to mitigate the agency costs, or could come under pressure from prudential supervisors and regulators to retain earnings. The COVID-19 pandemic led to introduction of sector-wide recommendation by regulators to suspend dividend payouts in view of prevailing large uncertainty. Using a panel data approach for two samples of listed and unlisted European banks, this paper provides evidence that, over a decade and a half preceding the pandemic, bank dividend payouts were adjusted in line with the three motivations found in the literature. The results are robust to selection of alternative variables representing these motivations. Banks are however found not to discount expectations about future economic conditions or their own profitability when making payouts. Simulations shown in the paper suggest that, in the absence of supervisory recommendations, banks would likely have reduced the payouts only slightly in the first year of the pandemic.
