Dear Editor, Recently, during the development of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, several publications have warned of possible cutaneous manifestations in association with this novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). Overall, 20 (38%) patients had a positive COVID-19 test and the remaining patients had symptoms suggestive of COVID-19. Unexpectedly, 12 of 53 patients presented IgM serology and/or seroconversion to IgG of HHV-6; the other 41 patients were negative for IgM of HHV-6. [Extracted from the article]

The article discusses clinical, histological and immunohistochemical markers of resistance to methyl aminolaevulinate photodynamic therapy in Bowen disease. It mentions nonresponder tumors showed histology compatible with invasive squamous cell carcinoma after Methyl aminolaevulinate (MAL) photodynamic therapy (PDT). It also mentions lower mitotic index and reduced p53 expression and proliferative capacity compared with A-431 cells.

Perforating dermatoses are characterized by transepithelial elimination of dermal structures. We report a 61-year-old man with rheumatoid arthritis who developed a perforating folliculitis following the administration of two tumour necrosis factor (TNF)- α inhibitors, infliximab and etanercept. To our knowledge, no perforating disorders have been reported associated with these drugs. This report suggests, for the first time, a role for TNF- α in the pathogenesis of perforating folliculitis. Tinea capitis is the most common type of dermatophytosis in children, but is uncommon in the first year of life.To review clinical, mycological and epidemiological data in a series of 10 infants aged under 1 year diagnosed as having tinea capitis in three Spanish hospitals between 1998 and 2002.A retrospective case note study.There were six boys and four girls with a mean of age 7 months (range 1·5–12). All the children were born in Spain, but in five cases the parents were immigrants from Africa. In these cases the isolated dermatophytes were twoTrichophyton tonsurans, oneT. verrucosumand twoMicrosporum audouinii. Four autochthonous cases were caused byM. canisand one byM. audouinii(but this one was in contact with African immigrants). In two of the five cases produced by anthropophilic dermatophytes other family members were infected by the same fungus. Most cases were treated successfully with griseofulvin.Although tinea capitis is rare in infants in their first year of life, the condition should be investigated if scaling and/or alopecia are present.
