We find that dissipation can be utilized as a resource to enhance optomechanically induced transparency in the unresolved sideband regime. This positive effect of dissipation holds potential for applications including high-precision measurements and slow light.

We demonstrate strong anharmonicity of the polariton dressed states in a highly dissipative cavity quantum electrodynamics system via dark state resonances. Vacuum Rabi oscillation and photon blockade occur even for decay-to-interaction rate ratio exceeding 100.

In the strong coupled cavity optomechanics, we find the island structure in the temporal evolution map of mean phonon number. Analytical results are provided to obtain the optimal cooling limits with the frequency matching condition.

We propose uniquely dynamically-modulated dissipative cooling scheme in strong optomechanical coupling, which significantly enhances the cooling process. This overcomes quantum backaction and instantaneous phonon occupations below the steady-state cooling limit can be achieved.

We study the Rayleigh scattering induced by a diamond nanocrystal in a whispering-gallery-microcavity-waveguide coupling system, and find that it plays a significant role in the photon transportation. On one hand, this study provides a new insight into future solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics toward strong coupling physics. On the other hand, benefitting from this Rayleigh scattering, novel photon transportation such as dipole induced transparency and strong photon antibunching can occur simultaneously. As potential applications, this system can function as high-efficiency photon turnstiles. In contrast to [B. Dayan et al., Science 319,1062 (2008)], the photon turnstiles proposed here are highly immune to nanocrystal's azimuthal position.

We observe Fano resonance in a single microresonator, in which two modes are excited simultaneously through a fiber taper. Our analysis reveals that the Fano resonance originates from an indirect-coupling of two originally orthogonal modes.
