Abstract

An imaging transmission-grating-modulated pump-probe spectroscopy is developed and used to study ultrafast diffusion dynamics of mono- and few-layer graphene. A big diffusion coefficient for monolayer graphene, over 10,000 cm2/s, is observed.

Abstract

We report the design, simulation and experimental demonstration of low loss subwavelength grating waveguide (SWG) bends. With trapezoidal shape silicon pillars, the average insertion loss of a 5μm SWG waveguide bend is reduced drastically from 5.43 dB to 1.10 dB per 90° bend for quasi-TE polarization.

Abstract

We investigate energy transfer processes during ultrafast laser-matter interactions. We show that when coherent phonons are generated by ultrafast laser pulses, additional energy transfer pathways exist which can influence energy transfer and phase change.
