Abstract

We present our recent progress in developing a two-photon lensless endoscope based on ultrathin multicore fiber and wavefront shaping. We discuss the field-of-view extension, intrinsic group delay compensation and bending compensation in such devices with the aim of imaging the deep brain with minimal invasion.

Abstract

Coherent beam combining of 7 erbium-doped cores of a multicore fiber amplifier is demonstrated. Diffractive optical element is used to spatially combine output beams. 45% combination efficiency is achieved using stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithm.

Abstract

We present a fully integrated MOPA at 1053 nm designed to meet stringent requirements of large-scale laser facilities front-end. We achieve 100 μJ temporally-shaped pulses of few nanoseconds at 10 kHz with coherent top-hat beam output profile.

Abstract

Solid-Core Photonic BandGap Fibers (SC-PBGF) are interesting candidates for high power delivery and laser/amplifier fiber applications due to their specific guiding properties. For example, mode diameters as large as 36 μm can be obtained in a flexible Yb3+ -doped SC-PBGF with bending radius as small as 10 cm. In addition to specific fiber designs, large diameter pure-silica Yb3+ -doped monoliths are used as raw material for the active core, enabling a reduced refractive index increase as compared to silica. Recent advances will be discussed during this talk.

Abstract

A double clad Yb-doped photonic bandgap fiber with Sol-Gel -made core is tested in laser regime. A hetero-structured cladding is used to induce high losses for higher order modes. MFD of 36 μm is observed.

Pulse generation from single-section Fabry-Perot InAs/GaAs edge-emitting quantum dot lasers is reported at 1.3μm. Mode-locking performances of the devices are studied as function of injection current and optical spectrum shape.

We report the experimental demonstration of the modulation instability process in optical fibers with a periodic longitudinal evolution of dispersion. The process is characterized by the spontaneous growth of multiple sidebands through quasi-phase-matching.

We investigate experimentally the MI process in a dispersion oscillating fiber. An important number of unstable frequencies over 10 THz are generated that then lead to a new degree of freedom for tailoring nonlinear effects.
