In this work, filter paper-based SERS substrate was fabricated by soaking the filter paper with concentrated silver colloids, and the time-dependent silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) distribution on filter paper were characterized in detail. SERS spectra of seminal plasma over different soaking time were obtained to optimize the performance for potential application. Our results showed that a more uniform distribution of AgNPs on the surface of filter paper was achieved with the increase of soaking time, and optimum SERS spectra of seminal plasma can be achieved at 12h. Filter paper-based SERS substrate can provide a simple and powerful platform for sensitive and reproducible Raman analysis of seminal plasma as well as other kinds of human body fluids.

We devised innovative, adaptable, bioplasmonic paper-based devices (BPDs) that diagnose Zika infection in patient serum via optical quantification of the localized surface plasmon resonance shift due to binding of patient’s anti-ZIKV-Nonstructural protein-1 IgG and IgM. By means of metal organic framework (MOF) technology, these BPDs do not require refrigeration and are stable at ambient temperature for extended time allowing use in resource-limited settings.

The purpose of this study was to show the effectiveness of therapeutic drug level testing by Paper-based Surfaced Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (PSERS) for artificial lacrimal fluid. We have been used substrates which consist of a common filter paper and gold nano-rods. The targets were Phenobarbital (PB) which dissolved in artificial lacrimal fluid. We measured them using PSERS which the wavelength was 785nm, the power was 30mW. It was found that there were the strong peaks of PB at 997cm-1 and 1026cm-1 which corresponded with solid PB spectral peak for 1mM artificial lacrimal fluid. The results demonstrated the usefulness of this method. It is concluded that our method for therapeutic drug level testing is very efficient.
