Summary form only given. In recent years, organic materials, especially conjugated polymers, have attracted significant research attention due to their intrinsic emissive properties. Photoemission and spectral line-narrowing have been reported in solutions, leading to the demonstration of a laser based on a polymer dye, and in solid films. The threshold excitation pulse-energy for line-narrowing reported in those works was /spl sim/100 /spl mu/J. We have observed photoemission and spectral narrowing in an organic molecular salt styrylpyridinium cyanine dye (SPCD) for the first time. Spectral narrowing in the saturated solution of SPCD was achieved without incorporation of any external mirrors at a much lower threshold energy.
