Systematic reviews and meta-analyses about selective attention measured with eye-tracking methodologies have revealed that, in general, individuals with chronic pain do not show a different attentional pattern to pain-related information in comparison to free-pain individuals. However, in these reviews it has been found that both chronic pain and healthy individuals tend to fixate their attention first on pain stimuli compared to neutral ones, indicating that bias towards pain-related information is not specific to people with chronic pain (Chan et al., 2020; Jones et al., 2021). Within this context, other psychological variables (e.g. pain catastrophizing) may be moderating the attentional processing of this type of information. In relation to pain management, numerous research studies of pain have explored the effect of acceptance on different physical and psychological variables, founding that it is effective to improve the quality of life (Semeru & Halim, 2019) and well-being (Viane et al., 2003) in individuals with chronic low back pain. Acceptance has also shown to increase pain tolerance (Blacker et al., 2012; Liu et al., 2013; Wang et al., 2019) in healthy participants. Thus, the main aim of this study is to analyze attentional biases towards pain-related stimuli (i.e., pain faces) in participants without pain during the experimental induction of a sustained pain condition. Secondly, the effectiveness of acceptance-based instructions will be compared to distraction-based instructions to reduce attentional biases towards pain-related stimuli and increasepain tolerance. Finally, this study also explores the moderating role of some selected self-reportedcognitive biases (e.g., pain catastrophizing, fear of pain, pain vigilance) in the attentional processing of emotional stimuli. To explore the relationship between attentional biases and pain and how this is moderated by other cognitive processes, healthy undergraduates will complete an eye-tracking attentional task while performing the cold pressor test after receiving an acceptance or distraction-based instruction.

The objective of the present project is to evaluate the effectiveness of two brief evidence-based intervention programs of six sessions, in an individual format, for the prevention or reduction of post-traumatic and depressive symptomatology and the promotion of subjective well-being and post-traumatic growth in persons who have been recent victims of criminal violence. An experimental design will be used, with random assignment of participants to one of three groups: G1 with Brief Systemic Therapy (BST), G2 with Positive Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PCBT), and G3 in a waiting list, as a control group (CG). Participants will be victims of criminal violence in the last six months, referred from the Regional Unit of Attention to Victims and Witnesses of the National Prosecutor's Office, dependent on the Chilean Public Prosecutor's Office. To evaluate the feasibility and differential efficacy of two brief intervention programs in individual format (BST and PCBT) for the prevention or reduction of post-traumatic and depressive symptomatology and the promotion of subjective well-being and post-traumatic growth in persons who have been recent victims of criminal violence.

This study aims to explore the extent to which research related to mental health during the spread of the COVID-19 follows established standards of quality, given the high amount of studies conducted during the last three months.

Established in March 2020, the COVID-19 Psychological Research Consortium (C19PRC) Study is a dynamic, longitudinal, multi-country study which aims to monitor and evaluate the psychological, socio-economic, and political impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the lives of adults living in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Spain, and Italy (McBride et al., 2020). The UK-strand of the C19PRC Study (C19PRC-UK) is the ‘parent’ strand of the Consortium upon which other countries model their survey design, content, and fieldwork procedures. Methodological reports for the C19PRC Study in the UK and other countries are available elsewhere (Bruno et al., 2021; McBride et al., 2021a; McBride et al., 2021b; McBride et al., 2020; Spikol et al., 2021; Valiente et al., 2020; Valiente et al., 2021). This pre-registration document outlines a set of research questions, and expected results, for data collected on mental health during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe. This pre-registration has been submitted prior to conducting any network analyses on the combined C19PRC data from the UK, Republic of Ireland, Spain and Italy.

A Spanish national representative study of psychological responses the Covid-19 crisis: socio-political beliefs, mental health difficulties and well-being.

The main objective of the study is to evaluate the effects of two mindfulness-based intensive interventions [Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training or Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT)], on psychological, physiological, and epigenetic variables. During a 7-day retreat participants will receive the two types of intervention (MBSR and CCT), in a random order. After finishing their first 3-day intervention with one of the two programs, participants will be assigned to the second 3-day intervention with the second program (i.e., crossover design). All measures will be collected on the mornings of Days 1, 3 and 7 of the retreat while the interventions will start in the afternoon of Day 1 and will finish in the evening of Day 6.

We present two studies looking at the effect of mood-repair strategies following a negative mood induction via the recall of personal negative events. With this proposal, we intend to create a controlled protocol to help individuals effectively manage the emotions that arise from retrieving negative autobiographical memories. In Study 1, conducted in a population of undergraduate university students, the experimental task consists of the recall of an autobiographical negative event, used to elicit negative mood, followed by one of three mood-repair conditions: self-compassion instructions, positive reappraisal (benefit-finding), and a control condition with no regulation strategy. Individuals will be asked to remember a specific event in their lives in which something went wrong, they had some responsibility for what happened, and the emotions associated with the event were negative ones (e.g., shame, guilt, sadness...). Immediately afterwards, participants will be randomised to one of the 3 mood-repair conditions: self-compassion, benefit-focused reappraisal, or the control condition. Self-report measures will be collected before the negative mood induction (T1), following the recall task (T2), and after the mood repair strategies (T3). In Study 2, the population will comprise participants from mindfulness meditation-based courses: Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT). In this second study, the task will consist of exactly the same negative mood induction procedure as Study 1 but, given the nature of these programs, the mood regulation conditions will only include compassion and control.
