Qualitative interviews exploring the essence and impacts of clinical academics within a single UK healthcare organisation.

DESIGN: Qualitative interview study. AIMS: To explore research participants’ views on the impacts of research involvement, specifically for research that has been led by healthcare professionals outside medicine. ANALYSIS METHOD: Framework analysis. POPULATION: Current and previous research participants/patient research advisory group members who are/have been involved in research led by healthcare professionals outside medicine. ELIGIBILITY: Research involvement in past 3 years. DURATION: 16 months. The aims of this study are to explore individuals’ experiences of being involved in healthcare research and to identify the types of impacts that are important for participants or patient and public advisors. Specifically, research led by NMAHPP clinicians (Nursing, Midwifery, Allied health professions, Healthcare science, Psychology and Pharmacy).
