A new study on Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) testing recommendations for perinatally exposed infants and children has been published. The research highlights the importance of early identification and linkage to care for children with perinatally acquired HCV infection. The study recommends a nucleic acid test (NAT) for detection of HCV RNA at 2-6 months of age to increase the identification of infants who may develop chronic hepatitis C.
