A recent study conducted at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany has examined the use of the Nimbus stent-retriever (NSR) in mechanical thrombectomy procedures. The NSR is designed to retrieve tough clots using a micro-clamping technique. The study found that the NSR was effective in recovering thrombi in 58% of cases, resulting in vessel recanalization in 6 of those cases. The researchers concluded that the NSR appeared to be a safe and effective second-line stent-retriever after unsuccessful attempts with conventional methods.
