BACKGROUND: Limited research has been conducted on the association between intake of fruits and vegetables and hypertriglyceridemia, especially in Asian populations. This study aimed to investigate the association between total fruit and vegetable intake, as well as subgroups of fruit and vegetable intake, with hypertriglyceridemia among Korean adults. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 7934 adults aged 19-64 years from the fourth Korean Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Fruit and vegetable intake was estimated from a food frequency questionnaire. Subgroups of fruits and vegetables included citrus, non-citrus and carotene-rich fruits and cruciferous, green leafy and carotene-rich vegetables. Hypertriglyceridemia (plasma triglyceride [greater than or equal to] 150 mg/dl) was diagnosed using a blood sample drawn after 12+ hours of fasting. RESULTS: There were 2001 (25.2%) cases of hypertriglyceridemia among the participants. Total fruit intake was significantly inversely associated with the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia; the multivariate odds ratios (95% confidence intervals) of hypertriglyceridemia across increasing quintiles were 1.00 (ref), 0.76 (0.62, 0.92), 0.72 (0.58, 0.90), 0.68 (0.54, 0.85) and 0.64 (0.49, 0.82; [P.sub.trend] = 0.001) after controlling for survey year, body mass index, waist circumference, smoking, alcohol drinking, physical activity, education and income. Similar inverse associations were found for all fruit subgroups. However, we found no significant association between intakes of total or subgroups of vegetable and hypertriglyceridemia; the odds ratio for top vs bottom quintile was 1.00 (0.81-1.24) for total vegetable intake. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings support a potential beneficial role of fruit consumption to reduce blood triglyceride levels in Asian populations. BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Obesity is associated with increased triglyceride levels. We examined whether overall obesity (body mass index (BMI)) and abdominal obesity (waist circumference (WC)) are independently associated with hypertriglyceridemia among the Korean population. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A national sample of 5036 Koreans aged 19-64 was examined with cross-sectional surveys, the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, in 2007 and 2008. BMI, WC and other lifestyle information were assessed. RESULTS: We documented 1344 cases (26.7%) of hypertriglyceridemia (fasting triglycerides of >150mg/dl). Both BMI and WC were each independently associated with hypertriglyceridemia. Background: Use of multivitamins may reduce the risk of colorectal adenoma, but the duration of use needed is unclear. Methods: We prospectively examined years of multivitamin use and risk of colorectal adenoma among 43 641 women who had a first endoscopy between 1991 and 2007 in the Nurses' Health Study II. Use of multivitamins was assessed through biennial questionnaires since 1989. Results: We documented 2277 colorectal adenoma cases. Reporting multivitamin use at any time during the study period compared with never reporting its use was associated with a reduced risk of adenoma (multivariable relative risk (RR)=0.86, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.76–0.97). There was no clear trend with duration of multivitamin use: years of use compared with never use, ⩽4 years (RR=0.84, 95% CI: 0.74–0.96), 5–9 years (RR=0.89, 95% CI: 0.77, 1.02), 10–14 years (RR=0.86, 95% CI: 0.74, 1.01), 15–19 years (RR=0.85, 95% CI: 0.70, 1.02), and 20–26 years (RR=0.80, 95% CI: 0.64, 1.01); (P trend=0.87). The strongest associations (years of use vs never user) were for size of adenoma: large (⩾1 cm) <4 years (RR=0.75, 95% CI: 0.58–0.96) and in alcohol users (⩾1.4 g per day) 20–26 years (RR=0.67, 95% CI: 0.49–0.91). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that use of multivitamins is associated with lower risk of colorectal adenoma, even with relatively short duration of use.

The prevalence of obesity in dogs is increasing worldwide. This study evaluated the effects of a mixed probiotic formula on the weight, body condition score (BCS), blood metabolite profiles, and gut microbiota of overweight and obese dogs over a 12-week supplementation period to determine the anti-obesity effects of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CBT LP3 and Bifidobacterium breve CBT BR3. This was a community-based, randomized study that sampled 41 overweight and obese dogs with a veterinarian-determined BCS of 6 or more. The physical activity of all the subjects was measured using a pedometer designed exclusively for dogs. The food intake was measured using the developed application. Only the treatment group received the mixed probiotic formula twice daily (3 g per dose). A significant decrease in body weight (p < 0.0001), BCS (p < 0.0001), serum TG (p < 0.0001), serum TC (p = 0.0400), and serum leptin (p = 0.0252), and a significantly increased serum adiponectin levels (p = 0.0007) were observed in the treatment group compared with the values in the control group. Microbiota analysis showed that Lactiplantibacillus increased and Erysipelatoclostridium, Staphylococcus, and Gemella decreased more significantly in the treatment group than in the control group. These results suggested that Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CBT LP3 and Bifidobacterium breve CBT BR3 may be effective in alleviating obesity in dogs., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

Metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes are marked by insulin resistance 1,2 . Cells within the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus (ARC), which are crucial for regulating metabolism, become insulin resistant during the progression of metabolic disease 3-8 , but these mechanisms are not fully understood. Here we investigated the role of a specialized chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan extracellular matrix, termed a perineuronal net, which surrounds ARC neurons. In metabolic disease, the perineuronal net of the ARC becomes augmented and remodelled, driving insulin resistance and metabolic dysfunction. Disruption of the perineuronal net in obese mice, either enzymatically or with small molecules, improves insulin access to the brain, reversing neuronal insulin resistance and enhancing metabolic health. This prospective study evaluated the relationship between laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) ocular blood flow velocity (BFV) and five birth parameters: gestational age (GA), postmenstrual age (PMA) and chronological age (CA) at the time of measurement, birth weight (BW), and current weight (CW) in preterm neonates at risk for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). 38 Neonates with BW < 2 kg, GA < 32 weeks, and PMA between 27 and 47 weeks underwent 91 LSCI sessions. Correlation tests and regression analysis were performed to quantify relationships between birth parameters and ocular BFV. Mean ocular BFV index in this cohort was 8.8 +/- 4.0 IU. BFV positively correlated with PMA (r = 0.3, p = 0.01), CA (r = 0.3, p = 0.005), and CW (r = 0.3, p = 0.02). BFV did not correlate with GA nor BW (r = - 0.2 and r = - 0.05, p > 0.05). Regression analysis with mixed models demonstrated that BFV increased by 1.2 for every kilogram of CW, by 0.34 for every week of CA, and by 0.36 for every week of PMA (p = 0.03, 0.004, 0.007, respectively). Our findings indicate that increased age and weight are associated with increased ocular BFV measured using LSCI in premature infants. Biomedical research on the brain has led to many discoveries and developments, such as understanding human consciousness and the mind and overcoming brain diseases. However, historical biomedical research on the brain has unique characteristics that differ from those of conventional biomedical research. For example, there are different scientific interpretations due to the high complexity of the brain and insufficient intercommunication between researchers of different disciplines owing to the limited conceptual and technical overlap of distinct backgrounds. Therefore, the development of biomedical research on the brain has been slower than that in other areas. Brain biomedical research has recently undergone a paradigm shift, and conducting patient-centered, large-scale brain biomedical research has become possible using emerging high-throughput analysis tools. Neuroimaging, multiomics, and artificial intelligence technology are the main drivers of this new approach, foreshadowing dramatic advances in translational research. In addition, emerging interdisciplinary cooperative studies provide insights into how unresolved questions in biomedicine can be addressed. The link between chronic inflammation and cancer development is well acknowledged. Inflammatory bowel disease including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease frequently promotes colon cancer development. Thus, control of intestinal inflammation is a therapeutic strategy to prevent and manage colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CRC). Recently, gut mucosal damage-associated molecular patterns S100A8 and S100A9, acting via interactions with their pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), especially TLR4 and RAGE, have emerged as key players in the pathogenesis of colonic inflammation. We found elevated serum levels of S100A8 and S100A9 in both colitis and colitis-associated CRC mouse models along with significant increases in their binding with PRR, TLR4, and RAGE. In this study we developed a dual PRR-inhibiting peptide system (rCT-S100A8/A9) that consisted of TLR4- and RAGE-inhibiting motifs derived from S100A8 and S100A9, and conjugated with a CT peptide (TWYKIAFQRNRK) for colon-specific delivery. In human monocyte THP-1 and mouse BMDMs, S100A8/A9-derived peptide comprising TLR4- and RAGE-interacting motif (0.01, 0.1, 1 μM) dose-dependently inhibited the binding of S100 to TLR4 or RAGE, and effectively inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome activation. We demonstrated that rCT-S100A8/A9 had appropriate drug-like properties including in vitro stabilities and PK properties as well as pharmacological activities. In mouse models of DSS-induced acute and chronic colitis, injection of rCT-S100A8/A9 (50 μg·kg -1 ·d -1 , i.p. for certain consecutive days) significantly increased the survival rates and alleviated the pathological injuries of the colon. In AOM/DSS-induced colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) mouse model, injection of rCT-S100A8/A9 (50 μg·kg -1 ·d -1 , i.p.) increased the body weight, decreased tumor burden in the distal colon, and significantly alleviated histological colonic damage. In mice bearing oxaliplatin-resistant CRC xenografts, injection of rCT-S100A8/A9 (20 μg/kg, i.p., every 3 days for 24-30 days) significantly inhibited the tumor growth with reduced EMT-associated markers in tumor tissues. Football has one of the highest incidence rates of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) among contact sports; however, the effects of repeated sub-concussive head impacts on brain structure and function remain under-studied. We assessed the association between biomarkers of mTBI and structural and functional MRI scans over an entire season among non-concussed NCAA Division I linemen and non-linemen. Concentrations of S100B, GFAP, BDNF, NFL, and NSE were assessed in 48 collegiate football players (32 linemen; 16 non-linemen) before the start of pre-season training (pre-camp), at the end of pre-season training (pre-season), and at the end of the competitive season (post-season). Changes in brain structure and function were assessed in a sub-sample of 11 linemen and 6 non-linemen using structural and functional MRI during the execution of Stroop and attention network tasks. S100B, GFAP and BDNF concentrations were increased at post-season compared to pre-camp in linemen. White matter hyperintensities increased in linemen during pre-season camp training compared to pre-camp. This study showed that the effects of repeated head impacts are detectable in the blood of elite level non-concussed collegiate football players exposed to low-moderate impacts to the heads, which correlated with some neurological outcomes without translating to clinically-relevant changes in brain anatomy or function., (© 2024. In this study, we aimed to examine the current status of physical restraint use and ascertain factors affecting the rate of usage of physical restraints on older adults in South Korean nursing homes. For this purpose, we conducted a secondary analysis of data from 190 registered nurses employed at 62 nursing homes. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors affecting the use of restraints in nursing homes. The rate of using physical restraints was 79.5%. Nursing homes were found to use 90.7% and 91.3% less restraint when the work environment was better (odds ratio [OR]: 0.093, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.023-0.368) and mixed (OR: 0.087, 95% CI: 0.087-0.100), respectively. Nursing homes owned by corporations were 9.796 times more likely to use physical restraints than those owned by local governments (OR: 9.796, 95% CI: 1.473-65.158). Therefore, improving nurses' work environment and introducing regulations and education that enable the entrusted doctors or nurses to make decisions regarding restraint use, monitoring, and removal, regardless of nursing home ownership type, are necessary., (© 2024. Response to digital healthcare lifestyle modifications is highly divergent. This study aimed to examine the association between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotypes and clinical efficacy of a digital healthcare lifestyle modification. We genotyped 97 obesity-related SNPs from 45 participants aged 18-39 years, who underwent lifestyle modification via digital cognitive behavioral therapy for obesity for 8 weeks. Anthropometric, eating behavior phenotypes, and psychological measures were analyzed before and after the intervention to identify their clinical efficacy. CETP (rs9939224) SNP significantly predict "super-responders" with greater body mass index (BMI) reduction (p = 0.028; GG - 2.91%, GT - 9.94%), while APOA2 (rs5082) appeared to have some potential for predicting "poor-responders" with lower BMI reduction (p = 0.005; AA - 6.17%, AG + 2.05%, and GG + 5.11%). These SNPs was also associated with significant differences in eating behavior changes, healthy diet proportions, health diet diversity, emotional and restrained eating behavior changes. Furthermore, classification using gene-gene interactions between rs9939224 and rs5082 significantly predicted the best response, with a greater decrease in BMI (p = 0.038; - 11.45% for the best response group (CEPT GT/TT × APOA2 AA) vs. + 2.62% for the worst response group (CEPT GG × APOA2 AG/GG)). CETP and APOA2 SNPs can be used as candidate markers to predict the efficacy of digital healthcare lifestyle modifications based on genotype-based precision medicine.Trial registration: NCT03465306, ClinicalTrials.gov. As transistor integration accelerates and miniaturization progresses, improving the interfacial adhesion characteristics of complex metal interconnect has become a major issue in ensuring semiconductor device reliability. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important to interpret the adhesive properties of metal interconnects at the atomic level, predict their adhesive strength and failure mode, and develop computational methods that can be universally applied regardless of interface properties. In this study, we propose a method for theoretically understanding adhesion characteristics through steering molecular dynamics simulations based on machine learning interatomic potentials. We utilized this method to investigate the adhesion characteristics of tungsten deposited on titanium nitride barrier metal (W/TiN) as a representative metal interconnect structure in devices. Pulling tests that pull two materials apart and sliding tests that pull them against each other in a shear direction were implemented to investigate the failure mode and adhesive strength depending on TiN facet orientation. We found that the W/TiN interface showed an adhesive failure where they separate from each other when tested with pulling force on Ti-rich (111) or (001) facets while cohesive failures occurred where W itself was destroyed on N-rich (111) facet. The adhesion strength was defined as the maximum force causing failure during the pulling test for consistent interpretation and the strengths of tungsten were predicted to be strongest when deposited onto N-rich (111) facet while weakest on Ti-rich (111) facet., (© 2023. The behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) are challenging aspects of dementia care. This study used machine learning models to predict the occurrence of BPSD among community-dwelling older adults with dementia. We included 187 older adults with dementia for model training and 35 older adults with dementia for external validation. Demographic and health data and premorbid personality traits were examined at the baseline, and actigraphy was utilized to monitor sleep and activity levels. A symptom diary tracked caregiver-perceived symptom triggers and the daily occurrence of 12 BPSD classified into seven subsyndromes. Several prediction models were also employed, including logistic regression, random forest, gradient boosting machine, and support vector machine. The random forest models revealed the highest area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) values for hyperactivity, euphoria/elation, and appetite and eating disorders; the gradient boosting machine models for psychotic and affective symptoms; and the support vector machine model showed the highest AUC. The gradient boosting machine model achieved the best performance in terms of average AUC scores across the seven subsyndromes. Caregiver-perceived triggers demonstrated higher feature importance values across the seven subsyndromes than other features. Nurses often multitask in the process of managing patient care and communicating with healthcare providers simultaneously within a limited time, which can negatively affect patient care and safety. In this multimethod research, we conducted a time and motion study to record nursing activities using eye trackers for 23 participants (9 nurses and 14 patients). The frequency and duration of single and multitasking activities were analyzed. Additionally, we conducted focus group interviews (FGIs) with 12 nurses (2-5 nurses per group) to further investigate their multitasking experience. The total duration of the eye tracker recordings was 3,399 min. Daily nursing activities comprised 23.7%, 21.1%, and 12.5% of scheduled medication, documentation, and monitoring and measurement, respectively. Among these activities, nurses mostly carry out scheduled medication, monitoring, and measurement together. Three themes emerged in the FGIs: "Being involved in every little task regarding patient care," "Getting swamped by the complexity of symptoms and problems of the patients at a given time," and "Getting interrupted at work too often." Nurses performed multiple activities while cooperating with other healthcare providers and providing care to patients. nArgBP2, a candidate gene for intellectual disability, is a postsynaptic protein critical for dendritic spine development and morphogenesis, and its knockdown (KD) in developing neurons severely impairs spine-bearing excitatory synapse formation. Surprisingly, nArgBP2 KD in mature neurons did not cause morphological defects in the existing spines at rest, raising questions of how it functions in mature neurons. We found that unlike its inaction at rest, nArgBP2 KD completely inhibited the enlargement of dendritic spines during chemically induced long-term potentiation (cLTP) in mature neurons. We further found that nArgBP2 forms condensates in dendritic spines and that these condensates are dispersed by cLTP, which spatiotemporally coincides with spine head enlargement. Condensates with CaMKII phosphorylation-deficient mutant or CaMKII inhibition are neither dispersed nor accompanied by spine enlargement during cLTP. We found that nArgBP2 condensates in spines exhibited liquid-like properties, and in heterologous and in vitro expression systems, nArgBP2 undergoes liquid-liquid phase separation via multivalent intermolecular interactions between SH3 domains and proline-rich domains. It also forms coacervates with CaMKIIα, which is rapidly dissembled by calcium/CaMKIIα-dependent phosphorylation. We further showed that the interaction between nArgBP2 and WAVE1 competes with nArgBP2 phase separation and that blocking the nArgBP2-WAVE1 interaction prevents spine enlargement during cLTP. Together, our results suggest that nArgBP2 at rest is confined to the condensates but is released by CaMKIIα-mediated phosphorylation during synaptic plasticity, which regulates its timely interaction with WAVE1 to induce spine head enlargement in mature neurons., (© 2023. Management of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) remains a significant challenge in the treatment of cancer. Risk mitigation for CIPN involves preemptive reduction of cumulative dose or reduction of dose intensity upon emergence of symptoms, despite the risk of reduced tumor efficacy. A predictive biomarker for dose-limiting CIPN could improve treatment outcomes by allowing providers to make informed decisions that balance both safety and efficacy. To identify a predictive biomarker of CIPN, markers of neurodegeneration neurofilament-light (NfL), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), tau and ubiquitin c-terminal hydrolase L1 (UCHL1) were assessed in serum of up to 88 subjects drawn 21 days following the first of 6 treatments with chemotherapeutics paclitaxel and carboplatin. Serum NfL and GFAP were increased with chemotherapy. Further, NfL change predicted subsequent onset of grade 2-3 CIPN during the remainder of the trial (mean treatment duration = 200 days) and trended toward stronger prediction of CIPN that remained unresolved at the end of the study. These results confirm previous reports that serum NfL is increased in CIPN and provide the first evidence that NfL can be used to identify subjects susceptible to dose-limiting paclitaxel and carboplatin induced CIPN prior to onset of symptoms., (© 2022. The impact of COVID-19 on systemic immunity in the general population has been well characterized, however the short-term effects of COVID-19 infection on innate salivary immunity in elite-level athletes are unknown. Therefore, this study aimed to determine whether elite college football athletes had altered salivary immunity following the CDC-recommended isolation post-SARS-CoV-2 infection. Salivary samples were obtained from fourteen elite football players who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 (n = 14), immediately after CDC-recommended isolation (average days = 14 ± 2 days) and fifteen controls who remained uninfected with SARS-CoV-2. Biomarkers of innate salivary immunity (sIgA and alpha-amylase), antimicrobial proteins (AMPs, i.e., HNP1-3, lactoferrin, LL-37) and lung inflammation (SPA, SPLI, and Neutrophil Elastase-alpha-1-antitrypsin complex) were measured. Independent student t-tests were used to determine changes in biomarkers between groups. Although all AMP levels were within normal range, Human Neutrophil Defensin 1-3 concentrations and secretion rates were higher in SARS-CoV-2+ compared to SARS-CoV-2-. This suggests that the CDC-recommended isolation period is sufficient to ensure that athletes' salivary immunity is not compromised upon return to sports, and athletes post-COVID-19 infection do not appear to be at greater risk for secondary infection than those with no history of COVID-19., (© 2022. Cancer immunoediting drives the adaptation of tumor cells to host immune surveillance. Previously, we have demonstrated that immunoediting driven by cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) enriches NANOG +  tumor cells with immune-refractory properties. Here, we found that CTL-mediated immune pressure triggered cross-resistance of tumor cells to the complement system, a part of the innate immune system. In this process, NANOG upregulated the membrane-bound complement regulatory protein (mCRP) CD59 through promoter occupancy, thereby contributing to the resistance of tumor cells against complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). Notably, targeting of NANOG sensitized the immune-refractory tumor cells to trastuzumab-mediated CDC. Collectively, our results revealed a possible mechanism through which selection imposed by T-cell based immunotherapy triggered complement-resistant phenotypes in the tumor microenvironment (TME), by establishing a firm molecular link between NANOG and CD59 in immune-edited tumor cells. Although circumstantial evidence supports enhanced Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) signalling as a mechanism of human systemic autoimmune disease 1-7 , evidence of lupus-causing TLR7 gene variants is lacking. Here we describe human systemic lupus erythematosus caused by a TLR7 gain-of-function variant. TLR7 is a sensor of viral RNA 8 , 9 and binds to guanosine 10 - 12 . We identified a de novo, previously undescribed missense TLR7 Y264H variant in a child with severe lupus and additional variants in other patients with lupus. The TLR7 Y264H variant selectively increased sensing of guanosine and 2',3'-cGMP 10-12 , and was sufficient to cause lupus when introduced into mice. We show that enhanced TLR7 signalling drives aberrant survival of B cell receptor (BCR)-activated B cells, and in a cell-intrinsic manner, accumulation of CD11c + age-associated B cells and germinal centre B cells. Follicular and extrafollicular helper T cells were also increased but these phenotypes were cell-extrinsic. Deficiency of MyD88 (an adaptor protein downstream of TLR7) rescued autoimmunity, aberrant B cell survival, and all cellular and serological phenotypes. Despite prominent spontaneous germinal-centre formation in Tlr7 Y264H mice, autoimmunity was not ameliorated by germinal-centre deficiency, suggesting an extrafollicular origin of pathogenic B cells. This study examined the effects of nurse staffing levels, work environment, and education levels on adverse events in nursing homes. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 216 nurses working in 62 nursing homes in South Korea, using self-reported questionnaires and data from the National Health Insurance Service of South Korea. A logistic regression model was used to investigate the effects of nurse staffing levels, work environment, and nursing education levels on the adverse events experienced by residents. An increase of one resident per nurse was significantly associated with a higher incidence of medication error, pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections. A poor work environment increased the incidence of adverse events. Compared to nurses with a bachelor's degree or higher, those with diplomas reported increased incidence rates of pressure ulcers. Improving the health outcomes of residents in nursing homes requires efforts that strengthen the nursing workforce in terms of numbers and educational level, and which improve their work environment at institutional and policy levels., (© 2021. This study aimed to investigate the anticancer activity of dried-pericarp water extract of fermented C. japonicus (CJ). The dried-pericarp water extracts of CJ were fermented using Aspergillus oryzae and Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 30 °C and 35 °C. The anticancer activities of both water extracts fermented at 30 °C and 35 °C using A. oryzae against FaDu cells were remarkably changed compared with unfermented dried-pericarp water extract of CJ, which has no anticancer activity. Cleaved-PARP, caspase 3, and apoptotic cells stained with annexin V/PI were significantly increased by treatment with A. oryzae extracts fermented at 30 °C. The insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (IGFBP-2) protein level and mTOR phosphorylation by A. oryzae fermented extracts (AOFE) were dramatically reduced, and the expression levels of IGFBP-2 and phosphorylated mTOR were significantly increased depending on the glucose concentrations in FaDu cells. These results suggested that the cell viabilities in AOFE were restored as the glucose concentrations increased. Furthermore, it was confirmed LC/MS/MS that the content of gallic acid was increased by fermentation of Aspergillus oryzae (5.596 ± 0.1746 μg/mg) compared to the unfermented extract (1.620 ± 0.0432 μg/mg). Based on these results, the anticancer effect of AOFE was achieved through inhibition of the IGFBP-2/mTOR signaling pathway. Patients with alopecia areata (AA) may experience episodic disease flares characterized by increasing hair loss that follow a seasonal pattern. However, no studies have examined whether specific climate factors contribute to the seasonal pattern of AA flares. Using Spearman rank correlation analyses, we assessed the association between climate variables and AA flare frequency per month in 336 children with AA in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Region-specific monthly values for average ambient temperature, air pressure, cloudiness, hours of sunlight, relative humidity, number of days with sun, number of days with rain, volume of precipitation, wind gust, wind speed, and UV index from January 2015 to December 2017 were obtained from World Weather Online. We found significant (P < 0.05) correlations between AA flare frequency and UV index (R = - 0.66), precipitation (R = - 0.66), number of days with rain (R = - 0.70), number of days with sun (R = 0.62), and air pressure (R = 0.80). Stratified analyses showed even stronger associations with UV index and precipitation in patients with an atopic comorbidity. New significant correlations appeared with temperature, wind speed, and UV index of the prior month. However, in patients who did not have atopic comorbidities, we generally observed weaker and non-significant correlations between climate and AA flare frequency. This study suggests that certain climate factors may mediate the seasonal pattern of AA flares and may contribute to AA pathogenesis. Recent findings suggest that social disengagement in later life may result in cognitive decline and increase risk of Alzheimer's and related dementias. However, little is known regarding the gender-specific longitudinal association between social engagement and cognition among middle-aged and older adults. Using data from a nationally representative sample of 2707 men and 5196 women from the Korean longitudinal study of aging, we examined the gender-specific association between social activity and cognitive function. Results from the generalized estimating equation model showed that compared to individuals with consistent social engagement (religious, senior center, sport, reunion, voluntary, political), individuals with inconsistent engagement had lower cognitive function. Transitioning from engagement to non-engagement was associated with lower cognitive function among men only. Not being part of a senior center was associated with decreased cognitive function among both genders, while not being part of a religious group was significant for women only. While marital status was a significant predictor of cognitive ability for women, depression was a significant predictor for men. These findings have implications for policy-makers as interventions targeting improved cognitive function among middle-aged and older adults may be more effective when gender-specific predictors are taken into consideration., (© 2021. Background: SLCO-encoded transporters have been associated with progression to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) after initiation of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT). Although expressed at lower levels than in CRPC tissues, SLCO-encoded transporters may also play a role in response of primary prostate cancer (PCa) to ADT and biochemical recurrence., Methods: We systematically explored expression of the 11 human SLCO genes in a large sample of untreated and ADT-treated normal prostate (NP) and primary PCa tissues, including tumors treated with neoadjuvant abiraterone., Results: Transporters with the most recognized role in steroid uptake in PCa, including SLCO2B1 (DHEAS) and 1B3 (testosterone), were consistently detected in primary PCa. SLCO1B3 was nearly 5-fold higher in PCa vs NP with no difference in Gleason 3 vs 4 and no change with ADT. SLCO2B1 was detected at 3-fold lower levels in PCa than NP but was nearly 7-fold higher in Gleason 4 vs Gleason 3 and increased 3-fold following ADT (p < 0.05 for all)., Conclusions: We observed clear differences in SLCO expression in PCa vs NP samples, in Gleason 4 vs Gleason 3 tumors, and in ADT-treated vs untreated tissues. These findings are hypothesis generating due to small sample size, but suggest that baseline and ADT-induced changes in PCa OATP expression may influence steroid uptake and response to ADT, as well as uptake and response to drugs such as abiraterone and docetaxel which are also subject to OATP-mediated transport and are now being routinely combined with ADT in the metastatic castration sensitive setting.

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) has an undisputed genetic component and a stable 2:1 male to female sex ratio in its incidence across populations, suggesting possible sexual dimorphism in its genetic susceptibility. We conducted the first sex-specific genome-wide association analysis of RCC for men (3227 cases, 4916 controls) and women (1992 cases, 3095 controls) of European ancestry from two RCC genome-wide scans and replicated the top findings using an additional series of men (2261 cases, 5852 controls) and women (1399 cases, 1575 controls) from two independent cohorts of European origin. Our study confirmed sex-specific associations for two known RCC risk loci at 14q24.2 (DPF3) and 2p21(EPAS1). We also identified two additional suggestive male-specific loci at 6q24.3 (SAMD5, male odds ratio (OR male ) = 0.83 [95% CI = 0.78-0.89], P male  = 1.71 × 10 -8 compared with female odds ratio (OR female ) = 0.98 [95% CI = 0.90-1.07], P female  = 0.68) and 12q23.3 (intergenic, OR male  = 0.75 [95% CI = 0.68-0.83], P male  = 1.59 × 10 -8 compared with OR female  = 0.93 [95% CI = 0.82-1.06], P female  = 0.21) that attained genome-wide significance in the joint meta-analysis. Herein, we provide evidence of sex-specific associations in RCC genetic susceptibility and advocate the necessity of larger genetic and genomic studies to unravel the endogenous causes of sex bias in sexually dimorphic traits and diseases like RCC.

Cluh is a cytosolic protein that is known to specifically bind the mRNAs of nuclear-encoded mitochondrial proteins and play critical roles in mitochondrial biogenesis. Here, we report the role of Cluh in adipogenesis. Our study shows that mRNA expression of Cluh is stimulated during adipogenesis, and that cAMP/Creb signalling increases its transcription. Cluh depletion impaired proper adipocyte differentiation, with reductions seen in lipid droplets and adipogenic marker gene expression. Interestingly, the inductions of the brown adipocyte-specific genes, Ucp1, Cidea and Cox7a1, are severely blocked by Cluh depletion during brown adipogenesis. Mitochondrial respiration and the stability of mRNAs encoding mitochondrial proteins are reduced by Cluh depletion during brown adipogenesis. These results suggest that Cluh, which is induced during adipogenesis, promotes the post-transcriptional regulation of mitochondrial proteins and supports differentiation.

Controlling defect states in a buffer layer for organic photo devices is one of the vital factors which have great influence on the device performance. Defect states in silicon oxynitride (SiO x N y ) buffer layer for organic photo devices can be controlled by introducing appropriate dopant materials. We performed ab initio simulations to identify the effect on doping SiO x N y with carbon (C), boron (B), and phosphorous (P) atoms. The results unveil that hole defects in the SiO x N y layer diminish with the phosphorous doping. Based on the simulation results, we fabricate the small molecule organic photodetector (OPD) including the phosphorous-doped SiO x N y buffer layer and the active film of blended naphthalene-based donor and C60 acceptor molecules, which shows excellent enhancement in the external quantum efficiency (EQE). The results of our charge-based deep level transient spectroscopy (Q-DLTS) measurements confirmed that the EQE enhancement originates from the decrease of the hole traps induced by the reduced hole defects. The method of controlling the defect states in SiO x N y buffer layers by the doping can be used to improve the performance in various organic photo devices.

Sleep and emotion are both powerful modulators of the long-term stability of episodic memories, but precisely how these factors interact remains unresolved. We assessed changes in item recognition, contextual memory, and affective tone for negative and neutral memories across a 12 h interval containing sleep or wakefulness in 71 human volunteers. Our data indicate a sleep-dependent stabilization of negative contextual memories, in a way not seen for neutral memories, item recognition, or across wakefulness. Furthermore, retention of contextual memories was positively associated with the proportion of time spent in non-rapid eye movement sleep in a valence-independent manner. Finally, while affective responses to previously seen negative stimuli and to both old and new neutral stimuli decreased across an interval of sleep, effects for memorized items did not differ reliably between sleep and wake. These results add to our understanding of the complex interrelations among sleep, memory, and emotion.

Optimizing synthesis parameters is the key to successfully design ideal Ni-rich cathode materials that satisfy principal electrochemical specifications. We herein implement machine learning algorithms using 330 experimental datasets, obtained from a controlled environment for reliability, to construct a predictive model. First, correlation values showed that the calcination temperature and the size of the particles are determining factors for achieving a long cycle life. Then, we compared the accuracy of seven different machine learning algorithms for predicting the initial capacity, capacity retention rate, and amount of residual Li. Remarkable predictive capability was obtained with the average value of coefficient of determinant, R 2  = 0.833, from the extremely randomized tree with adaptive boosting algorithm. Furthermore, we propose a reverse engineering framework to search for experimental parameters that satisfy the target electrochemical specification. The proposed results were validated by experiments. The current results demonstrate that machine learning has great potential to accelerate the optimization process for the commercialization of cathode materials.

Chronic inflammation is a potential systemic risk factor for many bladder dysfunctions, including interstitial cystitis (IC). However, the underlying mechanism through which a healthy bladder protects itself from inflammatory triggers remains unknown. In this study, we identified odor compounds in urine obtained from IC patients and healthy controls. Using comprehensive solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (SPME-GC-TOF-MS) profiling and bioinformatics, we found that levels of urinary volatile metabolites, such as menthol, were significantly reduced in IC patients, compared to healthy controls. In an attempt to understand the mechanistic meaning of our volatile metabolites data and the role of menthol in the immune system, we performed two independent experiments: (a) cytokine profiling, and (b) DNA microarray. Our findings suggest that lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated inflammatory events, such as the production and secretion of inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β) and the activation of NF-κB and associated proteins within a large signaling network (e.g., Akt, TLR1, TNFAIP3, and NF-κB), are suppressed by the presence of menthol. These findings broaden our knowledge on the role of urinary menthol in suppressing inflammatory events and provide potential new strategies for alleviating both the odor and inflammation associated with IC.

Our aims for this study were to investigate the relationship between diffusion weighted image (DWI) parameters of brain metastases (BMs) and biological markers of breast cancer, and moreover, to assess whether DWI parameters accurately predict patient outcomes. DWI data for 34 patients with BMs from breast cancer were retrospectively reviewed. Apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) histogram parameters were calculated from all measurable BMs. Two region of interest (ROI) methods are used for the analysis: from the largest BM or from all measurable BMs per one patient. ADC histogram parameters were compared between positive and negative groups depending on ER/PR and HER2 statuses. Overall survival analysis after BM (OSBM) and BM-specific progression-free survival (BMPFS) was analyzed with ADC parameters. Regardless of ROI methods, 25th percentile of ADC histogram was significantly lower in the ER/PR-positive group than in the ER/PR-negative group (P < 0.05). Using ROIs from all measurable BMs, Peak location, 50th percentile, 75th percentile, and mean value of ADC histogram were also significantly lower in the ER/PR-positive group than in the ER/PR-negative group (P < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between HER2-postive and negative group. On univariate analysis, using ROIs from all measurable BMs, lower 25th percentile, 50th percentile and mean of ADC were significant predictors for poor BMPFS. ADC histogram analysis may have a prognostic value over ER/PR status as well as BMPFS.

Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic urinary tract disease that is characterized by unpleasant sensations, such as persistent pelvic pain, in the absence of infection or other identifiable causes. We previously performed comprehensive metabolomics profiling of urine samples from IC patients using nuclear magnetic resonance and gas-chromatography/mass spectrometry and found that urinary α-oxoglutarate (α-OG), was significantly elevated. α-OG, a tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle intermediate, reportedly functions to suppress the proliferation of immortalized normal human bladder epithelial cells. Here, we identified AT-rich interactive domain 1 A (ARID1A), a key chromatin remodeler, as being hypomethylated and upregulated by α-OG treatment. This was done through EPIC DNA methylation profiling and subsequent biochemical approaches, including quantitative RT-PCR and western blot analyses. Furthermore, we found that α-OG almost completely suppresses ten-eleven translocation (TET) activity, but does not affect DNA methyltransferase (DNMT) activity. Altogether, our studies reveal the potential role of α-OG in epigenetic remodeling through its effects on ARID1A and TET expression in the bladder. This may provide a new possible therapeutic strategy in treating IC.

We report on the degradation process by water vapor of hydrogenated amorphous silicon oxynitride (SiON:H) films deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition at low temperature. The stability of the films was investigated as a function of the oxygen content and deposition temperature. Degradation by defects such as pinholes was not observed with transmission electron microscopy. However, we observed that SiON:H film degrades by reacting with water vapor through only interstitial paths and nano-defects. To monitor the degradation process, the atomic composition, mass density, and fully oxidized thickness were measured by using high-resolution Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy and X-ray reflectometry. The film rapidly degraded above an oxygen composition of ~27 at%, below a deposition temperature of ~150 °C, and below an mass density of ~2.15 g/cm 3 . This trend can be explained by the extents of porosity and percolation channel based on the ring model of the network structure. In the case of a high oxygen composition or low temperature, the SiON:H film becomes more porous because the film consists of network channels of rings with a low energy barrier.

This manuscript provides a comprehensive study of adhesion behavior and its governing mechanisms when polyimide undergoes various modes of detachment from silica glass. Within the framework of steered molecular dynamics, we develop three different adhesion measurement techniques: pulling, peeling, and sliding. Such computational methodologies can be applied to investigate heterogeneous materials with differing interfacial adhesion modes. Here, a novel hybrid potential involving a combination of the INTERFACE force field in conjunction with ReaxFF and including Coulombic and Lennard-Jones interactions is employed to study such interfaces. The studies indicate that the pulling test requires the largest force and the shortest distance to detachment as the interfacial area is separated instantaneously, while the peeling test is observed to exhibit the largest distance for detachment because it separates via line-by-line adhesion. Two kinds of polyimides, aromatic and aliphatic type, are considered to demonstrate the rigidity dependent adhesion properties. The aromatic polyimide, which is more rigid due to the stronger charge transfer complex between chains, requires a greater force but a smaller distance at detachment than the aliphatic polyimide for all of the three methodologies.

Ni-rich layered oxides are promising cathode materials due to their high capacities. However, their synthesis process retains a large amount of Li residue on the surface, which is a main source of gas generation during operation of the battery. In this study, combined with simulation and experiment, we propose the optimal metal phosphate coating materials for removing residual Li from the surface of the Ni-rich layered oxide cathode material LiNi 0.91 Co 0.06 Mn 0.03 O 2 . First-principles-based screening process for 16 metal phosphates is performed to identify an ideal coating material that is highly reactive to Li 2 O. By constructing the phase diagram, we obtain the equilibrium phases from the reaction of coating materials and Li 2 O, based on a database using a DFT hybrid functional. Experimental verification for this approach is accomplished with Mn 3 (PO 4 ) 2 , Co 3 (PO 4 ) 2 , Fe 3 (PO 4 ) 2 , and TiPO 4 . The Li-removing capabilities of these materials are comparable to the calculated results. In addition, electrochemical performances up to 50 charge/discharge cycles show that Mn-, Co-, Fe-phosphate materials are superior to an uncoated sample in terms of preventing capacity fading behavior, while TiPO 4 shows poor initial capacity and rapid reduction of capacity during cycling. Finally, Li-containing equilibrium phases examined from XRD analysis are in agreement with the simulation results.

In this study, we employ a combination of various in-situ surface analysis techniques to investigate the thermally induced degradation processes in MAPbI 3 perovskite solar cells (PeSCs) as a function of temperature under air-free conditions (no moisture and oxygen). Through a comprehensive approach that combines in-situ grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray diffraction (GIWAXD) and high-resolution X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (HR-XPS) measurements, we confirm that the surface structure of MAPbI 3 perovskite film changes to an intermediate phase and decomposes to CH 3 I, NH 3 , and PbI 2 after both a short (20 min) exposure to heat stress at 100 °C and a long exposure (>1 hour) at 80 °C. Moreover, we observe clearly the changes in the orientation of CH 3 NH 3 + organic cations with respect to the substrate in the intermediate phase, which might be linked directly to the thermal degradation processes in MAPbI 3 perovskites. These results provide important progress towards improved understanding of the thermal degradation mechanisms in perovskite materials and will facilitate improvements in the design and fabrication of perovskite solar cells with better thermal stability.

Tuberculosis (TB) has severely threatened public health via emerging multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) strains. For effective TB treatment, rapid, accurate, and multiplex detection of drug resistance is extremely important. However, conventional methods for TB diagnosis are time consuming and have a limited effect on treatment. Nucleic acid-based molecular detection methods have been developed as an effective MDR/XDR-TB diagnosis technology. Among the nucleic acid-based methods, ligation-dependent methods are attractive as MDR/XDR-MTB detection technologies, but multiplex analysis is limited by the detection method. Although an electrophoresis-based method is considered for multiple target detection because it is free from the errors pertaining to hybridization-based systems, the procedure of multiplex analysis is quite complicated owing to the DNA size-based separation system. In this study, we report an accurate, rapid, and simple multiple MDR/XDR-MTB detection technology using gap-filling ligation reaction coupled with high-resolution capillary electrophoresis-based single-strand conformation polymorphism. Using this system, rapid and accurate MDR/XDR-MTB detection is feasible via similar length probes without the complicated step of probe design. We found that this method could accurately and effectively detect highly polymorphic regions in specific codons associated with drug resistance.

This study explores a facile method to prepare an efficient and durable support for Pt catalyst of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). As a candidate, Nb-doped TiO 2 (Nb-TiO 2 ) nanofibers are simply fabricated using an electrospinning technique, followed by a heat treatment. Doping Nb into the TiO 2 nanofibers leads to a drastic increase in electrical conductivity with doping level of up to 25 at. % (Nb 0.25 Ti 0.75 O 2 ). Pt nanoparticles are synthesized on the prepared 25 at. % Nb-doped TiO 2 -nanofibers (Pt/Nb-TiO 2 ) as well as on a commercial powdered carbon black (Pt/C). The Pt/Nb-TiO 2 nanofiber catalyst exhibits similar oxygen reaction reduction (ORR) activity to that of the Pt/C catalyst. However, during an accelerated stress test (AST), the Pt/Nb-TiO 2 nanofiber catalyst retained more than 60% of the initial ORR activity while the Pt/C catalyst lost 65% of the initial activity. The excellent durability of the Pt/Nb-TiO 2 nanofiber catalyst can be attributed to high corrosion resistance of TiO 2 and strong interaction between Pt and TiO 2 .

We demonstrated that a flat band voltage (V FB ) shift could be controlled in TiN/(LaO or ZrO)/SiO 2 stack structures. The V FB shift described in term of metal diffusion into the TiN film and silicate formation in the inserted (LaO or ZrO)/SiO 2 interface layer. The metal doping and silicate formation confirmed by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) line profiling, respectively. The direct work function measurement technique allowed us to make direct estimate of a variety of flat band voltages (V FB ). As a function of composition ratio of La or Zr to Ti in the region of a TiN/(LaO or ZrO)/SiO 2 /Si stack, direct work function modulation driven by La and Zr doping was confirmed with the work functions obtained from the cutoff value of secondary electron emission by auger electron spectroscopy (AES). We also suggested an analytical method to determine the interface dipole via work function depth profiling.

Throughout the past decades, doped-ZnO has been widely used in various optical, electrical, magnetic, and energy devices. While almost every element in the Periodic Table was doped in ZnO, the systematic computational study is still limited to a small number of dopants, which may hinder a firm understanding of experimental observations. In this report, we systematically calculate the single-element doping property of ZnO using first-principles calculations. We develop an automation code that enables efficient and reliable high-throughput calculations on thousands of possible dopant configurations. As a result, we obtain formation-energy diagrams for total 61 dopants, ranging from Li to Bi. Furthermore, we evaluate each dopant in terms of n-type/p-type behaviors by identifying the major dopant configurations and calculating carrier concentrations at a specific dopant density. The existence of localized magnetic moment is also examined for spintronic applications. The property database obtained here for doped ZnO will serve as a useful reference in engineering the material property of ZnO through doping.

This study on interstitial cystitis (IC) aims to identify a unique urine metabolomic profile associated with IC, which can be defined as an unpleasant sensation including pain and discomfort related to the urinary bladder, without infection or other identifiable causes. Although the burden of IC on the American public is immense in both human and financial terms, there is no clear diagnostic test for IC, but rather it is a disease of exclusion. Very little is known about the clinically useful urinary biomarkers of IC, which are desperately needed. Untargeted comprehensive metabolomic profiling was performed using gas-chromatography/mass-spectrometry to compare urine specimens of IC patients or health donors. The study profiled 200 known and 290 unknown metabolites. The majority of the thirty significantly changed metabolites before false discovery rate correction were unknown compounds. Partial least square discriminant analysis clearly separated IC patients from controls. The high number of unknown compounds hinders useful biological interpretation of such predictive models. Given that urine analyses have great potential to be adapted in clinical practice, research has to be focused on the identification of unknown compounds to uncover important clues about underlying disease mechanisms.

Light at night disrupts the circadian clock and causes serious health problems in the modern world. Here, we show that newly developed four-package light-emitting diodes (LEDs) can provide harmless lighting at night. To quantify the effects of light on the circadian clock, we employed the concept of circadian illuminance (CIL). CIL represents the amount of light weighted toward the wavelengths to which the circadian clock is most sensitive, whereas visual illuminance (VIL) represents the total amount of visible light. Exposure to 12 h:12 h cycles of white LED light with high and low CIL values but a constant VIL value (conditions hereafter referred to as CH/CL) can entrain behavioral and molecular circadian rhythms in flies. Moreover, flies re-entrain to phase shift in the CH/CL cycle. Core-clock proteins are required for the rhythmic behaviors seen with this LED lighting scheme. Taken together, this study provides a guide for designing healthful white LED lights for use at night, and proposes the use of the CIL value for estimating the harmful effects of any light source on organismal health.

Selective visualization of arginine and lysine has been explored among 20 amino acids using the hybrid conjugate of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and polydiacetylene (PDA). The mono pentacosa-10,12-diynyl aminomethyl group was successfully coupled to either the primary or the secondary face of β-CD, where mono-6-amino-6-deoxy-β-CD or mono-3-amino-3-deoxy-β-CD reacted with the N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid. In this combinatorial system, the cylindrical β-cyclodextrin functions as a channel for the introduction of the cationic amino acids to the artificial membrane. The membrane perturbation and aggregation by the target amino acids could be exclusively visualized as a blue to red color change based on the responsive polydiacetylene domain. These interesting findings demonstrated that the developed β-CD conjugated PDA system may offer a new method of cell-penetrating mechanism, a promising vector system, as well as impact the production industry of arginine or lysine.

Defect depth profiles of Cu (In1-x,Gax)(Se1-ySy)2 (CIGSS) were measured as functions of pulse width and voltage via deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS). Four defects were observed, i.e., electron traps of ~0.2 eV at 140 K (E1 trap) and 0.47 eV at 300 K (E2 trap) and hole traps of ~0.1 eV at 100 K (H1 trap) and ~0.4 eV at 250 K (H2 trap). The open circuit voltage (VOC) deteriorated when the trap densities of E2 were increased. The energy band diagrams of CIGSS were also obtained using Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and DLTS data. These results showed that the valence band was lowered at higher S content. In addition, it was found that the E2 defect influenced the VOC and could be interpreted as an extended defect. Defect depth profile images provided clear insight into the identification of defect state and density as a function of depth around the space charge region.

Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is a potentially curative treatment for patients with hematological malignancies. However, is associated with substantial rates of morbidity and mortality. We and others have shown that malglycemia is associated with adverse transplant outcome. Therefore, improving glycemic control may improve transplant outcome. In this prospective study we evaluated the feasibility of using Glucommander (a Computer-Guided Glucose Management System; CGGM) in order to achieve improved glucose control in hospitalized HCT patients. Nineteen adult patients contributed 21 separate instances on CGGM. Patients were on CGGM for a median of 43 h. Median initial blood glucose (BG) on CGGM was 244 mg/dL, and patients on 20 study instances reached the study BG target of 100-140 mg/dL after a median of 6 h. After BG reached the target range, the median average BG level per patient was 124 mg/dL. Six patients had a total of 10 events of BG <70 mg/dL (0.9% of BG measurements), and no patients experienced BG level <40 mg/dL. The total estimated duration of BG <70 mg/dL was 3 h (0.2% of the total CGGM time). In conclusion, our study demonstrates that stringent BG control in HCT patients using CGGM is feasible.
