Abstract: Necroptosis, a form of cell death, occurs in acute renal injury. Here, the authors show that ferroptosis—a form of cell death dependent on iron - also occurs during acute kidney injury, and show that an inhibitor of ferroptosis can improve survival in a mouse model of acute kidney damage.

Abstract: New-onset hyperglycemia and complications of preexisting diabetes have been observed in COVID-19 patients, however, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, the authors show that SARS-CoV-2 is detectable in both endocrine and exocrine cells of the pancreata of patients with COVID-19.
