Two new Palaearctic species, Scathophaga annae sp. nov. and Scathophaga simaceki sp. nov. are described from Svalbard. An illustrated identification key for selected northern species from of the genus Scathophaga from the Palaearctic and Nearctic Regions is given. Two new combinations are provided: Coniostenum molle (Becker,1894) comb.nov. for Scathophaga mollis (Becker, 1894) and Coniosternum nigripalpis (Becker, 1907) comb. nov. for Scathophaga nigripalpis (Becker, 1907). Two new synonyms are established, Scathophaga (Coniosternum) sychevskaye Ozerov, 2010, syn. nov. = Coniosternum molle and Scathophaga minuta (Maloch, 1935), syn. nov. = Coniosterum lapponicum Ringdahl, 1920. Scathophaga islandica (Becker, 1894) and Scathophaga villipes (Zetterstedt, 1846) are confirmed as valid species. The species Scathophaga furcata (Say, 1823) is confirmed again in this area. Scathophaga janmayeni (Séguy, 1939) is species incertae sedis. Scathophaga islandica (Becker, 1894) is first recorded from Greenland and Sweden (Lappland). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Microprosopa pokornyi sp. nov., Scathophaga moraviensis sp. nov., and the males of Scathophaga bohemiae Šifner, 2000 and Norellisoma vonickai Šifner, 2008b are described from the Czech Republic. A new genus of the family Scathophagidae from the Palaearctic Region is described: Milania gen. nov. with the type species Norellisoma agrion Séguy, 1948. Milania agrion (Séguy, 1948) comb. nov. from Japan and Milania longi-abdomina (Sun, 1992) comb. nov. from Japan and China are redescribed. New species Miroslava knajfli sp. nov. from Nepal is described. The new monotypic genus Lubomyia gen. nov. with the type species Lubomyia orientalis sp. nov. from Burma is described. Additions and corrections to the catalogue of the Scathophagidae (Diptera) of the Palaearctic Region (ŠIFNER 2008) are presented. Two new combinations, Norellisoma altaicum (Ozerov, 2008), comb. nov. and Norellisoma yolduense (Ozerov, 2008), comb. nov., both transferred from Norellia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830, and one new synonym, Scathophaga eoa Ozerov, 2007, syn. nov. = Scathophaga mellipes (Coquillett, 1899), are formally established.
