This report explains the parts of the Danish inventories related to road transport and other mobile sources. Emission results for CO2, CH4, N2O, SO2, NOX, NMVOC, CO, particulate matter (PM), heavy metals, dioxins and PAH are shown from 1985 to 2002. In this period the fuel use and CO2 emissions for road transport have increased by 38%. The emission decreases for PM (exhaust only), CO, NOX and NMVOC are 30, 51, 25 and 57% respectively, due to the introduction of vehicles complying with gradually stricter emission standards. The N2O emission increase of 274% is related to the high emissions from gasoline catalyst cars. For other mobile sources the fuel use, CO2 and NOX emissions have decreased with 15% from 1985 to 2002, and the PM emission decline is in the order of 13%. For SO2 the emission drop is 74% from 1985 to 2002, due to gradually lower fuel sulphur contents. In the same period the emissions of NMVOC and CO has increased with 32 and 6%, mainly due to the increased use of small gasoline boats. Uncertainties for the emissions and trends have been estimated

Models for projection of SO2-, NOx-, NMVOC- and NH3-emissions to the atmosphere have been developed and the Danish emissions have been projected until 2010 from a basis scenario including all implemented and planned measures. The projections of the four pollutants indicate that it may be difficult to achieve the emission ceilings given in the Gothenburg Protocol and the EU directive on national emission ceilings in 2010. The report contains information on Denmark's inventories for all years' from 1990 to 1999 for CO2, CH4, N2O, CO, NMVOC, SO2, HFCs, PFCs and SF6.

This report contains fuel use figures for Danish civil aviation broken down into domestic and international numbers from 1985 to 2000, using a refined fuel split procedure and official fuel sale totals. The results from two different models are used. The NERI (National Environmental Research Institute) model estimates the fuel use per flight for all flights leaving Danish airports in 1998, while the annual Danish CORINAIR inventories are based on improved LTO/aircraft type statistics. A time series of fuel use from 1985 to 2000 is also shown for flights between Denmark and Greenland/the Faroe Islands, obtained with the NERI model. In addition a complete overview of the aviation fuel use from the two latter areas is given, based on fuel sale information from Statistics Greenland and Statistics Faroe Islands, and fuel use data from airline companies. The fuel use figures are presented on a level, which facilitates the further summing of fuel according to different requirements. CORINAIR is the most comprehensive European air emission inventory programme. It consists of a defined emission calculation methodology and software for storing and further data processing. In CORINAIR 28 different emission species are estimated in 11 main sectors which are further sub-divided, and all emission sources are regarded as either area or large point sources. According to the CORINAIR guidelines the emissions are calculated as activities times emission factors. Activities are numbers referring to the specific emission generating processes, while emission factors are the mass of emissions per unit activity. This report describes the structure of the Danish CORINAIR emission inventory on a 1996 level and international conventions to which Denmark submits emission data. Furthermore the most important activities in the Danish inventory are explained. Subsequently the Danish 1996 emissions are viewed sector-wise and compared with EU per capita levels, and in addition the Danish national and international emissions are shown on time series from 1975 to 1996.
