The professional identity of nursing students involves student nurses perceiving themselves as developing the attributes of nursing professionals. The aim of this study was to explore the influence of social media usage on the development of Saudi undergraduate nursing students' professional identity using an exploratory sequential mixed methods design. It is concluded that the more students purposefully engaged with social media, the more they developed their nursing professional identity. Social media is a powerful tool that can benefit nursing students in many ways, including opening the gate on their path to becoming nurses.

Millions of people in Ethiopia have limited access to palliative care. This study describes the status of palliative care and understand, investigate, and make recommendations for a sustainable public health approach to providing palliative care in rural and regional Ethiopia. A multiple embedded mixed method case study design was used. Participants had positive attitudes to providing palliative care but insufficient knowledge and poorer self-reported practice across the region. Access to palliative care drugs was poor. Palliative care was only implemented for human immunodeficiency virus patients. This mixed method study aimed to explore the impact of maternal employment on exclusive breast feeding (EBF) in Ethiopia. Workplace managers had positive attitude but staff shortage and absence of policy impacted their decision in supporting breastfeeding. The employed mothers had good knowledge, positive attitude, and increased percentage of EBF when compared to previous surveys conducted in different parts of Ethiopia. The national requirement for four-months paid maternity leave as well as support from family and co-workers facilitated EBF. Increasing maternity leave to six months, the provision of breastfeeding spaces and breaks during workhours are recommended to further increase EBF. This mixed methods study used standardised and culturally adapted instruments as well as descriptive qualitative interviews to investigate how new graduate nurses in mainland China experience and cope with patient dying and death. This research makes a unique contribution to the field of new graduate nurses’ education and support needs in relation to death in the Chinese cultural context.
