Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 8 week of swimming training program on motoric features, resting heart rate, blood pressure, and body composition in young sedentary men. Materials and methods: Forty volunteers aged between 20 and 29 years participated in the research. The participants' body weight, percentage of body fat, body mass index, flexibility, push-up, shuttle, horizontal-vertical jump and 20-meter sprint were measured and compared before and after the 8 weeks of swimming training program. Results: At the end of the study, study groups' measurements were compared. Significant decreases were observed on parameters of percentage of body fat and 20 m sprint run between pre-post test (p<0.001), however no significant differences were observed in body weight and body mass index (p>0.05). Significant increases were observed on parameters of push-up, vertical jump (p<0.001 and parameter of shuttle (p<0.05) between pre- and post-test results. On the other hand, a significant change was not observed on parameters of flexibility and horizontal jump (p>0.05). Conclusion: Eight weeks swimming training seems to reduce percentage of body fat. It has been observed that 8 weeks swimming training increased values of push-up, shuttle and vertical jump. On the other hand, no change was observed in values of flexibility and horizontal jump.
